In the end, if you watch the most complex reviews of FC2, you'll notice that there is no protagonist and antagonist. Your character does the same thing as the perceived antagonist. That's the beauty and genius of FC2.

I think its mostly because he's not as "wacky" as the other ones, but yeah Far Cry 2 is hard to get into for many people, could be that aswell. Thanks btw XD
That review was on point! The Jackal is my favourite FC villain. I love how realistic,deep and mysterious his character is. Its also pretty cool that he is one of those characters that we don't know that much about. Small note the director of FC2 confirmed that they where first planning him to be Jack Carver from the first game what you know is pretty obvious JACKal. XD But great review man that was awesome!

There was a statemant from a dev that confirmed it. Far Cry wiki: It was confirmed by Clint Hocking, Far Cry 2's creative director, during an IGN interview that Jackal is based on Jack Carver.
The problem with the Jackel is the tapes. There´re optional so you can miss them and without the them Jackel is bleak and it´s strange at the end where you help him. With the the tapes it´s make more sense. I think a lot of players missed them and on PC is a bug where you can olny play 9 tapes no matter how much more you find (there´s a mod to fix it) so to me it´s no wonder why he is so underrated.
Yeah I agree with that, but I still think even without the tapes that hes an interesting antagonist, because we still know what kind of person he is only from the ingame cutscenes.
I need a Far Cry 2 remaster. I just want some better customizations and settings options, let you see how many malaria pills you have left in the journal, and maybe removing the speed-up dubs on the voices.
The thing with the jackal is that you could tell me that he is a real Warlord and I would believe it

Yeah.... I was not rly a fan of Jack Carver being the Jackal, I just like the mystery more...
