As an archaeologist I'm still jonesing for a new game like this. The lithic industrial era is such a ripe time and place for games. I need my paleolithic fix, man, and this is basically the only game that scratches that itch. Their attention to detail creating the proto-Indo-European language is something that should get a lot more attention and praise. Also, riding a Smilodon, enough said.
I’m on a break, but as an anthropology major (in general) the closest might be Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey; though I haven’t played more than a couple hours- it might scratch that itch for those of us who desperately want these awesome kind of games
Now imagine a game where you progress through different human species and stone industries from the jungles to the ice age. Thats one niche that still hasn't been filled. All make new shitty CODs and battle royales instead.
It's nice to see fellow archeologists being excited about the game. This was one of the very few games I've ever pre-ordered, because I was so excited to see a game (especially AAA) set in mesolithic times, especially since I specialized in anthropogenesis, this was extremely exciting for me. Not that the game is super historically accurate, but I was having a blast with this game and later with Ancestors.
While it might not be the best Far Cry in terms of game or story, it is undeniably the most fun. Having sabertooths as pets was an incredibly cool feature. I may be a little biased, given my love for cats and wild cats, so Primal will always hold a special place in my heart. But even so, I stand by it, we haven't seen a more enjoyable Far Cry experience since.
I was blown away when the characters spoke, like how much time went into developing and voice acting for a fictional language, just amazing. to me at least
I first thought its something fictional but its based on actual language reconstruction and has different dialects. Thats really impressive and adds a lot of depth.
I really liked Primal. My only complaint is the game felt unfinished. After beating the two factions it felt like there should have been a overarching final 'act' to kind of tie everything together. But instead the game just ends. It's probably my favorite Far Cry game alongside 5 and 3.
Eeeyyyyy, so happy to see this! I can't believe how overlooked Primal is, to me it's the most unique game in the franchise and yet nobody really talks about it! The TH-cam algorithm did something good today.
With my GPU downgraded I finally had a motivation to play and its impressive. Not only it is still visually stunning while running at 4K120 on a 5700 XT, it has so many lovely details and is one unique game with a primeval setting. It only gives me more hope there will somewhen be Ancestors 2 - If you don't know it, Ancestors The Humankind Odyssey is another game in a prehistoric setting that also adds much more realism. If there was something like that paired with the action of Far Cry Primal it would be perfect. Just like AOE II it could have sections for actual history. And a high focus on the mere survival part. Some may not like it, but then the game is just not for them.
I loved Far Cry Primal so much that, to this day, it is the only game I took the time to earn every single Xbox achievement for. I'm just beginning a revisit to Far Cry 5 after not having played it since its release, and I think after I complete that game again, I shall do the same for Primal. Thank you for this video, which has inspired me to do so.
I bought Primal when it came out, it stayed on the shelf, gave it another go a couple of days ago. Went to the kitchen and I can see my neighbours tv from across the street. Playing Primal! How weird is that?
If there's one thing I love it's underrated games getting completely narrated by people with sexy accents. Take my watch time you son of a deep voiced sexy woman.
I received this game as a gift from my wife, loved it! My only complaint is that it's pretty easy to cheese if you focus on certain crafting techniques early, especially when using the owl.
I beat Batari by using the owl and dropped the fire bombs on the pillars when I first started. Then used the owl to drop bees on her to have an opening to shoot at her with her not being able to shoot back. Cleared the waves and did the same thing again until she came down to fight head on and used my beasts to attack her.
On Neanderthal extinction and our modern Neanderthal genes, I think the latest genetic evidence points to Homo Sapiens and Neanderthals interbreeding mostly in like, the Middle East near Africa (during the long period where they lived near each other but prior to mass homo sapien migrations out of Africa) and that by that time we had speciated enough to make creating live fertile children only possible between male Neanderthals and female Homo Sapiens, which is why the Neanderthal dna present in everyone that migrated out of Africa (and I think it has made its way back into sub Saharan African peoples in usually comparatively small amounts) is patrilineal (I think)
Makes you long for other Far Cry games set in different historical eras. I really want a Far Cry game set in Medieval Scotland and 1800's Colorado.I really don't want another Far Cry set in a modern jungle environment again.
I know I haven’t seen the animations for taming the great beasts in any of my playthroughs, but they do have these animations. th-cam.com/video/kH6x8wrzaOg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4AQVWi6aLH9l-eT0 6:28 for the great beasts.
I would just like to point out that Alabama actually allows legally in****ual relationships (marriage only including non-blood relatives), however it is banned in New Hampshire. This is because New Hampshire IS FULL OF IT. NEW HAMPSHIRE DESERVES THIS MORE THAN ALABAMA😂😂😂 (Edit) Watch the video to understand this joke (Edit again) When I say New Hampshire is full of it, i mean in c'est. 😂
Maybe I need to replay it but Primal didn’t click with me. I was in my second year at high school when this came out and I cared about the guns than spears. (Still to this day) Finished it and haven’t came back since. Not my kind of game but can see why people love it. I miss when Ubisoft was took more risks without alienating their audience.
A Farcry without the vehicles? Guns? Customisation? No interesting antagonist too?, and a melee focus in a game clearly not designed for it? Truly underrated, I mean it only sold over 3 millions copies. Oh, and a reliance on AI companions? Man, what a game. I sure hope it uses the same bow as Farcry 3.

@ also in that game I mentioned

Having a rare black jaguar stealth kill everyone is complete bliss, IMHO.
I was blown away when the characters spoke, like how much time went into developing and voice acting for a fictional language, just amazing. to me at least
And in only 1 year development time, its insane
I first thought its something fictional but its based on actual language reconstruction and has different dialects. Thats really impressive and adds a lot of depth.

Play it for the journey, not the ending. Thats what Mass Effect already tought me.

I think primal might be the only far cry game I’ve finished and I’ve finished it like 5 times
I've played new dawn 5 and 4 but primal might just be my favorite game period.
First here, possibly the best Far Cry game conceptually and, also my first Far Cry game. I have 5000+ hours on the entire franchise
Woah dude XD Yeah its quite different from the others games, but in a great way, though it still has a lot of Far Cry DNA in it

I loved how I could go to whatever place I wanted, take in the scenery, enjoy the beauty of the place… and not have 20 guys shooting at eagles
I bought Primal when it came out, it stayed on the shelf, gave it another go a couple of days ago. Went to the kitchen and I can see my neighbours tv from across the street. Playing Primal! How weird is that?

They put really a lot of effort into the language and voice design.
I received this game as a gift from my wife, loved it!

Awesome video man!! Such a good job done. I can tell it took alot of work. I subscribed too!
Thanks bro!
I bought my first PC just because of this game it's a 10/10 game the best in the franchise
It's the only FPS game to have a tamable and rideable sabretooth so it's goated game without question.
Sabretooth ftw
i always wanted a far cry with zombies or with monsters
OMG. Holy sub feed today I feel blessed 🙏
It is a great game and I wish there where more games like it
Unfortunetely game companies dont see the potential in this setting....

1:50:44 bro sounds like stitch
It’s hands down one of the better ones and lore wise it’s the begging of the series
51:38 you missed an amazing spot for a joke, "you bring the rocks to Urki and he gets to worki".
Yeah thats a good one !
I know I haven’t seen the animations for taming the great beasts in any of my playthroughs, but they do have these animations.

Stop being a poof.
Just say incest.
It's not a bad word.
Stop being a coward.
nah far cry 2 is the most underrated because it's one of the best shooters of all time
I have an iron grip on my copy.
Maybe I need to replay it but Primal didn’t click with me. I was in my second year at high school when this came out and I cared about the guns than spears. your review is pure garbage just 2 hours of glazing far cry 3 and complaining about the game being both easy and hard
