I was having a rough week when this show came out and I had a good time with it. Visually, it was refreshing. The plot analysis here isn't wrong at all. But I think it's a fun time if you need something to watch. Also, absolute banger of an OP and the ending is great too.
You're right, there's definitely fun to be had with the series, but it's still kind of a mess. BNA does get a point for that ED though, I still listen to that track all the time.
Personally, I.. love-hate it? It's more full on dissapointment. The concept is pretty interesting even if not original; the execution.. the visual design and animation of Trigger is just fantastic. I wanted to love it. And at the end I didn't hate it, just. Became very dissapointed. But it was certainly a experience and I enjoyed that. Like I wish Trigger had more time to work with the concept? The ending feels absolutely rushed, out of nowhere most of the time, and pretty exagerated. Things just happen because they happen, and it almost ends like a Disney movie. Something so serious is almost shrugged down. And it's not like I'm a huge critic.. there's plenty stuff I've enjoyed even if they weren't the best thing. As a Trigger and furry, I wanted to LOVE this show; but in the end I'm just dissapointed by it because I wanted it to be *better* I really did want it to be awesome from start to finish. But at least, again I got an experience, because Trigger delivers on that. I wonder if with more episodes or time, they could've done better.. also, Michiru rules.
But then again, I admit, I haven't seen it since it came out, only watched it once; overall I remember more how dissapointing it was, but I also remember some parts of it were really good, specially the ones that are ''real'' or ''deep'', there were some good seeds in the show but overall not a specifically amazing ending. I truly do wonder, would all these problems fare better if the show was given more episodes instead of the streaming rate? Like, full on 26?
This show to me fumes inspiration from the 80s not just the Outrun aesthetic but the Baseball, The action men characters it just scream movies like The Natural, MacGyver
