I've always said that I would've enjoyed the game so much if when you sit at the table and get the "easter egg" ending that would've just been the beginning. Where the player actually get's to team up with Pagan Min and take out both of the factions (who both were just awful). That could've been another way to drive people to the co-op features they were pushing. Just imagine your friend and yourself cruising around as Pagan Min and the Player Character?
For the idle talk of the pirates at 1:04:03 I've come across a TH-cam channel recently that made compilations of the Royal Army idle talk and it is genuinly better than FC3s STDs in my opinion. Stuff like that they only want their familys safe and some that worship Pagan despite being a bad leader. There is also a cool detail that apparently the Royal Guards from the north speak mandarin showing that they are part of the chinese triads that Pagan was part of. Btw. I'm not finished with the video yet. Just wanted to add that :) Good video so far, dude! Edit: I want to point out at 1:41:10 that you can actually use the pipe. You can find it in your home next to your door and it is supposed to teleport you to random locations on the map. But for me it just crashes the game :D Either way no good reward though, I must agree
Yeah I saw a few of those afterwards... im not sure why I did not hear much of this dialogue, maybe they are not as talkactive in 4 as in 3? thanks dude!
2:01:24 just a side note bro. This will actually be Amita if you do her mission. It always was her for me in my playthroughs. Even if i sided with Sabal in the end.
I love how much thought you put into your analysis mate, your video about Far Cry 3 offered a lot of interesting perspectives on such things like personalities, insanity, finding your own path through it all and such and made me want to download it and play it again after a decade has passed since my previous playthrough when I was very young. I’d love to recommend “Dishonored” to analyse one day. I’d say it has a lot of depth and interesting concepts like the nature of civil war presented in Far Cry 4. Would love to see it one day but keep up the good work regardless!
It is a good Improvement to Far cry 3 and Pegan Min was hands down my favorite part of FC4. (I know, shocker). FC3 is still my personal fav. Jason’s “Frat Boy” personality I fucking admire especially his decent into madness unlike Ajay who I found pretty boring, and see as a playable npc that can kill…cool. I’m sorry I never felt much for him. I know we don’t always need a carbon copy of Jason/Ezio or Edward Kenway but I think it’s possible to put more flare I guess in his character. Edit: Yogi & Reggie should’ve caught bullets in the end or scraped them completely👌🏻
Idk I related a lot more with Ajay since I too don't really say much. Jason talking so much took me out of the immersion a bit. So it's just preference imo.
@@shaun8269 Yeah I get that, it just does not make alot of sense in terms of the games narrative... you need Ajay to react considering the revelations regarding, Pagan, and his mother and father
I think you're right about Pagan eventually wanted to make a great leader out of Ajay. If you get the secret ending, you fly off with Pagan on helicopter where he probably would teach you how to rule Kyrat. And in the regular ending , where you decide not to kill him, after you scatter Ishwari's ashes Pagan Min leaves on the helicopter but on his own now, leaving Ajay to rule.
I agree that the slog thru leveling up in the Arena takes awhile. But, it isn't so horrible considering the Bushman is the end reward for getting to Level 10. I like to achieve it by 5 starring all the weapons challenges. I nearly reach level 10 after getting five stars within around one to three tries per weapon, and by focusing on getting as many chain kills as possible whenever the doors are opening at the start of each round. Get to the right door with multiple soldiers behind them to open each round with multiple hundreds of points, before dispatching the rest with as many other chain kills, or stealth with a knife throw, grenade pull, or gunslinger followup as I can muster while ducking and dodging enough to keep alive. By the time Ive completed the weapons challenge list with full five stars, I'm only about 5 more solid rounds of points away from earning the Bushman.
Understandable mistake, don't feel bad, happens to us all. But, ACTUALLY ; @25:38 this is not Shuriken. This is the Weapon from Krull which the closest Earthbound name I belive is a Glaive...which is...a lot bigger Shuriken. LoL.
This is great, personally I like far cry 3 better by a mile and 5 is slightly better in my opinion but 5 and 4 are very very close for me, I love Far Cry games
I personally prefer 4 mostly because at the time its understandable to make a game similar to 3. Because it could get away with it. If 4 was the last game in the series it would probably be liked far more. I also like the story of 4 because pagan is a pretty good antagonist. Hes still a bad person but the golden path isn't much better. And the fact pagan is actively trying to convince you to join him is very compelling. I do prefer how they explain why jason is suddenly able to fight in 3. Because 4 doesn't give any explanation. It makes a bit of sense that jason would become stronger by living in the jungle and doing side missions before saving his friends. Learning how to hunt and fight with experience.
Another reason I prefer 4 is because the endings overall are more believable. 3s good ending makes sense but the bad ending makes no sense. I think it would make more sense for jason to try and fight citra for what she tried to do. Or try to become the sole ruler rather than join her. He walked the path of the warrior not the path of citra. If he wanted to stay and fight he could without citra. His main motivation for most of the story were his friends so killing them doesn't make sense.
felt like a total far cry 3 re-skin. Still to this day, probably my least favourit FC. Wasn't it even revealed later that they 1:1 re used the height maps from far cry 3 just with a nepal setting?
@@Svikter yes you are correct. Still, with all my love for the FC series 4 felt very bland. Maybe I have to give the game a second chance all these years later. I cant really speak on 6 because I haven't finished it. But the gameplay systems in 6 felt bad, very bad. The ammo system was more than annoying. So I'd say yes, 6 would be my absolut least favourit FC game overall... that and new dawn lmao.
I think it’s just a long history of white savior types being used to “save the somewhat inferior natives.” Also Assassin’s Creed hasn’t always had the main character be native. Like Haytham was Welsh in America and Edward was Welsh in the Caribbean
Can't wait to listen to this for the next week while I fall asleep
That’s how I fall asleep too
You and me both
Same lol
I thought i was the only one 😂

Thats a lot of work you put into. Thank you. I loved the game and completed it 100% like 6 times. I love the video too, so detailed. 🎉

Thanks for the comment dude, yeah I will definitely check out dishonored later, but atm its Far Cry 5 next
@ sweet, looking forward to both of those vids
I also replayed through FC4 recently, but I've never heard Pagan's farewell message on the car radio before. That's pretty neat.
i love these long video essays so much❤
Great video essay… waiting for Far Cry 5 video 😊
Primal first!
Love this game brings back good memories

Yeah pretty much many of my points in the video, I think it improved on many aspects of FC3, but also failed on others... spectacularly

Honestly it would’ve been an odd change if Ajax was replaced with Grant. Maybe have him call Jason saying something like “I understand it now”
what😭

Longinus was wrong about revelations 19 11. The verse was actually Proverbs 19:11
Ohhh interesting, wierd mistake from ubisoft
@Svikter right? Luckily I grew up with the Bible and I seen that I was like nope

No I think it was Far Cry Primal that copied the Far Cry 4 map and stretched it
