The problem with writing a story with fucked up shit is that if you write it too lightly it won’t be viewed as fucked up but if you actually make it fucked up you risk people bitching and complaining about it being fucked up. And then you get people who complaint about the story being fucked up and treating the fans of the story like people who have no morals

I feel like the one thing we can get with Nanchis rerun arc is that she gets to say good bye to mitti herself. Yes she did say goodbye to mitty before but Reg is the one who pulled the trigger. This time, Nanachi does it. Probably helping her feel like less of a coward for having to rely on someone else to end the person she herself loved.

2 things. The first is that during this scene 18:48 I was watching it with my friend and she literally said "Dam, they spawn killed" Funniest shit ever!!! The second is I'm not coming back for season 3, this series has gone to far that the world building and characters did not matter anymore because of the author's NASTY ASS shit. At a certain point it wasn't about how much I enjoyed the story being told, but more of how much I am willing to tolerate. And there are better series out there where the author isn't a MAP

Season 2 definitely amped it up from 'gross to add to the horror' to 'gross for just being gross and indulging in fet**h' to 'why did you feel the need to write this' The fight scenes were cool and I love the main 3 and the designs of new monsters/character but past that it's a no. I was a manga reader and felt uneasy about continuing after that, but in the chapters to follow.... I had to stop it got to be just like... Overt cp and there is really no excuse for that the author is so gross

heavily disagree with the thumbnail but fionna and cake really managed to put as much good content as possible in just 10 episodes. i was a bit doubtful at first, looking for flaws because of how sequels and spin offs tend to be bad cashgrabs but i was delightfully surprised. simons feeling of not fitting in the world he found himself in was something that i can also relate with. the winter wonderland section was beautifully animated. the 90s pc game part was also really cool to see. fionna and cake manages to be very consistent with the adventure time style, keeping the beautiful and intricate backgrounds and other elements the style typically has but you can kind of see a slight visual difference between the two shows- AT is a little more simple looking, while F&C adds a few more details, just that little extra realism into the designs of its human and humanoid characters, but tbh, its hardly noticeable. i am so happy that the show didnt have simon put the crown back on- instead fionna and cakes universe became "canon" (though im not entirely sure of what happened there) and the situation resolved itself, but without it having to go for any cheap and boring and lazy narrative solutions. there is much more i would like to say about the show, im even considering rewatching it not even 2 months after watching it for the first time. the only complaint i have currently is that i really wish Scarab was a bit more than just the Party Pooper of the show bc i really like his concept as a character and his design (not the human form though, that one was lowkey traumatizing). Sadly the show is getting a 2nd season for some unknown reason, which makes no sense to me since it ends just... right. Its perfectly self contained, i believe. Is there anything else they can and should expand on, really? I once again keep my expectations low. Anyways, if they do release a season 2, they better use it as a chance to make Scarab a less one dimensional character. Not necessarily redeem him (though plot wise it would make sense for him to be) but at least make him a bit more than Guy Obsessed With His Job.

Yeah I dropped the show at season 2 episode 4 because two separate unnecessary (as in, not contributing to the themes of innocence or plot) 😮scenes of tentacles groping Riko (notice how the toilet had tentacles) was already too much but then Iranui kidnapped robot guy and started sniffing his dick through his pants and that’s literally just hentai

I remember really wanting to like this show, but being so off-put by even the first episode that I couldn't latch onto it at all. I remember leaving the first episode just feeling genuinely baffled by how little attempt there was to even get the audience to care about what was going on. They had 20 minutes to sell me on this premise and they spent it just stretching out this one idea that we already understood within the immediate exposition. It felt like just watching this big robot guy wander around beautiful backgrounds doing nothing, occasionally interacting with characters we have no reason to care about, then the episode ends. I think "cartoony" art styles absolutely can be used for more serious stories like this. Tons of anime, including the mentioned works of Ozamu Tezuka, managed this effortlessly. From an artist's perspective, though, the reason why the style here doesn't work here is that there is very little attempt from a character-design standpoint to provide any real sense of consistency. Some characters have petite features and are clearly very inspired by older anime, then you're immediately slapped in the face with characters that border straight-up caricature levels of over-detailing. One Piece is a series you could argue is also a victim of this, but in the case of One Piece, I never have a moment where I think "This character does not fit here at all," because to some extent, *everyone* looks weird and exaggerated, giving the series a defining signature to its designs philosophy. Dead Leaves is another anime that I believe succeeds in being visually unusual without it taking away from the tone. In Unicorn Warriors Eternal, I could immediately clock which characters were meant to be Tezuka inspired, which were meant to be Fleischer inspired, and which were more or less just Genndy's Hotel Transylvania style. It felt like an unpleasant mish-mash of contrasting styles rather than a new style created from the combination of others. I don't even think a combination of styles like this is impossible, Roachgore on Twitter is a perfect example of this concept executed well. In the end, I don't even think it's really that the style is the problem. The monkey in your brain just loves patterns and consistency; it latches onto them. Unicorn Warriors Eternal gives your brain little to no pattern to latch onto.

When I started watching Season 2, I was thinking of Studio Ghibli and it gave me such a good heartwarming vibe with “a touch”(or 2) of Abyss to it. I never expected it to turn out like Berserk Eclipse at all…

I'm just really tired of business interests rehashing beloved stories into formats (both visual and lengthwise, I think you're right on target here, this show wasn't meant for 1hr episodes) that hamstring what we loved about those stories. It's like taking ingredients out of a BLT sandwich and still calling it a BLT. It might still be good, but a BLT it is not.

Idk maybe I'm desensitized to this since I've been watching anime, and consuming light novels as far back from 2001. this is a bit of a rant since i dont have anyone who watch this show as well... so i watched s1 and the movie and im really confused why mc is the mc? shes so bland and nothing special? and everyone keep forcing the robot dude to help her make me asking why again and again... also this show is so obv someone fetish but if you want to make it gore atleast make the consequences heavier? make the mc lost an arm, why not? also in s1 and the movie the rabbit girl thing is much better mc! she much more likable which is funny for me since the mc does nothing except for crying
