Just a tip for the tortillas. If those are flour which I’m pretty sure they were. You do not use a tortilla press for flour tortillas. I see it being used incorrectly quite often. It’s only for corn tortillas. ❤️
Your little girl is so adorable! She intently watches every thing you do!
She is hilarious, and often convinced she can do it better than me. She’s going to be an awesome help someday. 💕 Thank you for the kind words, and thank you for watching!
Lint is gross? It’s just broken cloth fibers. From cleaned items that you later put on your body or dry your face with.
It’s gross when it’s piling up and not easily removed. Also gross when wet on the fins. 🤷♀️
I’m going to do this tomorrow as a bbq chicken pizza wish me luck and thank you for sharing ❤ !!!!!
You’ll be amazed with how easy it is!!
How long does it take to do a lesson?
I never spend more than 15 min. I have 2 other kids in various levels, so we keep it pretty tight. You could play the games longer if you’d like, but we rarely did for the sake of keeping things moving along.
So 15 minutes for the lesson and a game ? Or 15 for game. And 15 for the teaching part? Sorry confused- we have been using right start level d. We have 20 lessons to finish. She will be in 4th grade.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thank you! Subscribed.
Glad to have you! Thanks for taking the time to comment. It really helps small channels like mine. 💕
I have had my GE all in one for about 3 weeks and I adore it. I am a bit nervous about longevity, so I am diligent about cleaning the lint and got those lint brushes. We did purchase a warranty just in case, but man laundry is a breeze right now!
I know! We did love the ease. I hope you don’t have the same experiences we did. It was smooth sailing for 7 months. Keep it clean for sure!
Oh my gosh, only now have i found your channel. I have five children, and just feel ay a loss about how to feed them Really nutritiously while stretching our food budget as fas as possible - it sounds dramatic, but these videos are life changing for me! More infor about the meals you prep from all of your wonderful canning etc would be so incredibly helpful. Thank you so, so much for taking the time to do this.
I’m actually recording the last of my upload for this weekend now, and it’s items heading to the freezer to make life easier! I really appreciate your comment. Often it’s easy to wonder if our life resonates with anyone, but you’ve confirmed that for sure! Have a blessed day! 💕
I just found you and I may be a little late. First let me say I would love to see and hear stories of your family recipes. Also, we had a great Pyrenees for years and he was one of the best dogs we have ever had. At the time we had very small grandchildren and he was so good with them.
Thank you for the info! We don’t have any pups yet, but I appreciate the info!
Could you add powdered eggs to the mix or in a small jar to be added to the mix? Thanks for the video, looking for something like this
Yes you can! Just make sure to adjust the amount of water added.
I made biscuits mix this week

Looking forward to having you around!!
Thank you for your video. Great info.
🖤
Great video! Did you use soft or hard ground wheat?
I used hard. I tried not to get too in the weeds with the flour conversation, as most will buy AP. Definitely could have used soft for the cake, but I ground a bunch at once and let it be. Normally I used 1/2 bread and 1/2 hard white for my pizza crust, but I’ve used a bunch of variations.
Love this ! Just got an ank !! I am learning..
Geez. 9 months isn't very long. My machine is 7 months old. Fingers crossed. I really hate to have to go back to a 2 machine laundry and outside venting of the dryer. Thanks for the recommendation. I sincerely hope I won't need it.
Same here. My husband wasn’t happy with the outside vent being back in the game, or the 2nd machine. That said, it’s WAY faster, and we haven’t had one thing stuck in the door gasket completely soaked. I really hope they nail it down, but it just wasn’t here yet, no matter how much I cleaned it. Best of luck!
When you use powdered buttermilk in the waffle mix, it’s 1 cup per recipe? Did I see that correctly? I want to make some of this. 😊
I did. The recipe calls for regular milk, but I use powdered buttermilk instead. It calls for 3 cups of milk, so I just used the cup to replace based on the directions on my powdered buttermilk package. I was initially mixing it up on the side instead of incorporating with the dry ingredients. This is also doable in any other recipe calling for milk. I LOVE powdered buttermilk because of its shelf life, since we don’t drink much regular milk at all.
@@thehometownhomestead Thank you
We raise steers and it is so much better
Agree completely!
Here’s the bottom line. Having raised gardens, farm animals etc for almost 50 years. You spend as much overall BUT end up with premium quality and much more quantity than the homemaker who purchases all from grocery store.
I bought a cookbook years ago called Make Your Own Groceries. It’s wonderful. Homemade taco seasoning mix, shake and bake mix, onion soup mix, etc.
That’s awesome! We do those same things. I’ll have to check out that cookbook. Thanks for the recommendation!
Is it ok to premill your flour and not use it right away? I heard you have to use it right away to have all the health benefits.
You do lose some of the benefits of freshly milled. That said, if I had used AP, none of those benefits would have been there anyway. For the sake of comparing to what’s on the store shelf, you’re still way ahead to mill it in advance. One alternative would be to jar up the other ingredients, put them in a very small jar and write the amount of flour to add as one of the missing ingredients.
freezing the flour helps save some of the nutrients.
These both look and sound amazing. I can hardly wait to make them for my family..God bless you and your dear family..Sherri-Payette Idaho

Thanks for watching, Sherri! See you back next week! 🙌🏻
Thanks for showing us how to make our own, healthier, cheaper mixes. I appreciate you sharing the links for the different mixes. Have a wonderful week!!
You’re welcome!! Thanks for watching!
Hey, new subscriber from Australia ☺️ i just wanted to say thank you for the video. I haven't compared homemade mixes to store brought pre mixes. Food here has sky-rocketed, so i have a feeling our savings would be higher again. On average, it costs $350+ per week to feed our family of 5. It's time for me to get back into food preservation & bulk buying and just make the time. I have had enough of the costs & disgusting ingredients. If you can even call them that. 😂 Thank you for the reminder. 🥰
Great to have you! It really is disgusting to see what they’re passing off as food these days, isn’t it? WOW! Groceries are expensive our your way. Hopefully you can find a few extra ways to cut expenses. Thank you for watching, and I can’t wait to “see” you back soon!
The savings are MUCH larger if you compare homemade mixes using organic ingredients vs. pre-made organic mixes. ASTRONOMICAL difference! That's considering if you can even find a certain organic mix! Here in Nebraska, that can be tough to do.
Agree! My personal ingredients are organic, but for the purposes of showing just how cheaply we can do this, I compared conventional ingredients. It really doesn’t take any time to do it. Even when I was filming, I couldn’t believe I completed 3 in approximately 5 min.
Thank you for doing this! We have in the past several months tried to stay away from certain packaged ingredients and cook/bake from scratch. I kept pausing the video to tell my husband the cost savings - even he was shocked! That pizza dough label with the “warning” was quite concerning! I shocked that is allowed to be sold!! 🤯
Same! I redid the math multiple times, actually. The thought is that they’re “cheap” as is, but in reality, they’re way overpriced! If you know anyone else who might like it, please share! 💕
Love the idea of making your own mixes...not only for the $$ savings, but to eliminate the nasty ingredients in the prepackaged mixes!!! Thanks for the inspiration!!
I have this unit, took me week to figure out there was an issue. The filter allows lint to plow by and blog the heat pump coils, cuaseing it to increase dry times and over heating. However, there is fix, a couple videos on TH-cam show the fix, add weather stripping to back, and bottom and top. I did this and now have never had any lint in the lower drain plug filter. Works great now, no issues. I was super frustrated until I figured this out.
I know exactly the post you are referring to. I am using the silicone sealant around the filter. I also clean out the filter and area after EVERY use (and when using the new Pet hair feature, I clean the filter before the wash starts, to remove hair and dander from the filter). I've never had clumps of lint inside the filter chamber. My machine is 7 months old and I really love it. Fingers crossed that the machine will last - for both of us. Good luck!
I cant get one of these machines for 25 years which is when my speedqueen washer warranty expires. Haha Great review!
Speed Queens are great!
Spotted your ankarsrum 😍 yes!!!!
I love her. 😆
Pamper stones are the greatest.
Love them!!
First time watching your video's. Great content and enjoyable to listen to.....thank you (from Ottawa)
Glad to have you!
Not to sound silly, but how do you store your butter? All in one fridge or do you have an extra fridge for things like that? I’m so glad I came across your channel! 😊
I freeze it. We have an extra freezer and it lasts a long time once frozen. No impact to quality or texture once thawed. Glad you found me too! Hope to see you back soon. 🙌🏻
I saw someone also make scrambled eggs poured into a sheet pan to bake then cut into squares to fit on breakfast sandwiches. Looked like it works pretty well.
Yes! Thats a fabulous idea!
Where did you get the little colored cards with the key ring??? Wonderful idea!!! Trying to find ways to simplify MWC so it won’t be so overwhelming when I have baby #6 here soon!
They make life so much easier! Here’s the link. Koogel 300 Pcs Colored Index... www.amazon.com/dp/B08LVM3CD3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I have this combo, and love it but you have to take care of it (which you do a good job showing all of the things you need to do). You can't slack on it either. Did the electrical tape trick as well, which is definitely a fault on GE's part and they should definitely release a new revision of the filter tray. But if you do keep up on it, the machine is fantastic. It has saved plenty on my energy bill. I only wash a load once, it gets them clean and the drying process is much more gentile on my clothes.
Ours ended up dying. 🥴 Hopefully yours lasts for you, because even cleaning very often lead to a critical compressor breakdown. Keep on it, and I hope they eventually get it right, because the idea is fantastic.
put the small item in a bag or place it at the back of the drum
I already do all the suggestions you are giving. Anything that will save me more money?
1. Examine your cost per meal and cut out or limit the most expensive options. 2. Bulk meal prep to cut out on the need for emergency trip for fast food is also SUPER helpful. If you haven’t already, watch the upload I did on this recently, as well as the one vacuum sealing to extend shelf life.
I have never seen that sealer but I do love the one I have. It is just called an electric mason jar vacuum sealer VPO5. Got it on Amazon for less than 30 dollars. There is no separate part. It comes apart to do the wide mouth. Great inexpensive investment!!!! It sits on my counter and is so convenient. No dragging out the big machine. It is an easy way to keep cookies, crackers, chips and cereals, etc fresh. Thanks for helping folks stretch their groceries to keep things fresh!!!
What do you do after you finish LOE foundations? Do you continue with their essentials or do other curriculum?
We just started free reading and doing Gather Round. I didn’t feel the need to do anything else.
Make sure you DO NOT WASH the berries before putting them away. And you don’t even need to vacuum seal them, just put on a lid and they easily last two weeks. Just discovered this about 2 months ago. Would’ve saved me a ton of money over the years had I known back then! 🤗🤗🤗
Mine don’t last the extra time without sealing, but perhaps that’s just a result of keeping all of the little fingers off of them! Thanks for watching, and sharing your experience! Hope to see you back soon!
We don’t wash the berries right?
I was wondering this too. I feel like the microbes already on the produce would contribute to spoilage - sort of like blanching green veggies to make them last longer because you’re killing everything that would eat it in the fridge
What I’ve done is wait to wash. Unless they’re completely dry, the moisture in the jar can impact storage time.
I just use a large beach towel under the bottom filter, soaks up the water and I just throw in the wash - I have a regular front load HE washer, not a all-in-one, and didn't realize that so many people didn't know they had to clean the filter in their washers (it's in the directions)! I do it about every 2-3 months but I also have large double coat dogs so it isn't something I can just ignore. I have even found a dime in it! When we had littles I always washed the little socks in a lingerie bag or a mesh laundry bag, they get just as clean but don't get stuck in the seal which I have had happen with regular front load washers too.
Because this machine does wash and dry, the filter is critical. It won’t pump out water in the wash or dry cycles if it gets clogged. I cleaned mine monthly, and that wasn’t enough. But yes! It’s in the manual for sure. Reading the directions provides valuable info! Thanks for watching!
I love that you are teaching your kids🤗
Thank you! I honestly don’t know any other way because they’re always close by. 💕
You need a funnel to help get the flour and other stuff into your mason jars!
I have one. I was just overly confident in my ability, since there are much larger openings than a traditional wide mouth. 😆 I’d definitely grab one next time.
