He allowed himself to be influenced by publishers which is the kind of thing he would criticize ign and the like for. also he only calls out games when it is safe to do so. for real been watching him since around 2018. I thought there was a noticeable difference in his videos and his TH-cam personality and after seeing this video I see it wasn't just a case of me growing out of his content. I used to be so excited when he uploaded because his 40 minute videos were so engrossing and the video would be over before I knew it. I think what really got me was his MW2 (22) video. Bro really called it awesome 💀
I remember it was around the time he made a video about bad takes from Elden Ring. He mentioned the horrid response from someone named "Quantum TV" Or something like that. Act pointed out the dude abuses the copy right system, then the guy went on to copyright Act's video. Act appealed but TH-cam said no, that it isn't fair use. His channel was demonitized I believe. Was extremely infuriating to see this guy get away with it. But then Act came back and started doing video's again. But you could just tell something was different about it. Unrelated to the topic, criticism on production quality: your mic picks "s" sounds and makes them more pitched so it's kind of hard to listen to this. If I lower the volume I can barely hear anything and if I increase it the s sounds become a little too intense.
I wanna really like the act man but there's always this one moment thst makes me questuon him alot. In his cyberpunk review he says "we dont know why johnny silverhand hates corpos and arisaka" ... I- We do? Its pretty clear halfway through the story that johnny hates arisaka due to them turming his girlfriend into an all powerful ai. I don't know how much clearer that can be?? I understand the game had a bad wrap at launch but ignoring the launch, it feels like he played through 25 percent of the story, did some side quests, and just wrote up a video. I really wanna like the act man cause i like some of his vidoes but this one reaaaally makes me question the legitimately of his reviews.

Actman? More like the soldout man. I was a fan too but I just can support someone who only values money above all, even over their own integrity. Now I am forever distrustful of content creators that get free early codes and say the game is good. And tend to stay away from those reviews until after the game has been out to see if they were shilling or being honest. Starfield was the last straw for me with some of these content creators eg gmanlives, actman, ect.
Well its also the fact that alot of companies know that ordinary gamers no longer trusts journalists. Instead they use influencers/content creators as marketing tools now instead... I think Act Man has a good heart though, and will hopefully come around.
Kinda have to correct you on a few things: 1) The tweet you showed on Act Man liking the game? Yeah aged like milk. He made this tweet when he was really early in the game. A month later, he admitted that the game was just mediocre, and even added it in the list of best and worst games, and called it disappointing. 2) While he did apologize about the Payday 3 situation on a community post, he also addressed this on his best and worst games video of 2023, and he addressed by claiming that they gave him and other TH-camrs a build by the devs that was not representative of the build at launch. He pointed out that the video wasn't a review, just a first impression, and he apologized for not disclosing enough the fact that the footage was not representative of the game at launch. Other than that though, great video.

Honestly. Act Man - to me - is just an entertaining, funny guy that puts effort into his videos. And it seems kinda weird to me that he got shit for doing a few sponsored vids, meanwhile, other game reviewers do the same and no one calls them out.
Because other content creators don't immediately go into defensive mode, when criticized. I can't remember who it was, that made a video criticizing every major creator that was sponsored by Payday 3, out of those creators, the only one who went on the defensive, was The Act Man. Instead of just admitting he sponsored a terrible, terrible game, he doubled down on it. He lost a lot of points in my book for that behavior.

I watched the Act Man for several years and usually do enjoy his content for what it is, but he definitely started to take a different to approach to making video's and online interactions ever since the whole situation with QuantumTV. Only he f*ckt things up for himself with the tweets he made joking about doxing TH-cam employes. Ofcourse it was just satire, but it was'nt a smart move considering the circumstances. From that moment on he got himself into even more hot water with HeelsBabyFace all because of some stupid misunderstanding with the Starfield pronouns wich could've been handled more maturely, but he did'nt because the Act Man did'nt get his own way. I thought after all what has happend he would learn from it all, but not much has changed about him to this day. I guess we'll see though 🤞
For me, Act Man absolutely PEAKED in his "SJWs Vs. Videogames" video. It was the time I was convinced to subscribe to him for good and boy, he did NOT disappoint me in the following months and, I don't know, 2 or 3 years after that. But after that point, I could definitely see a gradual but noticeable weakening of his "spine" by avoiding "hot takes" more and more as the time went on. What happened to him?

Well yeah, there's an entire discourse occurring and has been occurring for sometime now and not just about pro-nouns. It isn't generally visible to people not in the know. That's what this whole back and forth between The Act Man and Az stems from, the argument between people who don't want this stuff in games and those who do. It seems inconsequential to people like you, probably because you're just an ordinary person going about their life (no offense) but it's part of the overarching political, cultural and social situation right now. If I were you I'd stay away from it, it gets pretty miserable.

Personally I think this should be handled on a case by case basis. Some of the "woke" things are just truly pointless, other have merit. For example, if "representation" of certain groups actually does improve the game-play experience of those represented, then it is a "objectively" (In quotes because good game sign is inherently subjective) good thing. However, in regards to sexualisation of videogame characters for example I have heard very compelling points and have been shown some studies that this is more akin to violence in videogames debate, meaning that it is a non-issue outside of some specific edge cases. Or if certain measures have actually empirically been shown to lead to less prejudice for example (And they can be implemented without very significantly chaining the game-play experience), then they are "objectively" good generally speaking, but if they are shown to be pointless, then well, what is the point? Then there is no reason to invest resources into properly implementing that thing. And of course, if you implement many pointless things like that for seemingly no reason at all, and then start blaming those for not implementing said pointless thing, then you start alienating players and hamper potential future efforts that are not pointless.

in cyberpunk 2077 it changes your voice to sound male or female for V in character creation not really pronouns, you could do that even in older games like BG1 (boulder's gate 1). unrelated female V is the better voice actor.

I think there is a bit of truth on either side. On one hand, Act Man did fuck up in the past. Took on some sponsorships too quickly for a quick cash grab, but who can blame him. It is his livelihood after all. His goal is to make money first and foremost. On the other hand, however, Act Man shouldn’t be blamed for how games turn out. If he receives a sponsorship to play a game, and he actually had a fun time playing the game, then it’s fair for him to make a video discussing what he enjoyed. To quote The Act Man himself, “Of course, it’s biased. It’s a REVIEW”. I think anyone who has a problem with reviews being biased needs to learn how to separate “entertainment” from reality. Develop some critical thinking skills and know how to make decisions for yourself. Personally, if his video is good, then I’ll give the game a shot. If it’s shit, it’s shit. That was my decision that I made. It’s not Act Man’s responsibility I think you pointed out a key element in The Act Man’s YT career that explains this sudden “change” but you drew the wrong conclusion. It’s not Act Man that changed. It’s how people are criticizing him. After the Quantum TV drama, Act Man now has more attention on him than ever before. So, naturally, people are going to be more critical of his actions and trying to point out every flaw they noticed. I thought there was a noticeable difference in his videos and his TH-cam personality and after seeing this video I see it wasn't just a case of me growing out of his content. I used to be so excited when he uploaded because his 40 minute videos were so engrossing and the video would be over before I knew it. I think what really got me was his MW2 (22) video. Was extremely infuriating to see this guy get away with it.

Actman? More like the soldout man. I was a fan too but I just can support someone who only values money above all, even over their own integrity. Now I am forever distrustful of content creators that get free early codes and say the game is good. And tend to stay away from those reviews until after the game has been out to see if they were shilling or being honest. Starfield was the last straw for me with some of these content creators eg gmanlives, actman, ect.

Kinda have to correct you on a few things:
1) The tweet you showed on Act Man liking the game? Yeah aged like milk. He made this tweet when he was really early in the game. A month later, he admitted that the game was just mediocre, and even added it in the list of best and worst games, and called it disappointing.
2) While he did apologize about the Payday 3 situation on a community post, he also addressed this on his best and worst games video of 2023, and he addressed by claiming that they gave him and other TH-camrs a build by the devs that was not representative of the build at launch. He pointed out that the video wasn't a review, just a first impression, and he apologized for not disclosing enough the fact that the footage was not representative of the game at launch.
Other than that though, great video.

Because other content creators don't immediately go into defensive mode, when criticized. I can't remember who it was, that made a video criticizing every major creator that was sponsored by Payday 3, out of those creators, the only one who went on the defensive, was The Act Man. Instead of just admitting he sponsored a terrible, terrible game, he doubled down on it.

It was the time I was convinced to subscribe to him for good and boy, he did NOT disappoint me in the following months and, I don't know, 2 or 3 years after that. But after that point, I could definitely see a gradual but noticeable weakening of his "spine" by avoiding "hot takes" more and more as the time went on.

I will "quickly" go into my stance on this also though. "Wokeness" is a very general buzz-term of a lot of things. Personally I think this should be handled on a case by case basis. Some of the "woke" things are just truly pointless, other have merit. For example, if "representation" of certain groups actually does improve the game-play experience of those represented, then it is a "objectively" (In quotes because good game sign is inherently subjective) good thing. However, in regards to sexualisation of videogame characters for example I have heard very compelling points and have been shown some studies that this is more akin to violence in videogames debate, meaning that it is a non-issue outside of some specific edge cases. Or if certain measures have actually empirically been shown to lead to less prejudice for example (And they can be implemented without very significantly chaining the game-play experience), then they are "objectively" good generally speaking, but if they are shown to be pointless, then well, what is the point? Then there is no reason to invest resources into properly implementing that thing. And of course, if you implement many pointless things like that for seemingly no reason at all, and then start blaming those for not implementing said pointless thing, then you start alienating players and hamper potential future efforts that are not pointless.

I used to watch Act Man a lot in the past, not as much nowadays but I still enjoyed his content and I'll probably still watch him from time to time but it's gonna be painful to do so knowing that he exposed himself as a buffoon and someone who can't see his own faults. I think there is a bit of truth on either side. On one hand, Act Man did fuck up in the past. Took on some sponsorships too quickly for a quick cash grab, but who can blame him. It is his livelihood after all. His goal is to make money first and foremost. On the other hand, however, Act Man shouldn’t be blamed for how games turn out. If he receives a sponsorship to play a game, and he actually had a fun time playing the game, then it’s fair for him to make a video discussing what he enjoyed.
To quote The Act Man himself, “Of course, it’s biased. It’s a REVIEW”. I think anyone who has a problem with reviews being biased needs to learn how to separate “entertainment” from reality. Develop some critical thinking skills and know how to make decisions for yourself. Personally, if his video is good, then I’ll give the game a shot. If it’s shit, it’s shit. That was my decision that I made. It’s not Act Man’s responsibility
I think you pointed out a key element in The Act Man’s YT career that explains this sudden “change” but you drew the wrong conclusion. It’s not Act Man that changed. It’s how people are criticizing him. After the Quantum TV drama, Act Man now has more attention on him than ever before. So, naturally, people are going to be more critical of his actions and trying to point out every flaw they noticed. Nobody talked shit when The Act Man reviewed Call of Duty Ghosts, despite the obvious reason why he chose to play a game that he clearly did not enjoy
