Never had hamsters myself, always prefered big animals, but this brings me to another issue- these irresponsible pet owners are also SUCH A PREVALENT THING in reptile keeping spaces. I have 10 reptiles, they are thriving.. but so many people out here literally tell me they'd k*ll my snakes if they saw them, describing in gruesome detail how,, or even snake owners themselves feeding live- which is not only distressing to everyone involved, and shouldn't be done unless absolutely necessary (ex. some ball pythons will refuse to eat all together if the prey isn't moving,, luckily not ours, but it does happen) but on top of that, a mouse or rat can bite the snake- they go for the eyes often, AND as mammals carry bacteria that can be very dangerous or just deadly to reptiles. so if they bite, then probably die an agonising death due to the snake... the snake might die anyway after that, cuz the mouse bite will have probably infected them with something they can't handle... ugh

I think Elfen Lied is guilty of this. Like, I understand if you wanna portray the worst of humanity, but it needs to be done TASTEFULLY. So, why do we have to watch an explicit flashback where Mayu's stepfather coerces her into sex, including her reluctantly stripping down??? 😑 Actually, there's a few more anime I can think of that are guilty of this. In Sword Art Online, Asuka is to be married off to her dad's partner's son, Nobuyuki, despite the fact that she's comatose as her mind is still trapped in the game, and she is SEVENTEEN. There's also a lot of uncomfortable scenes between Asuna and Nobuyuki as their in-game counterparts and it feels out of place in a show about teenagers trying to escape a VR game where they and their friends trapped in. 🤨 Also, Made in Abyss is just basically the "writer's barely disguised fetish" in a nutshell. It looked good at first but then I saw a review going over weird scenes involving the child protagonists and I decided to not watch it. 😣

Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel do this too; using sa and implied grape as comedy, while at the same time trying to show a serious portrayal of how those two things affect someone (more Hazbin than Helluva but y'know)

i'm so glad my mom did research before we got our hamster. though i do believe we could have given her a better enclosure, she lived a great 2 years and peacefully passed away of old age. i cannot believe how parents just get a pet and don't take care of it.

I really don’t want to watch the video bcs of the subject matter but it’s important to talk about, so a like and comment for the algorithm so the video hopefully reaches people who can stomach the watch. Also every single hamster that has been in my household has died of old age. Granted some of these were my mum’s but they’ve also been mine, and from when I was a child too. I get that accidents can happen to even the most experienced pet owners but hamsters are not that hard to keep from dying horribly.

Experienced hamster owner here. Yes, hamsters have the ability to enter hibernation, but they should not be doing this in captivity. The type of “hibernation” they can perform is called torpor. If your hamster enters this state, it can actually be quite dangerous, as there is a very high chance it won’t wake up. What I would recommend if your hamster has entered torpor is to bring up the temperature, take your hamster out and gently cuddle it until it wakes up (have it in contact with your skin to provide it ample warmth). Torpor can last for only a few hours up to a week or so. If you haven’t seen/heard your hammy in awhile during the colder months, please do them a favor and check on em.

0:51 there’s also parents who don’t do research about whatever pet they get for their kid & yet also gaslight the kid into thinking they have the lifespan of a fucking insect when they die of liver failure or some shit. Which doesn’t work if they’re not a kid but a teenager that can look the info up.

*Might add a trigger warning* I have two OCs who are apparently victims of these but i worry for how i'm going to write them coming from someone who has been groomed and sexually harassed online as a minor. *(I'm in my 20s now)* The thing is, it's the first time writing it and even if i may be a victim, i'm *not* a good writer, i fear i may end up accidentally using them for shock value when that isn't the case. The first is a female character who has been 🍇 *(TH-cam won't allow me to say the word due to it being a sensitive topic..)* at 14 by three guys all because she rejected one guy due to age differences *(he was 17),* it affected her so badly that she couldn't let anyone touch her, let alone her own family because of how much it traumatized her to the point of not being able to sleep and getting sudden panic attacks that her parents had to spend money to treat both her mental _and_ physical health, it had to take years for her to be able to recover but the trauma is still there, even if she 'looks fine'. Another being a male character who has been groomed and s/a by his own high school teacher at 16 years old and he struggled trying to escape from her out of fear of what would happen that he waited until he graduates so he can escape from her grasp *(as he got scared she will purposefully make him fail the exams if he did try ditch her),* it affected him as well that he hated having someone only seeing him for his good looks and not for who he is, even as well feeling uneasy about physical touch, he even would get a panic attack and a mental breakdown because of how he has been treated by his former teacher who only saw him as nothing but an object for her own disgusting desires.

I personally think it depends on the context. Sometimes, it can be expressed, but giving every character S.A. trauma is just- nah.

Hamster abuse is so bad online, proper hamster care is one of my main interests and I've had two dwarf hamsters before so seeing those types of videos of people making fun of their hamsters deaths enrages me even more. What I can say is: Hamsters are fragile and need highly specific and at times very expensive care, they are NOT for children. Hamsters aren't toys, they often don't want anything to do with humans, let alone be played with. Thank you for calling out this abuse!

I agree when media mishandle fragile topic that need to be address appropiately with help with professionals and experienced. Topic like SA shouldn't be downplayed as disrespects the victim and affected their preception and traumatic trigger. R*pe and SA is very distructive crime as it broke and traumatise the victim with downward spiral conserquence as the effect results: Low self esteem, depression, ptsd, develope other disorders, anxiety, unsure with everythings, washed up, substance abuse like drugs and alcahol for coping and escapism, isolation, self-h@rm, insanity and more. I saw r*pe and SA artworks in artsite like Deviantart, furaffinity, Pixiv and more especially in NSFW fetishes. There is differance between SA and BDSM: BSDM is consent with someone with share interest and fantasty desire on each others while SA is NOT consent as it been done by force or grooming or bribery. I hate it when people does that, it normalise abuse and this effected people like me especially growing up drove me insane and alone. I had survive and escape emotional domestic abuse done by my family and the aftermath has almost destroyed me.

My biggest regret is getting a rabbit. When I was about 14 (16 currently) My mom agreed to let me get a rabbit because I had always wanted one since I was a little kid, and I was ECSTATIC to finally get one. so I bought a little white rabbit from a sketchy breeder of many animals (puppies, birds of all sorts, rabbits) but i completely failed to do my research, I didn’t even know what rabbits ate, how to care for them, or that they had claws (learned that the hard way) She was the sweetest bunny ever though, she had so much personality and never bit anyone. Her name was Sebastian (my brother named her lol) Anyways, I don’t blame my mom for being irresponsible, as it was a learning experience for us all, but i’ll never forgive myself for this whole situation. Being the laziest child I was, I eventually got an automatic feeder for her that i’d only have to refill every few days (long story short, turned into neglect) and finally when I had enough, I was tired of everyone pressuring me to take care of this animal that I didn’t even want anymore, and I desperately tried to get rid of her. Luckily my mom had a family friend who was willing to take her to use her for breeding (I disgust myself just thinking about that, and i’ll never forgive myself) but desperate to be free of the responsibility, I agreed without second thought. I only got to visit her once before my mom got a call that she passed. Always, ALWAYS do your research before carelessly getting an animal. so much pain will happen if you don’t </3

This whole cellphone ban was the dumbest thing they could possibly think of doing. it’s absolutely a control tactic. one of their “reasons” they explained (the principal himself explained) is that if something happens, like a shooting, then we can’t contact our parents as that could “escalate the situation.” I still brought and carried my phone with me, but I had never felt so uncomfortable at school. I don’t feel safe there at all, I know and they know that they can control us, and punish us for not obeying (or like being punished for not handing over your phone, which is YOUR personal property and not theirs to put their hands on) I have expressed to counselors that I feel uncomfortable not being able to contact my mom when I need to, and they did absolutely NOTHING about it, they said that i’d need special paperwork or a diagnosis of autism. I left that school after a few weeks, I am now doing online school

as someone who has unfortunately experienced these things, I do not see how anyone could s3xualize r4pe or SA, it’s not “attractive” or “sexy” it’s sick, and just thinking about it makes me feel sick. I don’t get offended like at all, so i’m not complaining about this or being a snowflake about it. I feel like some sexual things can be taken lightly/comedy uses, but this.. just no. 🤮 if these people actually went through these things they’d know that it’s not hot, it’s terrifying. Thank god someone sees it like I do. Unfortunately any average human is going to react to this by “i’m superior to that little animal because i’m bigger and I live longer and I speak english, i’ll take its life if I want”(unfortunately I hear that a lot) My sister once told me about her son having a hamster (he was like two I believe, either way, too young) and the hamster bit him, and she put the poor thing in his ball and filled it with water, purposely drowning him. My mom has not liked her since (she’s my sister on my dad’s side so we don’t even talk) but I can not look at her the same way. just because something is small doesn’t mean that you just have the power to hurt it just because you can. Hell, spiders. I have zero respect for anyone who kills spiders or any other insect or just anything living in general.

When I tell that my 2 hamsters I died of old age ( The first 3 year old and the second 2 ), I am always called a liar. Why ? Because obviously nobody had an hamster dying of old age. So two , it is just an impossible flex. And then I heard a lot of stories about how their hamsters died because hamster are so ''stupide''. It is just making me angry each time I heard them. Now I have my third hamster andI will assure you that little Mondo will have the same death as the other two. A peacefull one after a life full of enrichissement in his big cage and his secure hamster park. Because I know how to take care of an animal.

The title brought back some really annoying memories! Four years me and my mom have been telling my grandpa that we don’t wanna fish because he keeps asking my mom if he can buy me one. For some reason, he’s obsessed with buying things nobody wants. I never cared for fish as pets and he knows that! He only bought the fish too so we had to buy the tank and toys for a pet we didn’t even want because I wasn’t going to have him send the fish back to the store and have it live in a tiny cup for the rest of its miserable life! Which leads me to the other reason why I didn’t want him to get a fish. He’s supporting these places who are treating these fish and animals horribly! I get really mad when I think about this because I didn’t tell him off when I should have. I should’ve told him I didn’t want the fish. I should’ve told him that he should’ve listened to my mom when she said that I didn’t want one but at the same time I didn’t because he never listens anyway and there was no point in fighting about the fish if I wasn’t gonna have him return it, least that’s how I saw it but I’m still mad. I didn’t say anything. I don’t know why he cares about these little fish so much anyways! He’s not even a fish fanatic I mean, he used to go fishing and his friend bring some fish every week I think but he’s not the pet fish fanatic when he buys the fish. He doesn’t even pay attention to them afterwards! He bought his son a fish too and after they got the fish settled in their tank, he didn’t pay not a single iota of attention to it! So why does he care so much for buying these fish that nobody wanted! The worst part is he got my other little cousin a fish too and my little cousin can’t take care of anything let alone a living fish! Plus his mom is broke all the time she’s not gonna have money to get a fish tank for the fish so the thing is probably dead or still in its tiny little cup!

i remember my best friend explaining why he disliked dandadan. i hadn't heard much about it, but everyone was absolutely enthralled with it when it came out so i was shocked when he said he disliked it, until he mentioned the plot and how 90% of it revolves around s/a towards a teenager. i wouldn't be opposed to something like that if it was done tastefully and respectfully, but from what i've seen it really isn't.

I relate to this so much. The moment rxpe becomes a topic in show/movie I stop watching and ignore it completely. This happened specifically with Helluva Boss. I really liked Helluva Boss, especially characters like Moxie, but- then the show decided the rxpist Stolas will be the main character and dumped all the previous characters- I literally cannot watch it now, because I can't stand how Stolas is so rxpey, and the show plays it up like "Oh pity, Stolas. Poor Stolas just doesn't know how to act appropriately." I'm here like bruh- he's a grown man with a CHILD. Ain't no 'pity' I got for him and it doesn't look cute either. No amount of glitters/sparkles will make me like him.

Exactly. I'm a victim of grooming, and I hate how abuse is glorified. It's a gigantic problem among fanfic writers. Whenever SA is portrayed, it's usually one of these three- 1. Only shock value. 2. An awful attempt at dark humor. 3. Writer's barely disguised fetish.

I didn’t find that the dandadan scene was used for comedy BUT I still have my gripes with it because I do not want to see this 15 year old girl half dressed for half the episode when that’s clearly targeted for creeps. It went on WAYYY too long and was generally unnecessary.

When me and my brother were little mom surprised us with a hamster cage for a holiday, so we went to a pet store to get some. Since me and my brother wanted to both have our own, we asked one of the people who worked there if they would fight. The person who worked there said since they were siblings they would be able to live together with no issues, (they were both male btw) so we got both and after we ut them in the cage they started fighting. We heard squeaking sometimes from them hurting each other and after looking it up it said that we should get them separate things so that they wouldn't fight over territory or anything. We got a second food bowl, water spout, and cage, but kept them connecting since they were siblings and the person who worked at the store said they would be ok together. Big mistake. They kept fighting so we separated the cages, but it was too late and after burrowing under the cage filling stuff one of them never came out. Me and my brother got worried and dug around to check on him but he was dead. We were heartbroken. It bothers my so much that he died because we believed that the person working at the pet store knew what they were talking about. They shouldn't have told us anything if they weren't sure and it break my heart how easily it could have been avoided if we were wiser. We still raised the other hamster and he lived a long life (a little over 2 years i think) before dying in his sleep. He was the sweetest hamster in the world and i feel so bad every time i see a hamster with either a bad owner, or a child owner whose parents thought it was a good idea to give their children that much responsibility. Personally i do believe that hamsters are a good starting pet, since they aren't as high maintenance as dogs or cats and live shorter lives so they aren't an enormous commitment, but you should make sure your able to make its life good, and me responsible. Please stop giving children hamsters, unless they do a lot of research and are actually able to take good care of them. I don't blame the children but it bothers me so much that hamsters have to suffer because parents think that their child can handle the responsibility for keeping something alive and well. They wouldn't feel the same way about their kids pet being treated like that if it wasn't a rodent. I love rodents and feel so, so bad for them. Rodents and other small pets like fish are only treated like that because their considered "lesser pets" and that disgusts me because if somebody told you a story about a hamster being abused you wouldn't care, but once it's a more popular pet your a saint all of a sudden? It's horrible how less popular pets are treated. It's like their lives don't matter to you. Its sick and no one should be able to do it without repercussions.

Glad my mom was responsible enough to take the dog I showed I couldn’t understand the responsibility of and would actually step in and do anything I couldn’t do. The dog already had a ton of health issues I didn’t understand because the shelf we got them from got the dog from a puppy mill ( poor thing didn’t know what grass was when we first got her) so my mom stepping in for the stuff I didn’t understand. That dog lived until my sophomore year of high school when she started having serious and we had to put her down due to her age . Unfortunately I’ve also been in the “surprise pet that kid didn’t ask for and was scared of” position with a hermit crab. I was too scared to feed the thing and being a kindergartener in the early 2010’s and not having the best reading comprehension, I ended up screaming whenever the crab was lifted up out of its tiny in-closer because I was so scared of being pinched because I’d only seen crabs on cartoons being super mean and pinching others. I have no idea what happened to the crab though, I was only in kindergarten, but I doubt it was released somewhere because we lived no where near a beach so it’d be stupid to do that.

A lot of anime is made to appeal to incel weebs with the intention of selling them a messed up fantasy, and a lot of west's portrayals of rape are either written by said incels or people that don't know impact of it. Yes you are a snowflake, but not because you don't like rape it's because you don't provide anything i would call meaningful with it. There is a lot of bad writers, and bad writers use scenarios badly, no matter what the scenario is (murder, mental disorders, inequality, you name it.) how do we fix this? Either we don't because there's always a bad writers and low consumers, or we educate people on the matter and support the well made representation and not a shit made for quick buck and rage bait.
