Insane notion since his entire diablo 4 review and the two videos he made after that about diablo 4, disprove this. Also BF classic collection video? Go to his channel there's a fucking dozen bro, like what? Also "drama" is him talking about creators (Speed and SSSniperwolf) abusing copy right strikes and being overall terrible people for the platform, since yknow his entire career was basically almost destroyed because youtube refused to talk about it so he's kinda obligated to give input, food for thought.
He took a sponsorship for a mobile game he obviously doesn't play and turned an entire video into on big ad. Same for new world and payday 3. He allowed himself to be influenced by publishers which is the kind of thing he would criticize ign and the like for.
also he only calls out games when it is safe to do so. D4 and BF being bad were not controversial opinions. Afaik he's not put out a dragons dogma video and he might never since that game's controversy isn't so black and white.@@Chazz3.o

_Act Man is good at manipulating his young audiance. I say young because his audiance is mostly kids and anime weebs. But you can catch him when he contradicts himself. Afterawhile, It makes one wonder if he believes in what he's saying or is he pandering to remain relevant on youtube? I would say that most big TH-camrs do this, and so if your a wise person who isn't a follower and can think for yourself it's probably good to just not be a "Fan" of any youtuber._
He was one of the first channels i ever subbed on youtube back in the day, watching his growth and inevitable change was kinda sad.
for real been watching him since around 2018. I thought there was a noticeable difference in his videos and his TH-cam personality and after seeing this video I see it wasn't just a case of me growing out of his content. I used to be so excited when he uploaded because his 40 minute videos were so engrossing and the video would be over before I knew it. I think what really got me was his MW2 (22) video. Bro really called it awesome 💀

Unrelated to the topic, criticism on production quality: your mic picks "s" sounds and makes them more pitched so it's kind of hard to listen to this. If I lower the volume I can barely hear anything and if I increase it the s sounds become a little too intense.

Again this happened like 1-2 years ago I think. I may have gotten some details wrong but that’s the gist of it,

in cyberpunk 2077 it changes your voice to sound male or female for V in character creation not really pronouns, you could do that even in older games like BG1 (boulder's gate 1).

dudes been even leaving some nasty comments on videos like this time and deleting them at times, i watched a video on the shit show that was pay day 3 and included a part on his paid sponsorship before the game was released and in the comments act man went off calling the dude a rat cuse apparently he subscribed to his patron once months ago it was weird, he just gets really weird anytime someone criticize him, idk him personally but it looks like classic youtuber ego syndrome.

Honestly I just found out about this guy and I'm not sure what people really are all up in arms for. He played Payday 3 as his first payday experience, while not dealing with online servers, with new people he enjoyed meeting, while also getting paid. I'm sure he did have a good time, who wouldn't?

Actman? More like the soldout man. I was a fan too but I just can support someone who only values money above all, even over their own integrity. Now I am forever distrustful of content creators that get free early codes and say the game is good. And tend to stay away from those reviews until after the game has been out to see if they were shilling or being honest. Starfield was the last straw for me with some of these content creators eg gmanlives, actman, ect.
Well its also the fact that alot of companies know that ordinary gamers no longer trusts journalists. Instead they use influencers/content creators as marketing tools now instead...
I think Act Man has a good heart though, and will hopefully come around.

4:23 he said it was the most disappointing game of the year, didn’t do a review, I don’t get this point. Also with the sponsored video thing, his channel gets destroyed by TH-cams money. With the payday thing I kinda get it but no he didn’t have to say the game was good, he was just given a great experience. (Still shoulda made a bigger deal)

Kinda have to correct you on a few things:
1) The tweet you showed on Act Man liking the game? Yeah aged like milk. He made this tweet when he was really early in the game. A month later, he admitted that the game was just mediocre, and even added it in the list of best and worst games, and called it disappointing.
2) While he did apologize about the Payday 3 situation on a community post, he also addressed this on his best and worst games video of 2023, and he addressed by claiming that they gave him and other TH-camrs a build by the devs that was not representative of the build at launch. He pointed out that the video wasn't a review, just a first impression, and he apologized for not disclosing enough the fact that the footage was not representative of the game at launch.
Other than that though, great video.

Honestly. Act Man - to me - is just an entertaining, funny guy that puts effort into his videos. And it seems kinda weird to me that he got shit for doing a few sponsored vids, meanwhile, other game reviewers do the same and no one calls them out.
Because other content creators don't immediately go into defensive mode, when criticized. I can't remember who it was, that made a video criticizing every major creator that was sponsored by Payday 3, out of those creators, the only one who went on the defensive, was The Act Man. Instead of just admitting he sponsored a terrible, terrible game, he doubled down on it.
He lost a lot of points in my book for that behavior.
The main problem with Act Man is that he gets PAID to push THE MESSAGE. The single biggest and most nefarious thing in ALL of "entertainment." "Entertainment" is more accurately called entrainment. But I wouldn't expect anyone who watches his videos to understand basic concepts, so this comment falls on deaf ears I'm sure.

I don't know how much clearer that can be?? I understand the game had a bad wrap at launch but ignoring the launch, it feels like he played through 25 percent of the story, did some side quests, and just wrote up a video.
I really wanna like the act man cause i like some of his vidoes but this one reaaaally makes me question the legitimately of his reviews.

Yeah honestly all this hate in the comments seems so unwarranted.. I’ve seen plenty of bad people who deserve their own video like this, but Actman is not one of them. He’s probably dealt with more bullshit than most of the people commenting
For me, Act Man absolutely PEAKED in his "SJWs Vs. Videogames" video. It was the time I was convinced to subscribe to him for good and boy, he did NOT disappoint me in the following months and, I don't know, 2 or 3 years after that. But after that point, I could definitely see a gradual but noticeable weakening of his "spine" by avoiding "hot takes" more and more as the time went on.
What happened to him?
Its risky to pick a side nowadays, and after the quantum tv drama, he does not wanna risk his channel again.

I think there is a bit of truth on either side. On one hand, Act Man did fuck up in the past. Took on some sponsorships too quickly for a quick cash grab, but who can blame him. It is his livelihood after all. His goal is to make money first and foremost. On the other hand, however, Act Man shouldn’t be blamed for how games turn out. If he receives a sponsorship to play a game, and he actually had a fun time playing the game, then it’s fair for him to make a video discussing what he enjoyed.
To quote The Act Man himself, “Of course, it’s biased. It’s a REVIEW”. I think anyone who has a problem with reviews being biased needs to learn how to separate “entertainment” from reality. Develop some critical thinking skills and know how to make decisions for yourself. Personally, if his video is good, then I’ll give the game a shot. If it’s shit, it’s shit. That was my decision that I made. It’s not Act Man’s responsibility
I think you pointed out a key element in The Act Man’s YT career that explains this sudden “change” but you drew the wrong conclusion. It’s not Act Man that changed. It’s how people are criticizing him. After the Quantum TV drama, Act Man now has more attention on him than ever before. So, naturally, people are going to be more critical of his actions and trying to point out every flaw they noticed. Nobody talked shit when The Act Man reviewed Call of Duty Ghosts, despite the obvious reason why he chose to play a game that he clearly did not enjoy

just adding on, confirmation bias is funny like that, when the scores for a bad game are high (or decent) people point out how obtuse/uncaring general audiences can be to quality standards, an argument in the same line as 'people liked the transformers movies' and one i wouldn't disagree with. Then when talking about a good game alla witcher 3 they go 'something about this game clearly works, the audience approves!' of course its expected they go further than that but its a funny quirk ive been noticing a lot recently as well.
I highly agree with that point, but I think in Justice league's case is the fact that almost no one bought/played the game hence a skewed steam review positivity. As you need to have played the game to review it unless im mistaken.

Even though kjl didn't sell the best it still sold more than enough to get a good estimation of average score. And it holds a strong 80-85 on all three platforms.
This doesn't mean that it's an objectively good game, no game is that. But it does mean that the vast majority of people who actually play it enjoy it.

Like yeah, i cant blame him for not finding server issues but how do you not notice there is no single player mode, that theres less maps than the original had, its season pass sucks, the fact half the objectives ask you to sit in circles, etc. These arent things that can be changed within a month of launch. Whats the point of a reviewer who cant review, especially when he shits on gaming journalists for the same kinda cluelessness.

I used to watch Act Man a lot in the past, not as much nowadays but I still enjoyed his content and I'll probably still watch him from time to time but it's gonna be painful to do so knowing that he exposed himself as a buffoon and someone who can't see his own faults. Well yeah, there's an entire discourse occurring and has been occurring for sometime now and not just about pro-nouns. It isn't generally visible to people not in the know. That's what this whole back and forth between The Act Man and Az stems from, the argument between people who don't want this stuff in games and those who do.
It seems inconsequential to people like you, probably because you're just an ordinary person going about their life (no offense) but it's part of the overarching political, cultural and social situation right now. If I were you I'd stay away from it, it gets pretty miserable.

I am not an active part of that discourse or keeping up with it, but I do know it exists. This is why I think we should not treat this as some kind of valid debate, but we should treat it as the childish squabble that it is.

I will "quickly" go into my stance on this also though. "Wokeness" is a very general buzz-term of a lot of things. Personally I think this should be handled on a case by case basis. Some of the "woke" things are just truly pointless, other have merit. For example, if "representation" of certain groups actually does improve the game-play experience of those represented, then it is a "objectively" (In quotes because good game sign is inherently subjective) good thing. However, in regards to sexualisation of videogame characters for example I have heard very compelling points and have been shown some studies that this is more akin to violence in videogames debate, meaning that it is a non-issue outside of some specific edge cases. Or if certain measures have actually empirically been shown to lead to less prejudice for example (And they can be implemented without very significantly chaining the game-play experience), then they are "objectively" good generally speaking, but if they are shown to be pointless, then well, what is the point? Then there is no reason to invest resources into properly implementing that thing. And of course, if you implement many pointless things like that for seemingly no reason at all, and then start blaming those for not implementing said pointless thing, then you start alienating players and hamper potential future efforts that are not pointless.
