    Rigd makes a wobnot hitch extension to clear your tire and rack so you can put any bike in first tray.

    • @ShreddingSpree
      @ShreddingSpree  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually recently bought the 1up hitch extender which has a bolt tensioner (as many others do) to minimize wobble. It works fine but definitely wobbles more

    I just used my new super duty 2" hitch rack. IT REALLY NEEDS A BETTER WAY TO UNLOCK AND SWIVEL. 1up wants you to spend $90 more, on top of the $665-$715, for their extremely poor implementation of a latch and positioning thereof, that allows swinging rack up and down!

    • @ShreddingSpree
      @ShreddingSpree  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Releasing that latch without the handle extension with bikes loading is a pain huh.

    Thank you for the video, very helpful. I am buying my Wife and I a couple of very expensive E Bikes next weekend. I was contemplating on buying the Chinese brand name racks and stumbled on 1up. Expensive, made in the USA makes it worth every penny, I will be ordering today.
    Thanks again for the funny and informative vid. I will make sure to let 1up know you're the reason I pulled the trigger!

    Great video. Just a heads up. 1UP now makes an extender that uses their anti-wobble system. So you can extend it out past the spare tire if your kids get bigger bikes.

    I've got the Super Duty Double to carry two 20 inch ebikes (60 lbs each) on the back of a Sprinter RV. I will have to modify the Rear Fenders to accommodate Wheel Clamping System. Additionally, I have the 1UP RacAttack Swing Arm and their Add-On Cargo Accessory. Obviously, all this is costly, but IMO it the best and will when you consider, there is no other Bike Rack available that can do what the above Set-Up can. This is a great feature for a RV Van,

  • @jstar1000
    @jstar1000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've been spending money on nice racks my whole life lol. I just bought the one up super duty double and am waiting for it to ship. I'll be installing it on the rear of my RV mostly. To me its a no brainer, I have thousands of dollars in bikes so to put them on a cheap Chinese made POS is not an option. Made in America, all aluminum, take my money! I will say you can put an extender on your receiver and they make a clamp on device that stabilizes it with a U-bolt and metal plate, then install the 1 up into the extended receiver.

    • @ShreddingSpree
      @ShreddingSpree  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have since started using the extender. It’s good. Been intending on posting an update video about stuff like this

  • @jackreher2302
    @jackreher2302 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just ordered the super duty single... i have a wrangler jk ... but I'm just thinking about getting the 7 inch extender they have on the site for the 2 inch hitch. It comes with the anti-wobble lock... should be snug enough to make the wheel clearance???

    • @ShreddingSpree
      @ShreddingSpree  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I’m running the extender on my TJ now and it clears the spare. There’s a bit more wobble than there used to be but it doesn’t bother me. I slid some thick washers inside my receiver between the extender and receiver to minimize the up/down play it had.

  • @brucesummers7448
    @brucesummers7448 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Best to add a 7" hitch extender to put the rack further back from the rear of the vehicle, a common problem with Jeeps with the spare tire mounted on the outside rear of the vehicle. Basic rack is OK but plan on adding their wheel stop and tire saver and forget about the 1up ramp and buy one for motorcycles and you will need to make your own license plate mount as only the Yakima and Thule racks provide a viable solution (1up works only in the down position and only if not using their ramp.

    • @ShreddingSpree
      @ShreddingSpree  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I added the hitch extender. The rack is a bit more wobbly than I’d like now but it’s a good solution.

    Wheel locks are available. Not integrated, but I actually prefer them to integrated. Plan ahead when you buy your locks. You can get them keyed alike, but only if you purchase them all at the same time. I recommend you buy your hitch lock & wheel locks at the same time, plus a couple extra cylinders for future expansion (for instance, if you start out with a single or double rack, but expect to buy rack extensions for additional bikes). You can always buy extra lock-skewers later, but you can't get cylinders or keys that are keyed the same as your previous. It's a security feature - nobody can get a copy of your key, but neither can you.

    I have the same Jeep Wrangler set up you do and used a 7 inch hitch extender I got off Amazon to bring the rack out far enough that I can flip it vertically when not in use. A very short extender is all you need. The rack raised up vertically takes up less space than when raised to a 45 degree angle. Wobble in the hitch extender is eliminated by using an inexpensive hitch tightener which is also available on Amazon. The one I used was made by “Funmit” but I’m sure any will work.

    A hitch receiver extender might solve a couple of the problems you pointed out.
    The prices are indeed stomach churning, but no one in my family enjoyed the old way and I’m likening it to a quality tool; built to last and hold value.

    • @ShreddingSpree
      @ShreddingSpree  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear that! Unfortunately it already sticks out so far off the back that I don’t really want it to come out any further. Also I feel like it’ll become more wobbly if I add an extender. I’ve got it worked out pretty well now. I might just end up removing the basket from the tire carrier on the Jeep since I’ve just been leaving the rack on the back all the time.

    Had my Super Duty 1UP since Nov. 52lb Giant Trance e mtn bike with 2.3 tires is fine. Being a surfer/windsurfer I'm paranoid about dumping a bike at 80mph, so I use it on local runs. It's a tad wobbly, so I use windsurfing straps on the top tube, through the 1Up 'bar' down below. Then backcountry ski straps on each tire. Wondering if anyone has tips /tricks to end ALL wobble. It's a safety issue for me, if the rack parts fail, I might get a heads up before seeing NO bike back there! That and the lock tumbler keys are so generic, lose 'em like I did and 1UP can dupe 'em, so good luck finding a locksmith to pick that lock. Great real world video, will check out your others.

All in , material and stainless hardware I’m at $280 CAD including very nice ABUS locks. I did have most of the aluminum C channel already and box tubing, otherwise it would have been around $450-$500 CAD
