    This really was a great interview, I really appreciated the nitty gritty of the WOTR score that you got into! It's great that even though Stephen Gallagher had done so many interviews in a short space that there's a few things repeated, but they also differ so much and cover different things.

      And gah! I knew I'd forget to mention things... I'm really glad you covered those more obscured themes that Stephen had woven into the soundtrack. That sort of thing was a question I'd submitted before the TORn interview that didn't quite get asked in the end.

    Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I’m gonna go ahead and apologize in advance for my... everything. My mumbling, talking too fast, my accent (it’s easy to sound fluent in English when you have a script). Also, due to the 12-hour time difference, there’s gonna be some talking over each other, though I’ve tried to edit as much of it as possible. That said, I'm quite proud of myself for pulling this off, and Stephen was a real blast to chat with. I hope you'll enjoy!

    The juxtaposition of Gollum’s final treachery while Aragorn’s oath is heard… the fact that Frodo had to trust someone fully corrupted by the Ring and could at any point believe that the one who would never give up on hope probably died. That’s the how beautiful this segment is, even with all the darkness that will follow afterwards.

    I just realised we have heard the main phrase Gondor in Decline in Bm earlier in the trilogy: during Boromir's death and funeral. To play it in full here is not only relevant as his brother is seemingly facing the same fate, but the foreshadowing of Boromir's dying words "all will come to darkness, and my city to ruin" is brought to the front and centre by the score. The score is a work of pure genius

    This gives me very contradictory feelings, because while I like his apparently glossaric approach with the themes, it makes this movie even more undeniably canon with the trilogy. That means these costumes (and events and probably retcons we still don't know of yet) are canon too and that's decidedly what I can't wrap my head around. Hera's outfit is the least middle-earthian and unrealistic costume I could have imagined it makes me enjoy Rings of Power. Why couldn't the character design staff try to reproduce the care that went into costumes for the original trilogy too? Anyway, now with each department approaching the tie-in differently now it all feels... a schizophrenic mess.

    • @monoverantus
      @monoverantus 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sadly, I personally think this has been the case ever since the wake of the original trilogy. If WotR turns out to be a badly written cash-grab with great music, then you can throw it on the same pile as The Hobbit and The Rings of Power (and most likely the upcoming Gollum movie too). However, if it actually defies the trend and gives a genuine Tolkienian experience, I can forgive a couple of lore detractions and questionable design choices.

    Happy (belated) Halloween! I was so happy to finally get a real microphone last year, but ever since I got a new phone a few months ago (which has switched the 3,5 connector jack for a USB-C), that mic has only been giving diminshing returns (I did a whole recording of this video which ended up having no usable audio). So these last videos I've regressed to just using the phone's inbuilt mic, and hope to get a NEW new mic soon. Technology: Trick or Treat? 🤔

    I think the Concerning Stoors sounds like a mix between Nori Brandyfoot and the Harfoots. The melody uses the principle instruments from both themes used together and takes a compound meter from Harfoots but the Dorian mode from Nori. After watching Season 2, it does fit quite well that Concerning Stoors is like a child theme of the two
