Hell pie was really easy, everything dies in 1 hit and the chain swing is broken letting you skip most the platforming in the game

Great game - not a hidden gem though. It's very popular and has received a ton of praise over the years from both press and players. A hidden gem from the same publisher would be something like Here Comes Niko which is one of my favorites that released after this video was made.

It was one of my favorites of the year and I hope they make either a sequel, spin-off, or something with a similar vibe. As I get older I keep gravitating for more casual "decompress-at-the-end-of-the-day" games like this. I'll still play something with precision or combat here and there but mostly I just want gaming to be all-out relaxing for me. Games like this, Mail Time, Smushi Come Home, Haven Park, and Here Comes Niko have been great for that.

@YourFriendJacob thanks man. My son is going to love it, we bought Lil Gator - Haven Park and A short hike today. He likes Kirbys dreamland but stays in the little shop area where nothing can attack you, I play this game called Dauntless sometimes and he'll stay in the home area where you upgrade your weapons and explore that or the trainings area lol. These will be so much better.

@@NorthLVLowRoller Oh A Short Hike is a wonderful pickup! We're starting to see more games inspired by that one and for good reason, it's an amazing game. Stuff like Goodlands comes to mind which I'm really looking forward to. These games kind of inspired me to pick up gamedev myself. I want to make more casual 3D platformers since that's what my partner and her nieces and nephew like to play. I'm a ways away from that though. Still working on getting the hang of 2D and working up from zero programming experience at the moment haha.

why did u take so long?

It's one of my favorite metroidvanias for exactly that reason. I felt the exact same way about the balance of de-stressing and bits of challenge here and there. I'm a Kyle Thompson fan for life and his next game, Crypt Custodian looks really good!

That's awesome news! Guess I need to jump back in to Geometry Dash now haha.

I plan on revamping this list with Glyph in it. At the time of writing the script I hadn't finished the game yet but you're absolutely right, it definitely deserves the hidden gem nod.

And to any gamers out there who pity me for sucking at one specific genre of videogames, save your pity for the weak. Because I pity you more for wasting your lives away on trivial BS like roguelikes/roguelites.

Imagine acting so defensive before anyone has even replied to your comment, being egotistical enough to think people would, and here we are a month later and I'm the only one who has just to point out your mental problems. Seek help brother. Also get good; you must be on another level of bad to auto prepare defenses to getting flamed 😂

Yea I'm still hopeful they will eventually although initial patches haven't addressed much outside cutscenes which is at least some progress. Ultimately If I were to speculate, this felt like a publisher wanting this out and a new devteam trying their hardest to meet that deadline. I've seen it quite a few times and I just wish more time would be allowed to these games rather than relying on patches to really make things playable. You're not going to catch every bug and patches are fine in that sense, but my experience was not an isolated one and in fact, the devs/publisher knew about the bugs, they sent me a doc confirming this. Rather than hope those will be squashed by launch and potentially miss that deadline, why not just take the time necessary to ensure they are before launching? It certainly has made it hard for me as a reviewer and that's why I don't plan on doing reviews like this anymore. I will still support many games on launch though as a fan and you already know I'm buying your next game on day one!

@@YourFriendJacob Yeah, having to force out a game when it's not ready is heartbreaking for any dev. And even if they do release patches to fix all the issues, the damage is usually already done...I doubt many people are gonna keep checking back for months to see if the game is finally in a better state. Really feels smarter to just release a game when it's ready, or at least when it doesn't have any *breaking* issues... (also thank you!)

Yea lots of potential is how I'd describe it as well. As long as the issues get fixed, it'll be a fun one to check out. Here's to hoping that happens!
