once i stopped drawing for like a year and my art style is completely different, it's less anime and more cartoony, I take inspiration on different artist styles, I think my new style is nicer than my old one.
i dont think ive ever been bullied over my art style changing, but my art has changed from more detailed furry art to more cartoon art, similar to hanna barbera cartoons and early 2000's media (or at least that's what my work has been compared to) i like my new art, but i still worry that my more cartoonish style means that im getting worse at art. i know logically that isn't true, because simplifying my anatomy has allowed me to focus more on better poses and more expressiveness, but the perception that realistic or painterly art is the only art that ''matters'' at least on social media where that's really some of the only art that gains traction has really done a number on my self esteem about my work
I don’t own TikTok or even interact with these kind of situations online but the fact that people like this just exist makes me very disappointed. Btw about the fundraiser, I’ll ask my parents and friends to donate! Love your drawings and content! :3
this is why i refuse to touch anything like TikTok or Instagram with a 50 ft pole. the people on there tend to be the worst kinds of people ever and i do NOT want anything to do with it. the sheer amount of elitism and bullying on there when it comes to, not only art, but literally anything someone posts on there is actually disgusting and i hate it.
"ur art sucks" ok fam, now make a drawing. like girlie pop let me draw smh BUT I LOVE UR ARTSTYLE! its like total drama island or invader zim, it makes my brain calm down, and i have REALLY BAD adhd, so thats sayin smth! i hope your art journey gets better and better this year :3
I recently started to slowly switch art styles and surprisingly the reception was really good and it made me so happy sadly I feel so bad for people that get bullied for this Edit:I have Instagram but it is a private account so I background check everyone to avoid stuff like this
Personally, i think that ever since tiktok became a thing, the comminity has gottrn way too comfortable with bullying younger artists ; you either get 'wow im sorry i picked up a pencil' to 'this sucks ass'. Not to mention... Some of yall put these really boring basic art styles on a pedestal while people with more unique artstylrs get trashed like no tomorrow ಥ_ಥ
I'm not allowed on certain FB groups because they don't accept Feral Realism art because of unnecessary drama Like bruh, how does an art style mean you draw zoophilia stuff It was just a dinosaur chicken eating a rock, why does that warrant me not being able to be in a art commissions group
Yikes, that sucks, expecially with people throwing around serious terms over other people's art (and also feels like the tiktok artstyle labeling problems) :(, also the fact you mentioned a dinosaur got me curious, what species were you drawing? :eyes:
@thylascene i don't know if it existed or not I just took inspiration from existing birds and prehistoric birds and ended up looking like a velociraptor mixed with chicken
On the part at 2:40, the reason why people say things like that is simple: there is an obvious repeated trend of many artists in this community being outed for either preying on children or being horrible people. You really cannot fault poeple for this when it is quite literally every other month that a popular content creator is exposed for their wrongdoings, most of which are beyond simple "petty" drama and straight up hate speech/illegal. I felt like it was obvious why people said that?
sorry but as someone who has a bit of a following online and gets these comments frequently, it's deeply inappropriate, hostile, and really puts me off posting art. The fact that some online creators (out of thousands, even millions) have ended up being bad people (something that's a "repeated trend" in basically every large community, whether it be a career, a hobby, a religious community, etc) doesn't mean it's cool to confront and grill random people on if they're a pedophile apropos of nothing
@@Pterosauria agreed with all 3 of you - while its a repeat of 'oh... That guys a creep', i feel like rubbing it in will only make it worse. The acceptable way of doing this is 'wow amazing hard i hope you dont get crushed by an anvil'
That's still implying that someone's a despicable person just because someone who happens to be in the same community has done bad things. If someone in your neighborhood, say, offed their spouse, would you expect people to tell you, "You're cool, I hope you're not planning to end someone's existence"?
Hey I’ve seen how well you cover topics like this, but I have a question. Can you also address the issue with “if minors should do commissions or not”? One of my friends recently got into an argument about that and I feel the whole situation is silly but should be addressed since it’s kinda important aswell.
I feel like that's definetely something I could touch on! Me personally I feel like if you're under the age of 16, doing commisions can be risky and dangerous, especially with a lot of minors not telling their parents or a guaridan theyre doing commisions, but I can see the argument for both ends. That would be a good topic to discuss and talk about relating to the different sides for sure!
@ I was thinking the same thing. Doing coms is like a job. Some ppl who are 16 can get some jobs and depending on how well you do will depend on how you end up, same with coms. Age doesn’t always equal maturity and me personally I feel if you are responsible enough, have a parent or guardian to help you (if you can, Ik some ppl aren’t that fortunate and it’s upsetting) and you actually get stuff done and do it well you should be fine.
1:144:19 Cute drawings but I think you overdid it with the details. And you don't need so much highlights on their horns and etc. Makes the drawing harder to read.
Well I haven't watched anyone elses videos on the matter so I'd have to assume because it's a rampant problem many people are speaking out on the problem in a similar fashion

I have Instagram and it is a private account and I background checked everyone that wanted to follow me and it gave me real peace of mind.
Deleting TikTok back in 2022 was a great decision.
omg i hate the tik tok art community so much the toxicity to beginner artists especially is insane
As a young artist, this is really encouraging to me.
Never stop the hustle!! We all started somewhere and that's no lie!
can’t agree more

Your opposum character is super cool and the creature you made is super cool! Awesome artstyle!!
Ty!!
Unrelated but the bugs youre drawing in the video are absolutely ADORABLE
This is unrelated but I’m digging the funky lil guys you’re drawing :3
2:53 I had this happen on one of my videos, it was pretty stressful! I don't understand why people would joke about that.

But that's not a good thing to do regardless, i understand why, but its not appropriate still

Never try to get popular on tiktok if you aren’t already popular
