Consultants need to be more attentive and guide students and interns in the right direction at the right time.

As an attending now, I always give the max reviews and change things up here n there. I never comment on how quiet someone is. I do this because I understand the importance of these evals long term and that some evals can really delay career goals if they come across as negative. Med students are busy, I get it.

NP here. I spent 1.5 years in primary care and it was so draining. The paperwork what ridiculous, too much time in the phone. I spent all my time just trying to help my patients afford medication’s or get access to community resources. I felt like I was a social worker more than a nurse practitioner. I prefer the hospital environment because all your resources are available.

It’s important to make sure the family does not mislead what you tell them. An example was provided to us that the family interpreted for a man who was having his leg amputated. They realized the family did not tell him his leg was being amputated and surgery was stopped.

This was extremely helpful, I am just finishing first year of medical school and its comforting knowing the key themes to absolutely kill it for future oral presentations. Thank you so much for doing this!!

No mention of open and closed ICUs. In an open ICU, don’t hospitalists need to manage patients in ICU (vents, central lines, intubations, extubations)

MS4 here, we don't have "work rounds" where I can go over things with the resident before I present to the attending. Basically I preround by myself (read the charts of pt's assigned to me, at 6 am), then FLY by myself and see the patients because we have to meet the attending at 7:30 am. In the attending's office I have to present my patients... but there's always info I never heard or am missing somehow, so the resident has to step in and "fix" my presentation, and I feel like an idiot lol. That's the daily flow
