I'm hearing rumblings of Crowsworn being a 2024 release but now that I said that it'll be 2023 haha and if it is, I'd be thrilled! That game is going to be so good!
Jacob!!! as a longtime backlog pirate, i eat up videos like this one on a regular basis, but rarely have i watched one where every single game grabbed me in some way. either we have very similar taste in games, or you are doing a fantastic job of curating and highlighting these titles. maybe both :) cheers, bud!
Hey thanks I appreciate the kind words! I'm glad these games spoke to you in the same way that they spoke to me and speaking of backlogs, I might have some backlog related content coming soon-ish!
Amazing choices! I hope Hades II actually releases this year in early access and I forgot about Dave the Diver's 1.0 release being this year! Gestalt is another one that I hope finally releases this year as well since it has been in development for so long now. If/when I do a part two Viewfinder will definitely be on the list - that game looks so good!
It's nice to see you back Jacob! I really love this list, so much it's probably easier to say what I won't play 😂. Btw my most anticipated are Sea of stars and Chef RPG. But i cant wait to play gumbrella and Koa also! I did not know only The plucky squire but it looks so good, it has a JPCoovert drawing vibes
Big fan of what was shown off here, and I’m also looking forward to streets of rogue 2! The first one was easily one of my favorite roguelikes, and I’m super excited to see that game get expanded upon. Definitely recommend for anyone who likes sandbox games!
Totally agree on Streets of Rogue 2! I'm just waiting for some footage or trailers to pop up before featuring it in a video. Hopefully with this summer's slate of showcases we'll see that happen.
Tinykin is so good! Yea for me I grew up on 3D platformers so it's so nice to see so many indie games in the genre popping up in the past few years! Both Koa and The Plucky Squire should be great and for some additional recommendations, Boti: Byteland Overclocked looks like it's shaping up to be one to look forward to along with games that have some elements of 3D platforming in them like Smushi Come Home and Europa.
To be honest, most of my anticipated games you have on your list, but I am also really excited for The Siege and the Sandfox, A Sister’s Journey, Nine Sols and also COCOON which is a really cool looking puzzle adventure game
Really cool list man!. The Plucky Squire and Gunbrella seems amazing. Especially the art style of Plucky, too beatiful!. My most anticipated indie of the year, is of course, Hollow Knight: Silksong. Two and a half years waiting xD, but Team Cherry knows exactly what it is doing, and it will surely be an ambitious title. I think it's great that they take the time they need! Another metroidvania that seems excellent is The Last Faith, a kind of 2D Bloodborne with a gloomy and wonderful pixel art setting!. And I share what you said about Sea of Stars, another one that you can tell is going to make people talk. Greetings and good life!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed this video! Completely agree on Team Cherry and being happy that they are taking their time. It's something I wish more indie developers would do although sometimes with being on such small budgets they can't sadly. The Last Faith is definitely a great choice and with so many games set for the rest of 2023, I could easily do a part 2, 3, or 4! My wishlist is never-ending haha.
I want to see more of The Plucky Squire but at the same time I might avoid any new trailers since I'm already sold at this point! I just can't wait to play it and see how everything works together with the shifting perspectives!
In addition to those here are 10 more I'm looking forward to this year: Nine Sols The Siege and the Sandfox Pepper Grinder A Sister's Journey Nocturnal Selfloss Europa Gravity Circuit Mika and The Witch's Mountain Mercury Abbey
Yea I've got pretty high hopes for it! The demo was really good and the overall vibe and direction really caught my attention. It's cool to see the progression from Gato Roboto to Gunbrella too. Overall, Devolver has a nice lineup of games slated for this year and we might get Wizard with a Gun and Sludge Life 2 as well which also look pretty great!
I believe combat is optional like most farming sims and for me I'm keeping an open mind to it because they're trying to do something different. For far too long the genre has been stagnant when it comes to combat and it has been kind of samey in that area. With this we're at least getting something different which I appreciate. It's not the kind of combat I normally gravitate to but it scores points for me for doing something different within the genre.

Silksong and Crowsworn are my most anticipated games this year and I'm ready to sacrifice my time on these games.

Tinykin and Astro's Playroom have reignited my love for 3D platformers, so I'm really excited for Koa and the 5 Pirates of Mara!

I can't wait for The Plucky Squire! It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun :D

I remember seeing gunbrella at PAX West!
Yea I've got pretty high hopes for it! The demo was really good and the overall vibe and direction really caught my attention. It's cool to see the progression from Gato Roboto to Gunbrella too. TOTALLY looking forward to LUCID... that game looks absolutely amazing. A beautiful blend of Super Metroid, LoZ, Megaman X, Celeste and Hollow Knight.
Wait LUCID is releasing this year?!? Well I'm gonna have to keep that in mind for part 2! Really looking forward to it!
@@YourFriendJacob oh gosh.. ive made a blunder!! Not this year!! so sorry ... just excited for it

Soulvars soul deck builder on Switch
I need to check it out! MintCity has recommended it to me before when it was mobile only and it looks really good!
The combat in farming games is already bad enough, but turn-based jrpg style?! I just lost all interest in Sunnyside.
