How Different Can Two “Aggressive” Hardtails Be?
STEEL IS REAL!
I hope you're a hardtail geek like me! In this video I review my experience on two aggro steel hardtails from Dawley Bikes. The Eponym- Enduro Hardtail, and the Rallye- Trail Hardtail. Give it a watch and hit the like button if you enjoy the video. Also feel free to ask any questions about my experience with these two rigs.
*One thing I neglect to mention in the video is the Eponym I'm riding in this video is not my original Eponym. I'm calling it the "V2" because I replaced the original frame with Dawley's updated version which has a redesigned rear triangle among a handful of other refinements. All the geo numbers are the same as my original..
The trails in this video are all located in Newhall, CA.

In this video I get out for a rip with pro rider and Specialized ambassador, Spencer Rathkamp on our Specialized Stumpjumper Evo's. This video is obviously all in good fun and we had a killer time out riding our bikes. As someone who's often leading the DH charge in my groups of riding buddies my major take away anytime I ride with Spencer is how much faster he really is. It's awesome. It's als...

The Tale of a Very Realistic Bike Build: Binary Maniak
มุมมอง 11Kปีที่แล้ว
Sometimes building a complete bicycle from the ground-up is a very Zen experience. Other times you're dropping parts, nothing fits, you don't have the right tools, you have to make a run to the shop, and it takes 10x longer than you planned. In this episode you can witness the latter. Despite the challenges we faced on this build we still had a ton of fun with it and ultimately got to film this...
Ripping my Steel Hardtail while testing a GoPro Max
มุมมอง 1.3Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video I ride some of my local trails on my Dawley Eponym steel hardtail to test a few different camera angles using a GoPro max. Overall I'd say this is a fun camera that gives me the ability to get some new POV's in first and third person scenarios. I thinks some of the stuff is fun to play with but perhaps draws a little too much attention to the wild earth-bending look. However, some...

I took my 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ Sport up some rugged Santa Clarita 4x4 trails to hit a downhill run on my Stumpjumper EVO. It was cold, it was windy, and it was a little bit sketchy but a really adventurous morning combining two things I love to do! The 1up USA Super Duty Double Bike Rack: long term. Is it really the best?
มุมมอง 59K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a review of my 1up USA Super Duty Double rack. It's meant to replace the video I did over a year ago on the same topic. That original video had some issues that kept being brought up by the audience so I decided to revisit the topic for a quicker and more informational approach. Enjoy!

This will be a fun insight to various rider's garage setup showcasing their bikes, storage solutions, memorabilia, and overall garage setup. Bike Racks Cost WHAT?!? The 1-Up USA Super Duty Double Bike Rack
BOSS! Thom Dawley just put my T16 frame (the one that looks like a hardtail but is actually a FS) in the mail to post out to me. Yes, he was great to work with, and was also patient with me on the color...or colour (Dragon's Blood)! I too love my hardtails, yet I'm stoked to get this thing built up. It was fun watching this one come together, thanks!
Awesome! Congrats on the new whip! I haven’t ridden a t16 yet but I’ll bet you’ll love it
why do you use such narrow bars?
All the bars on my bikes are between 780-800. They probably just look narrow because of the wide angle camera lens.
What happend to the channel dude ? Contects great only just found you
It’s on hiatus right now unfortunately. I’ll be back though. Thanks for the good vibes
fun watching that dude rip and create funky lines where I'd just being trying to make the corner haha
Thank you = great summary
How about Stafford Lake Bike Park? Have you ridden there before? Santa Cruz Ca Demonstration Forest and Saint Helena Ca Moore Creek Park are “must try” riding
I rode the upper campus area in SC. Not demo. Never been to those other spots either, thanks for the recs
How about Stafford Lake Bike Park? Have you ridden there before?
I haven’t. Fun?
I had a cheap 29er hardtail before that got me thinking about them and now I want to build a serious aggressive 29er hardtail for all mountain/trail/enduro type riding and maybe some occasional dirt jumping
Looks like the Crack trail or Boyscout trail in Pacifica Ca and I thought I saw some SLO trails and Calistoga Ca trails and some Helen Putnam Park trails in Petaluma Ca (my hometown for ten years till over a year ago)
Almost all the trails in this video are So CA in LA county. There are a couple clips from Bentonville.

I felt the same way for a while before I invested.

The "flat tire" issue can be solved or at least mitigated by strapping the rim to the support arm near the top of the tire. Wide, heavy velcro straps or something similar can be used. At a minimum, the extra straps will keep the bike from falling out of the vertical supports when the tire goes flat. If you use the right straps, it may even help firmly secure the bike in the frame.
This is a good tip 🫡
i run a 180mm travel zeb on my old norco torrent 29er its a mean rig is a little boat like in turning on flat but climbs well and once shes rolling it loves to lean int the berms a little too much on a flow trail its a playful puppy but will still holdup well on chunk and tech even my fullsus mates wanted to trade bikes
when prepping wheels and installing router war gloves while handling rotters because the oil in our skin will corrod the metal and cose them not to work and squial
Good tip! I’m always careful not to touch the braking surface. 👍🏼
Excellent video. Thank you.

Popular rack but overpriced for what it is.
Which rack do you prefer?
Great video
That looks real fun & has me excited to ride my hardtail this weekend. Which trails/network are these?
The trail is called Los Pinetos and it’s located in Newhall, CA.. about 30 min north of Los Angeles
@@ShreddingSpree Oh nice, I'll have to check it out when it's not 90°+ in DTLA. I take it's the black trail & not the blue trail(start looks a bit hard to get to?)?
@@Alex_564 yes, trail forks has it marked as a black trail but I’d say it’s a solid blue. It has a few steeps spots and a couple rough spots however in my opinion it’s only difficult if you’re going fast. The climb is a little tough. It’s called the beast because it’s so long with minimal protection from the sun. The trail is worth the cost of admission though.
@@ShreddingSpree Oh nice. Looks like I'll check it out in the fall. Have you done the section rated blue, is that also worth it?
@@Alex_564 I have not and actually don’t know anyone who has. That section drops down the south side of that ridge toward Sylmar. You’d have to climb the mountain again to get back to your car.
How does one deal with fenders, like on a Townie 7D EQ? Does one crush the fender down to the tire to take up slack?
I don’t have an experienced answer for this one. I know 1up offers a fender cushion accessory but am personally unaware of the amount of flex it causes on fenders.
Thanks for this succinct review!
Could this be used on a fat tire ebike with fenders??
Yes but may require their fat tire spacer kit and fender cushion accessories.
Thanks for the video! Just bought a 2 bike, based mainly on your off-road video... answered my question! Taking the bikes on the Rubicon now....
Rad! Have fun!
Can i use for 2 suron bike
Are they under 75lbs each?
Size S4? Thank you
Mine is S3
What is your wheel/tire combo and tire pressure (avg)
In this video I had the same setup on both bikes. 2.5 DHF (front) and 2.5 Aggressor (rear) Both are Maxxis For trails I run 21 psi in the front and 23 in the rear. I just swapped the rear on the rallye for a 2.4 maxxis dissector so we’ll see how that goes.
I’m running similar setups(but 2.6’s) on my Rootdown and Middlechild. Typically run 15-17 up front and 20-23 out back depending on how chunky I think the trail will be. Going to2.5’s on the RD just to change things up… slightly 🤓
@@TriciaHamilton1969I feel like my tires start folding in the corners when I drop below 20psi
@@ShreddingSpree Same for the rear... Haven't had it happen in front..Yet.... :)
Love the color 😍
Check out Falconer bikes. My buddy Cameron hand makes them in his shop. They're steel and dope af.
Just checked them out. They look cool!
Those are some bombass hardtails.
Fantastic video. Basically solidified that i'll be buying one of these 👍
I've had this rack for 8 years. Several parts wear out and 1up says they are normal wear and tear. Lifetime warranty isn't really useful if it doesn't cover the primary metal parts. Expect to shell out $100s every few years to maintenance. Ease of use this is very versatile and great to get bikes on/off. Don't try to lower it or get into the back of truck when the bikes are on. Not sure I'd buy again. Not sure I've seen a better option.
😊
You succeeded. This was a clear, concise report providing salient information rapidly. No awkward pauses. No run off tangents. Excellent. TY
These would work really well on a mullet, where wheel sway is most detrimental at the rear tire, but if the rim is shorter, then it won't flex as much to the side. I would use steel rims with these if I could find them.
I have a mullet bike! All my previous bikes had 26s so I didn't have experience with bigger wheels until now. 29 at the front and 27.5 at the back!
up the bike-punx!
Are you saying pam? Or pan?
