    cdpr games are garbage game with uninspired combat with only one click button for action attack and you win. you're unworthy. they didn't even adapt gothic properly. they literally just copied gothic 3's overall design. you're blinded by the truth they were inspired by freaking gothic 3. not gothic 1 or 2, that's why they NEVER adapted the combat learning progression with the 3 stances which one of the best parts. get lost already you newbies.

    And the steam deck uses this technique for every game on the steam deck. I love this style and Stronghold, Desperados, Robin Hood, RollerCoaster Tycoon and ZooTycoon totally represent my childhood ! Fortunately there is a new wave of games coming with this art style and one of the most promising and amazing looking ones is "Bustling World" set in ancient China. It is in 3D but totally respects the isometric style and point of view. It looks even more seamless and smooth ! I hope this isometric style gets really popular again, and we get to see a lot of new Games with these kind of visuals for a lot of different eras.

    That "bad voice acting" is intentional. The Nyras guy was a nut even before "The Sleeper" "spoke" to him. it is there to underline who you speak to in a funny, and self-aware way, as far as expectations of the player. I say that I keep being surpised by people thinking this was "mishandled/inaccurate" VA. I see how Mandalore or Sseth are somewhat "ajar", but not definitive in tone about it(even if Mandlore says it is bad- it is bad IN WHAT WAY? i ask, and I see that we differ in innate perception), and that i can understand from how they commentate on the whole thing, it sure stands out at first glance, but it isn´t without purpose, and doesn´t not "tell" why it is so. The whole ordeal´s tone stands on that very delivery. These NPCs and lines enhance the overall experience for me, and It makes a lightheartedly "chill from mine POV" streak of NPC madness come alive. I really see no objective fault to say the VA is bad. Depends on your expectations. IMO, it is just as good as most any other VA in the game. it just clashes with what I can only see as funny competing with serious. I adjust my perception of the world, i do not see the "guy" as "being impossible/ badly portrayed", In my mind, surprising, but within reason, as is expected, no coercion, and I see no issue. It worked with me. It just shows that even the "now traveled" Gothic "nameless" is still the same guy, and can still get pranked, or find shit in his jacket´s pockets, as what separates him from the others is not thinking he has it figured out, but he is being humane and aware. He has his connections and friends, and The world largely functions with him in it, and not because of him, no matter how important and weighty his role some of the time. It just makes sense in my mind, and is a part of why I like it, as it serves as a steering device that keeps the contrast between the active, but still human hero, compared to most others. Atleast to me, it paints a picture of the motivation and restrained smarts of the hero, and of what makes him survive the ordeals when compared to most lamenters around, that are, for the most part, just like him, except for his determination.

    • @GameTalesHQ
      @GameTalesHQ 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I find the overall voice acting to be a bit inconsistent. But I find it more charming than jarring. Nyras was definitely played for laughs intentionally. I think overall it could've been better but it didn't detract from the experience.

    100% in agreement. At least Indie game makers can still utilize this style. I will never get over how beautiful those years were, and I have a difficult time playing games from any other time. Divine Divinity (one of THE best RPGs ever made), Beyond Divinity (haven't beaten yet but on Act II), Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader, Fallouts 1 & 2, Diablo 1 & 2, Arcanum, C&C Tiberian Sun, and oh so many more... Wanna make a hit game? Isometric pre-rendered graphics. Newer game that hit it perfectly was Pillars of Eternity.

    Truly phenomenal! But the sad thing is that these modern open world games that are fully rendered have no creativity whatsoever. I think Total Annihilation was an important step on the path away from pre-rendered graphics. It mixed a pre-rendered isometric environment with real-time 3d rendered units and 2d explosion sprites. The logic for this (as explained in the marketing for the game at the time) was that increasing screen resolutions and frame rates required vastly more pre-rendered sprites per unit type to achieve smooth rotation, so real-time rendering was actually cheaper.

    Why the focus on only isometric perspectives? Some of the most beautiful pre-rendered graphics aren't isometric. You could have included both with a few extra minutes in length.

    • @GameTalesHQ
      @GameTalesHQ 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I wanted the video to be short and sweet with a focus on isometric games but couldn't think of a more catchy title than this. That's why I start the video saying what it's about. I never expected it to do this well though. There are other video's on YT that focus on the Pre-rendered background titles from the PS1 if you want more :) Also, I grew up with PC games and missed most of the adventure, JRPG's and horror games that used this graphical technique sadly. (Played a couple of 'em later in life)
