    being a dedicated nocturnist, I work 14 on/14 off; also have done 21 on/21 off. the advantage is on days off I get to travel and take care of many personal things.

    Hi thank you so much for the video. This is really helpful. I am thinking about nocturnalist because of higher base salary than day and my preference of job style. Can you share how long have you work as a nocturnalist? For me One of downside of being nocturnalist is not ideal for long term job, due to working at night, changing sleep schedule and stuff. How long are you planning on to do nocturnalist?

      Thanks for watching!! I’m only doing the job for one year. I’m switching to days next year, mainly because of all the downsides you mentioned. Plus I feel like nights can get lonely!

    This may be ideal for me because im nocturnal and really struggle with mornings. Quick question, the 14 hour shift you do, are you the only doctor doing that 14hour?

    How should I prepare my self for this job especially writing good notes in minimum time.
    How to handle anything new which your are not sure and where you look up for guidance like website which can help NP
    .Can I also get any contact info so I ask more separately rather writing in your comments
    Thanks so much

      Hi Nusrat, I’m also considering a Nocturnist position as an NP right now. Are you in CA? Maybe we can connect.

      @MonicaJeong  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Per Google, the salary ranges between $216,783 - 279,245. I don’t know about base salary specifically. That probably ranges a lot based on the pay structure.

    How do you cope with adverse health affects of being up at night? How many you admit on given shift? Awesome channel. Keep it up!

      Thank you!! 🙏🏻 Great question! Honestly I think I’m lucky in that I can switch my sleep schedule in a matter of a day or two. I do use melatonin and sometimes Benadryl to switch back to a normal schedule after a string of night shifts. I haven’t suffered any health issues - just feeling tired and off for a couple of days while I’m switching back and forth!
