What sand you used bro. Name of sand?
@@Manikandanib2 caribsea Fiji pink…but to be honest, it’s difficult to crank up your flow without it going everywhere…just thought I’d mention that, I might would use something a little larger/heavier.
Thank you for your video . Awesome. Question. How did you dose the calcium and alk ??
@@nodieskysgonzales hi there, great question. I dosed basic 2 part (soda ash and calcium chloride) using two separate dosers. I dosed 12 times throughout the day and made sure to dose each part not too close together in time to prevent precipitation. Hope that helps!
@zburnreefing thanks for the info . Much appreciated. But I don't have any idea how to . I am tired of killing corals
Died off cause the heaters were right there imo but def agree with you
They are virtually silent. I have never encountered a more quiet skimmer.
The advice about seeing algae pop up and glass get dirt is good advice because when I started I would freak out and clean it and feed less and change lights all for a little bit of algae
@@MichaelKaldorfishing same here…had to learn that a little bit of algae is a good thing and if you have no algae whatsoever then it is unlikely your corals are getting what they need.
My cats love the smell lol
Are you a Oregon local
@@xhongxina286 use to be…now live in Utah
can you share your parameters and what are you using as your source of dosing
@@EIY_Kumar I dose ESV Bionic 2 part. For parameters I target an alk of 7.5-8, ca of 420-440, and mag of 1350.
If read sea sees that most users don't like the reservoir for RO water why they even include it in the product! It should be optional so that we don't buy it. They could add an option of a bigger one that you put somewhere outside the stand. It is silly to be filling it up every 3 days.
I love your videos so much! Big thanks from Brazil!! 🇧🇷 please dont stop. Inspiring on you. Where have you got this MH? Is there some place in the US lilke a marketplace that i can buy used items? Thanks
Thank you for your kind feedback. Yes, I need to get some more videos ready! :) My MH fixture I got off Reef2reef. It’s a great forum and they have a selling goods section. You can still buy them new from Germany, but they are quite expensive. Sometimes eBay has them as well - it’s a Giesemann Spectra.
@@zburnreefingthank you! Have you changed your feeding method? You do once a week?
@@Dibilibix27 no real changes. Feed fish heavy each day - pellets, nori, and mysis. I also feed coral particulate foods about twice a week to keep nutrients up. Usually reef roids and benepets. If phosphate gets too high, I’ll cut back on the coral foods temporarily. I also will feed some oyster feast a couple times a week as well.
@@zburnreefing Nice! Last question, could please send me the link or name of your two part with traces. Is the ESV, but I didn't find all together.
@@Dibilibix27 www.bulkreefsupply.com/1-gallon-package-esv-b-ionic-calcium-buffer-system-bundle.html?queryID=84855b7b0639b027d64db8a1a93b6861&objectID=11269&indexName=brs_prod_m2_default_products
Would you buy this tank/strand again or switch to something else?
Tbh, I’d probably go with something else. For 2 reasons…1) this downflow valve is so finicky and a constant annoyance to adjust and 2) I hear of too many horror stories of the G1 tanks busting a seam. I think the G2s are much better built now but I just despise the downflow valve. Some say if you swap it for a gate value it’s more easy to tune, so perhaps I’ll give that a go.
Great! Balling? Calcium reactor, what are you using to replace macro and micro?
I'm dosing ESV Bionic 2 part (which has some trace) and water changes.
Mine cost $25k just to start!
😳!
Very good video
Thanks so much! Hopefully a few tidbits of useful information in there!
This is where the real growth starts happening 😤
Are you in America or Canada. What currency are you talking about please.
US dollars
Haven't done a water change... Just refill when getting low. Tank is thriving
Nice! How old is tank? Any pics posted on any of the reefing forums? I'd love to check it out.
Only mistake you have done so far as I can see is keep a total. I would Nix that. lol.
sussy intro
I’ll take that as a compliment
Looking to get back in the hobby. Im leaning towards a Red Sea because their sumps seem to have room for their reefmat. Have you thought about getting a reefmat? You also posted that you would have looked into a waterbox. Any reason why WB would be better? Thanks
Honestly, after I purchased this tank, there were several stories of generation 1 tanks starting to blow out due to seam failure. I am not sure I’ve seen where at G2 has failed, but it has me on edge a little bit. Risk is probably low, but there has been just a few too many seam failures for me, at least enough to consider other options besides Red Sea…I’d also look at innovative marine, waterbox, and aqua forest. I like the reefmat for sure, I’ve just never gotten one because my tanks are always too clean. In fact, when I vacuum out my sump, my nutrients dive and some of my corals pale out on me.
very nice indeed. the timeline is so interesting and it can see the growth of each coral over a year.
Thank you!😊
I didn’t have luck with my apex. Inconsistent, and overall just sh*t! Got rid of it and much happier,!
Yea, it definitely has me on edge at times. TBH, not loving the system either.
Wow! Great job! 👏💯🙌🔥✌️
Tanks looking good , that growth too 👌🏼👏🏼
My tank was devastated with velvet. Its so hard to see my tank fallow
That is terrible; sorry to hear it. Keep your head up and persevere!
NICE!! What salt do you use?
Thanks! I have been using tropic Marin pro reef salt. Seems to keep my parameters stable. I also have used reef crystals for years but don’t love the high alk when doing larger water changes.
incredible growth
Nice growth for a year and good colors 👍
💯
Fantastic growth! I’m at about half of that and honestly happy with my growth. Yours is next level!
Thanks for tuning in and checking it out!
I enjoyed this video. For me right now my nemesis is Bam Bam's Zoanthids & a blueish green paly that I do not know the name of. They are growing over and into other Zoanthid colonies on my rock work.
Really incredible growth just 1 year in with that tank! I'd love to hear you recap to your challenges to get here and what you have plans for next.
Appreciate the feedback! There has definitely been some ups and downs. I’ll get a video up describing those downs for sure! Not getting too down mentally and pushing through may just be the key.
Everything’s looking good. I just picked up an ORA red Goni from Cherry Corals at a frag swap. It’s doubled in size in like 2 months. Yours is huge.
That’s awesome; great choice! One of the most bullet proof gonis out there for sure. Mine seems to enjoy occasional feedings of reef roids.
Really exceptional growth on the BC pieces! Well done. Nice recap!
Thank you! Patiently waiting for my darn pearl berry to grow, thanks to the inspiration from one of your past tanks…there were a few select pieces I didn’t highlight in this video because they just don’t want to grow for some reason. Maybe year 2 right? 😅
@@zburnreefing We all have those pieces. These days I have to nurse many of these stunted small frags into an actual healthy growing frags first. Slow process and very frustrating. Getting a healthy growing frag with growth tips is key! Not always available though.
I hate you! you just gave me another reason to surf on amazon for camera. Damn it!
That is a beautiful fish
I have pods in my reef tank.
You deserve more subs my man. That was an amazing, informative video
Thanks! Really appreciate it!
I once had a brittle star
What kind of fan do you have on your reef?
Hi there, in this video the tank just has a small 6 inch clip on air king fan. I have found it to be the quietest, so have stuck with it. I've had others on there, including those much more expensive, but they have been quite loud.
Are you an educator by trade?
Haha, I am not sure if your comment is a good thing or a bad thing. I am an associate professor at a major university, but I don’t teach, I lead a research lab. I do guess lecture on occasion though.
@@zburnreefing Meant to be a good thing! I could tell based on your presentation techniques.
I love green stars you do need to isolate them but in the back I've had success just put some stingers on the sides of them stops that growth
Beautiful tank man! Battlecorals has some lovely acros. But bro you should see my dino growth, its astonishing 😅
Thanks so much! It’s not all fun and games here either. I’ve got quite the algae outbreak on the sandbed….luckily not Dinos…yet
What is the green glow device,? On the left and right upper corner, feeding ??
Hi there, yep, that is a feeding cup. It ensures when you drop pellets they sink into the water column rather than float immediately down the overflow.
I just got this it’s kicking butt in just a few hours
One thing this video showed is a full SPS reef is really 2/3 years minimum to fully see your vision.. nice work man 🤝🏾🫡
Hello I stumbled upon your channel and found this video you did about coral colors. I really appreciated the content. I've got a much better understanding now thanks to your photos and explanations. I consider myself a type of person that learns better visually rather than listening to a lecture or reading. Thank you.
Awesome! Thanks so much; glad you found it a little useful.
