This is the first of a series of cruise vlogs I will be releasing covering our bucket list trip to this majestic country.
We spent a total of 12 days on the Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas for an adventure of a lifetime through multiple stops of the beautiful island country of New Zealand.
In this video, I highlight what we did during our stopover in the seaside town of Picton, New Zealand. Arguably one of the most beautiful and scenic points I've ever seen in my life.

Sydney is a good place to live, work, raise a family and although it is very expensive, the earning potential is also good. It is also a very boring city to live in with not much to do other than eat out and go to the beach in the summer.
Prik Thai is one of great Thai restaurants in Sydney, but it is definitely not located in Thai Town. Thai Town of Sydney is actually around Starbucks Haymarket. Walking up and down George Street from Capital Square, you will find 20+ Thai restaurants serving authentic Thai food.
here is the thing I am born and raised here in australia but visit family in india.one thing i have notice since the olympics with the vast migration from the asian, and sub continent countries the food has improved drastically. previously it was suited to the meat and three veg attitude , with the visit to the RSL Chinese and pizza hut as a special outing
😋 Super Bowl in Chinatown has the best authentic Congee ✅ it’s a little pricey but it’s my go to meal after a long flight ✈️
Thanks for the suggestion!
👍✅😜✅👍
Sydney doesn't have French colonial buildings, one of Sydneys original purposes was to try to beat the French at that time.
Sydney is Asia 😂😂😂
馬辣is considered entry level hot pot, popular with tourists. There are much more better hot pot in tp
I’m always willing to try somewhere new if someone is willing to share 👍🏼
You got it Boss, 食令 shabu is a high end Japanese shabu shabu located in Taipei 101. Known for their high end quality of meat and veggies. A set will cost around 50 dollars to 80 if you’re getting seafood. Orange Shabu is similar to 食令 good quality, a bit on the pricier side as well. 詹記麻辣鍋 in my opinion is the best mala flavored hot pot in Taipei that’s reasonably priced, easy to get a table for lunch, but dinner will have 2-3 hours queue time. I think you don’t like the spicy broth, so personally I would highly recommend 食令 in Taipei 101. It’s a set menu with appetizer and dessert. If you get the set with the crab, they’ll use the crab roe and make a porridge that’s really good as well. Dessert is decent too.
DeaHo is legit! So good!👍🏻
Hey Jeff, great video. Next time you’re in Sydney hit up Spice Alley for some food. It’s at the other end of city, past Central Station. Opposite Sydney Tafe. It’s in a restaurant precinct in the suburb of Chippendale.
Thank you for the tips! Just looked it up and looks amazing
Isn't it nice not having to tip some entitled server wanting 20% regardless of the service quality?
The service charge added but no tipping expected system in Australia definitely streamlines it all. I did add gratuity at a few places during my stay in Sydney and they automatically knew I was American and said a big thank you 🤣
Thanks for sharing these great restaurants! Love the Bay Area.
Glad you enjoyed the video
Yummy. If you come to SoCal, Orange County, there is no good Chinese restaurant like in Bay Area.
Bold statement for sure 😉
If you like oxtail go to Max Fried Chicken and order kare-kare with bagong.(fish sauce)
It’s been ages since I’ve had a good kare-kare so thank you much for the suggestion 🙏🏻
I don’t want to be rude but the Bay Area has horrendous Korean foods and average Japanese foods.
All good no worries. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion 👍🏼
@@fomoyolotravel I’m Korean and so is my wife. We often crave a certain Korean food, leave home to go to a certain restaurant, and end up driving back home to cook ourselves. We are from LA Koreatown, so that probably also plays a factor. But, it’s consensus amongst Koreans that the Bay Area doesn’t have good offerings. Primary reason for this is the lack of demand which prevents better restaurants from moving into the area.
@@BKNew2022 I do know LA has excellent choices as I’ve enjoyed a few places there myself. I will say that I genuinely enjoyed the dishes I had at the Korean spot (Daeho) that I covered in my video but totally understand my tastes is subjective and others may find that what I like is not all the great or even lousy choices. That being said, I really appreciate you for watching my video and for being respectful in your comments expressing your opinion. 👍🏼
😋😋😋😋😋
Hey Jeff. I'm on the hunt for the going extinct Dim Sum, such as the Siu Mai With Quail Egg, Gai Jat (Chicken Wrap), Gee Mah Cuon (Sesame Tapioca Roll), Pork Balls, Stuffed Chicken Wing, Pork Blood Jook, Curry Pork Skin, Tong Yoon........
That sounds pretty cool. Any luck in tracking those dishes down? I don't think I've ever tried any of those.
Can't recall where exactly, but black sesame rolls still exists. Possibly in Chinatown or some older restaurants such as Imperial Garden, Grand Palace, or Hung To. The Tong yoon in your mind depends on where it's origin is from.
Your list is actually an amazing menu for any new restaurant to consider offering!!!
Food looks absolutely delicious. Why are you not fat? lol
Thanks for watching and yes, everything was absolutely delicious. I may look relatively healthy in appearance but I'm not so sure about my innards
Marrickville Pork Roll's orignal store is in Marrickville and the one I'd recommend to go to. Totally agree that the bread makes or breaks it.
Thanks for the clarification. I guess it only makes sense that the original storefront would be in Marrickville itself :)
Thanks for sharing. I wanna go eat next time you go on live 😅 just saying 🙇🏻♀️ i love foods i like to try new
Thanks for checking out my video!
Just subbed. It's refreshing to see the title "BAY AREA" foodie spots for Asian cuisine. Usually, it's always LA or Vegas. So thanks for covering this region! 👍
You're welcome! I do know that LA and Vegas have plenty of great places to eat as well but the Bay Area is definitely at the same level in my opinion.
Sydney is a rip off
Sure 👍🏼
20:39 Unfortunately, Marrickville BanhMi is over rated. As we see most visitors to Sydney , this BanhMi is on their list. There is far better out there ! As we Sydney siders know where to go for great BanhMi. For a tourist we understand why they have Marrickville because it’s easy to get to. Cheers Rod 👍
I think somebody else mentioned West Sydney has much better options. Thanks for watching
Thanks for highlighting where I live! You got yourself a new subscriber. Keep it up, Jeff!
Thanks for the sub and my pleasure! I'll be back soon to the Bay
'Thainatown' alone is worth the airfare but watching your vids makes me so &%%^# hungry ;) Thanks for the memories.
My pleasure! I'm hungry too watching my own videos sometimes lol
Tons of dim sum restaurants in the Bay
No doubt
Great content Jeff. I'll be trying out a few things I discovered in this vid. Best of luck with the channel.
Thanks for the support!
Sydney is THE best place to eat on the planet. There are so many places that are really affordable, and you can get any cuisine you can think of.
The transportation system is amazing too.
Don't start with a lie. Melbourne craps on Sydney.

Bay Area ✅ Taiwan ✅ Subscribe ✅
Thanks for the sub!
For locals Hot Pot is the most popular food in Taiwan.
It amazes me how many hotpot spots there are in just Taipei alone.
We often call the Thai area with it’s unofficial name of ThainaTown
Thanks for clarifying that
Subscribed! Just found your channel. Great tips for my upcoming trip to Taichung. Didnt see you eating "chow tau foo" ? From Malaysia :)😀
Thanks for the sub! Unfortunately, chow tau foo won the battle of intimidation this time but some day, I will get a win. What are some top cities you would recommend for foodies to visit in Malaysia?
I don't want to be rude, but, the Bay is one of the only places where chao Chinese exist. Vien houng in downtown Chinatown is a staple. I will definitely fight you on that.
Hey I’m all for suggestions and I don’t find your comment rude at all. No worries. I do plan to keep expanding my video library as time permits to other areas as well so will keep Vien Houng in mind
Which Bay Area 🙋🏻♀️
@@igcm2rain San Francisco Bay Area. I'm sure there are more scattered throughout the US, but, Oakland CA is the only place I know that has Chao Chinese food.
stop talking talking talking, especially unnecessary rubbish.
Meals at your dinner table must be very 🥱. I do really like that word “rubbish” though
Get out to west Sydney for the best ban mi
Thanks for the tip
@JumboHotdog888 Wow and that's all it takes for you to show your true colors? I'm sure you were waiting in the shadows like a vulture for the slightest negative response so that you could you use the "constructive advice" reason to justify how you really feel and your even more harsh words about me just now. If you feel aggrieved by the way I speak and even when I eat, sorry not sorry but maybe you need to look yourself in the mirror and do some soul searching within? You communicate like no one ever taught you how to do so properly whether it is in a personal or professional setting. You can twist the situation anyway you like but I have no respect for someone who is a disrespectful person. Period.
thanks for visiting Sydney, I'm glad you enjoyed the stay. I must comment that you both have great taste in watches. 😊
A fellow watch enthusiast perhaps! Thank you for watching my video
Thank you, Jeff! I'm in the bay area. Hopefully you do a part 2 of this and make it the affordable hole in the wall kind please!
You’re welcome and yes the prices of most of these places were definitely on the pricier side but also me feeding a family of 4 that day too didn’t help with the cost 😉. Definitely will try and find & share my experiences at some more hole in the wall spots
You really love your food!
I was very sheltered from good food as a kid 😉
Jeff, will you ever make a video explaining your decision to quit your corporate job and what inspired you to start this channel?
Yes I do plan to for sure!
Mostly East Asian cuisine
Thanks for the insights 😉
Thank you for this video. I'm going to Taiwan in 3 days 🎉🇹🇼 It has been 24 years I haven't visit my birth country🙂
You must be super duper excited ;) Enjoy all of the good food and everything amazing your birth country has to offer. Safe travels :)
@@fomoyolotravel I'm too excited 😊
The Brit’s would call the pea mash “mushy peas”
It's Mrs Macquarie's Chair rather than Point. Mrs Macquarie was the wife of an early colonial governor, and the story is that she used walk to the chair-like rock most days just to look at the view. I wonder what she would have thought of all the changes since then. And congratulations on pronouncing "Quay" correctly. Many US tourists don't manage that
Thanks for those insights. The word "quay" is more foreign to US folks for sure. I butchered it myself when I first moved to Singapore many years ago and called Boat Quay and Clark Quay "kway"
@@fomoyolotravel You would not have been the first person to do that.
Thinking about this again, Key West comes to mind. A quick check gives ambiguous results, but I'd not be surprised were there a connection.
Next time you come to Australia you should do even more exploring. I would love to see more of your impressions. Also with the condiments… You don’t always get charged. They do tend to in Sydney though. City mentality and all.
Perhaps someday I/we can make it back to Melbourne. Thanks for all of the comments and checking out my videos!
As an Aussie I am keen to know where the authentic food is so thank you for this video!
You’re absolutely welcome and eat some Gai Tod Hat Yai from Caysorn Thai for me 😉
@@fomoyolotravelI will next time I’m in Sydney. I want to try all the three dishes you tried there. I have done the nuclear noodle challenge. How would you say the spice level compares?
@@Angelicwings1 the spice level was not uncomfortable at all and very well balanced. I do think you can ask for more though if that something you prefer and they’d happily accommodate
@@fomoyolotraveloh I am happy with whatever heat they tend to have in Thailand. I don’t want whitened down version. So whatever is authentic I will try.
🤣
Pro tip… If you go to the QVB and aren’t there so much for shopping… It’s even better super early in the morning. Especially at Christmas time. They have a giant tree with crystals and when it’s practically deserted you can really take in the architecture. I’m not sure if you got to see Hyde park or the Domain but if you get off at museum station it’s right by the park. You can walk from there easily to the epic Cathedral which is free to enter as well as a major Museum and the Art Gallery. The museum is a tiny fee but the Art Gallery and Cathedral are totally free. Taronga Zoo was an absolutely brilliant choice. It’s a lovely zoo. However, darling Harbour offers four attractions within walking distance. Madam Tussauds, another small zoo and the Aquarium (which has Pig the Dugong!) are all next door to each other and you can get a pass for all three. About 15mins walk away there is the Maritime Museum which has submarines and things you can explore as well as really cool exhibits.
Thank you so much for adding so much additional info for me and other future viewers reading your comment. Super helpful 😃
@@fomoyolotravelNo worries! I don’t live in Sydney. I actually live 6hrs away by train or about 3-4hrs by car. I have family in Sydney and I’m a musical nerd so I go when I can and I love to explore though. How cool was the view from Taronga though? Also the ferry ride is so lovely.
Jeff, will you ever make a video explaining your decision to quit your corporate job and what inspired you to start this channel?
I absolutely could and wouldn’t mind sharing more of personal story and how I came to the decision if you and others feel it would be something of interest?
@@fomoyolotravel Absolutely! It’d also be great if you gave us some insight on how you got started with trading.
Australia is actually the only country that has its coat of arms on its menu! haha . Not just the Kangaroo as u stated but the emu. Both animals do not walk backwards , which is symbolic of Australia moving forward. The other thing with the pylon on the Sydney Harbor bridge is u pay a small fee of around $ 30 to walk up the 200 steps. What u were referencing was the bridge climb which takes u to the very top of the bridge, but u wear a harness and u climb with a group. Appreciate you sharing your videos and have a safe and happy journey. One last thing to mention is Ballarat in Victoria , u have the oldest continuous Chinese community outside of mainland China. Many Chinese arrived there in the 19th century during the height of the Gold rush period.
Thank you for watching my video in its entirety and for sharing the insights and clarifications you did. I was unaware of the Emu dining option and I will say kangaroo tasted like a fine piece of steak when I had it. We really enjoyed our time there. Perhaps Victoria is a place we can check out some day. Thanks again!
Kangaroo is so flavourful when you cook it right.
And Australia will forever march forward. Such a progressive nation. Lucky being the by product of hard work and ingenuity.
Great vid Jeff! Some of the places you went to I haven’t even been to and your content of syd is great from a tourist perspective! Very different take compared to some of the other content creators on this platform!
