Far Cry Primal Retrospective: The Most Underrated Game In the Franchise
Far Cry Primal is an extraordinary and one of Ubisofts last risk taking in creating something new with the Far Cry Franchise. I believe that this game is the most underrated one they have created thus far, let me explain why in this video.

Idk why Ubisoft pivoted from detailed protagonists to empty pov shells
i personally hate fc3 for its protagonists, same as watchdogs 2, i hate them the "good guys" are the stoners, or the "lest go partying" type of people, i preffer them as the antagonists. thats the main reason i went for the kill freinds in far cry 3, not for the promised power but to end them and the protagonist, for watch dogs 2 i did not even end it, it was too frustrating to play
Thanks. Just remembered to finish FC 5 already.
I've never heard anybody say anything bad about Jason and his transformation.. he was always a great character from release
Best game but the vas boss battle suck
Its symbolic
@Svikter keep telling yourself that for the best villain in the game it suck
It's not jogi, it's yogi you prat
exp....execution points love.....level of violence The more you harm others. the more you distance yourself from being harmed. Fits jason well
The physiological was the hardest part of it all
It's fun, horrific & amazing
Jason never deserves what he got
To help Jason go completely insane was horrific
I'm probably in the minority, but, I'd love to see Jason as an antagonist in a future Far Cry game.
I love how much thought you put into your analysis mate, your video about Far Cry 3 offered a lot of interesting perspectives on such things like personalities, insanity, finding your own path through it all and such and made me want to download it and play it again after a decade has passed since my previous playthrough when I was very young. I’d love to recommend “Dishonored” to analyse one day. I’d say it has a lot of depth and interesting concepts like the nature of civil war presented in Far Cry 4. Would love to see it one day but keep up the good work regardless!
Thanks for the comment dude, yeah I will definitely check out dishonored later, but atm its Far Cry 5 next
@ sweet, looking forward to both of those vids
You analyzed perfectly why far cry 3 will never be created again by ubisoft, they see vaas but ignore the story of jason. The ending threw me off a bit but i knew i wasnt going to kill the friends because all of the things jason did was to free his friends. So the other choice would have just been... Insanity.
Valid criticisms, FC4 does lack from proper story structure and pacing even if it's an amazing game regardless. Sucks to hear more than 80% of Ajay's dialogues were cut... Now I diasgree that you feel nothing when Noore dies. Sure it's badly paced but the pieces are there for her story to feel something. Yoggie and Reggie were the most obnoxious characters with long unskippable cutscenes that were constantly getting in the way so yeah. Longinus... he has 2 mandatory cutscenes and 4 optional ones for his own side quests. Nothing wrong with that. Now the balance between seeing the badguys less than the goodguys, is indeed a problem.
Should just cut down on characters, and give a more straight forward main mission structure and make Ajay more talkactive and the game would be goated
@@Svikter yeah i agree, also feels like the north kyrat has so many locations and areas where other story levels or sidequests could take place. Feels like the game was either rushed and/or unfinished in more than one aspect.
@@Hamentsios10 Yeah we basically finish the game when we reach the north lol, and thats almost half the map
Honestly it would’ve been an odd change if Ajax was replaced with Grant. Maybe have him call Jason saying something like “I understand it now”
what😭
Immagine if jason had the "only you training"
Gonna be talking indepth about that mission in my Far Cry 5 video
I love that he looks like Sam Altmann
Farcry has sucked since Ubi took ownership of the IP. Im14andthisisdeep writing accompanied by ad nauseum repetition. Let's be real, people only remember this one for the tits.
Citra pulls Jason from the water at the beginning of the game not Denis. You can tell by the bracelets on the arm. Denis does not wear bracelets.
You can see Dennis’s jacket tho, and its his tattoos
I wish more video games were like that.. where people either absolutely LOVE it or they absolutely HATE IT cause it means it has A SOUL.. A HEART.. A CHARACTER.. A GENUINE DIRECTION AND A PATH IT TOOK UNAPOLOGETICALLY but green can't handle that so everyone game is KINDA LIKED by everyone but loved by no one.. but still makes money so who cares right?
Youd have to be pretty fucking stupid to fall for Citras BS. And i didn't think Jason was that stupid. So i chose the good ending.
UPVOTED, especially the parts about charities. Long have I thought that they are usually misused (not all are) and you make a compelling argument. It isn't just warlords in Africa that benefit, but lying and dishonest "theists" and "churches" that post pictures and do nothing to ACTUALLY help people. Never finished this game, but I plan to one of these days.
This game is one of the best games I've ever played. It's so bizarre and unique, and the world building is unlike anything I've seen before. This game molded my taste in music and made me the person i am today. Though a sequel will be amazing, I'd much rather want a remake with better graphics and a jumping mechanic to get new players on board to enjoy this masterpiece. Then, just maybe a sequel.
One of the first things Vaas says to grant is "Do you want me to cut you up like I did your friend?!" so actually yes Vaas killed that guy in the beanie at the beginning of the game.
i like your accent
lets just say far cry 3 was the peak and ubisoft never could out perform themself how sad nowdays they make worse games and they want to give community brain candy 🫠🫠🫠
You deserve more subs man this video is great!
Thanks man
Almost every character in the series has some form of justification for being good at killing people, or in the case of Jason, gradually develops one over the course of the game. Not Ajay. He is a god of destruction as soon as he picks up a kukri without any backstory or development. He barely reacts to the insane shit happening around him and has no problem embarking on suicide missions when asked. The protagonists of Far Cry 5 and New Dawn were meant to be nameless blank slates but Ajay doesn't feel that far off from them. We learn next to nothing about him, even as the plot revolves around him returning to Kyrat. It's also amazing how Far Cry 4 manages to devote so many cutscenes to its' characters and the only reason you remember any of them is because you can't skip those cutscenes.
Yeah, the whole connection of gameplay to the story is something that i always liked with Far Cry 3 and just how subtle it was. You, as the player, know that you need to level up to unlock more skills to make fights easier and easier so you go kill and fight. This progression transfers to story as it symbolizes Jason's development as he becomes more skilled and bloodthirsty as the story moves forward.
I like the game a lot and just finished it after buying it long ago but I noticed the farther I got into the game the more frustrated I became because a lvl 4 reputation and collectible obsession don’t work together
Awesome video man!! Such a good job done. I can tell it took alot of work. I subscribed too!
Thanks bro!
My favourite part of any Far Cry game is the archery, so this game was perfect for me
Jason Brody went from caring friend to a relentless Rakyak legend
Man I wished the far cry franchise kept the dark, gritty, sinister tone that far cry 3 had.
Nothing beats the JACKAL in farcry 2 :(
I always assumed the knife Vaas stabs us with is actually just a syringe with a hallucinogenic substance in it and the ancient knife is just what Jason see’s
I don’t think I’ve fully completed any FC game since 3. They feel empty and repetitive and could never feel the same as I did whilst playing 3. You are right that the later main characters are just husks.
I wish it wasn’t so hard to get this to run on my rig
Game had boobies
The main game was very short tbh, this is my only complaint
A little shorter than far cry 3, but alot of main missions just felt like side missions, but yeah a little too short
@Svikter side missions don't do much if the main story is completed, you dont feel the same interest once the main quests are over... I didn't manage it well and the game ended before i could realize, now i dont want to finish the whole game....
I wasn't big on Jason. He was whitebread until the plot needed him not to be. I feel like the plot's natural conclusion would be him leaving the island after he takes down Vaas.
FC3 came out over 12 years and 2 days ago, I still play it semi regularly, its definitely rose tinted glasses as it was my intro into FARCRY, which became my favorite franchise. But this game was also what game me into FPS followed by BO2. I know I’ve 100%ed the game 9 times, and done the campaign 21 times from memory.
All of this is invalidated for me since the people hes killing here are murderers, human traffickers, drug traffickers and pirates, I felt annoyed at the game for trying to make me feel bad about killing evil men.
I hate Jason ever since I beat the game for the first time. You mean to tell me that you get most of your family back, all of them nearly dying, and you wanna live with the stinky gummy jungle thot??
Been thinking about playing this again I just can’t decide who I want to play as I played Marty my first time but wanna play someone else this time hard time deciding which hands I like the best lol great game tho
Playing FC3, I remember being so excited about seeing the descent into a blood thirsty killer for Jason. There is a reason FC3 is so good and it's because of how well crafted the whole story was. Even Grant dying at the beginning was a big deal because of how he was depicted as a badass. It was just such a good game
I’ve always loved Jason. He didn’t want to be a murderer, but he did what he had to do for his friends and brother. He shows in the start, he doesn’t want to do this, but he feels and knows he has to…so he becomes even crazier than vaas
Farcry 3 was by far one of the best games I’ve ever played. Everything about it was the greatest thing to a 15 year old me
I watched the Act Man for several years and usually do enjoy his content for what it is, but he definitely started to take a different to approach to making video's and online interactions ever since the whole situation with QuantumTV. Only he f*ckt things up for himself with the tweets he made joking about doxing TH-cam employes. Ofcourse it was just satire, but it was'nt a smart move considering the circumstances. From that moment on he got himself into even more hot water with HeelsBabyFace all because of some stupid misunderstanding with the Starfield pronouns wich could've been handled more maturely, but he did'nt because the Act Man did'nt get his own way. I thought after all what has happend he would learn from it all, but not much has changed about him to this day. I guess we'll see though 🤞
