Thanks again for having me on Jacob! I enjoy talking to y’all so much whenever we record together! You and Denise are incredible creators and people! I’m extremely lucky! 😊
Really cool talk of you, guys! I can only speak for the mobile game section, and I‘m happy that Mint shed some light on SOULVARS, it‘s a brilliant game. And yes, my personal mobile game of the year might as well be Vampire Survivors. I haven‘t really slept the last couple of days because of this gem from hell. Looking forward to the next podcast! Cheers, Merry Christmas and all the best for 2023!
Thanks for checking out the show! The moment Soulvars is out on Steam Deck I'm all over it! I think my mobile game of the year might be Vampire Survivors too but there were a lot of really good new mobile games this year. I might have to talk about some of those on Mint's podcast some time!
It's much deserved! I had a blast playing Go! Go! PogoGirl and I'm super happy to be able to give it an award. You truly are a talented developer and I look forward to checking out what you're working on next (which looks awesome btw)!
wow!!! we're sooo super glad you enjoyed Kraken Academy so much! we finally have to send out that merch haha lots of love from the happy broccoli team 💚
Bit late to the party Jacob but was another great podcast dude!. Love everyone's choices here and so many here that I need to check out. I'm however still not quite sure how I feel about Vampire Surviors if I'm being honest! I've put in around 2 hours play and while it's a fun game I've yet to feel that compulsive urge to keep playing like so many people have.. But maybe I'm just getting old lol Anyway im looking forward to finding out what the best indie game of the year Is? 😆
I'd say Vampire Survivors isn't necessarily everyone's jam but if it helps, it took me a bit to get into it as well. As you play around with characters and powerups, it begins to be more fun and what has been fun for me is some of the variety offered in the unlocked stages. It could also be that at times Vampire Survivors isn't that "active" of a gaming experience. If you're looking for something a bit more active but still having some of that autobattling DNA, Boneraiser Minions is a solid choice with having dash and active spell mechanics, Gunlocked has a bit more of an on-rails vibe with it being inspired by vertical-scrolling shoot-em-up games, and games like Soulstone Survivors and Brotato approach the genre a bit differently in terms of speed and presentation. There's certainly nothing wrong with not clicking with games that are generally highly praised. With how many games I've played this year, it has happened to me a couple times for sure.
@@YourFriendJacob Yeah I've seen some of those games featured on other channels. Like Wanderbots and Retromation. They all look pretty good games though and will keep an eye on those when they leave EA.
@@MintCity I have about 5 hours into it. Completely different feel from Hollow Knight (way more retro). Having a lot of fun so far although, some of the platforming deaths can be rather aggravating lol (not in an unfair way though). The feeling of progression is very nice!
Make sure to check out my special guests!

Best game since Hollow Knight? Purchased!
I edited out my reaction to that which was an excited "whaaaaat" face and yea if it has the Mint seal of approval I need to check it out too!
I can’t wait for you to play it! Please let me know what you think! 👏

I almost got it for Switch when it came out then forgot about it lol
I've spent a lot on games recently but will add to wishlist for next year.😁
The more I play it, the better it gets. A very well-made game!
The girl sounds like Mable from Gravity falls SO MUCH
