They all sound American. Tawny owls in scotland sound scottish.

As a youngster we called the American Kestrel a Sparrow Hawk. Funny, I've often heard the sound of a red tailed hawk. The Red tail's don't often visit our densely oaked yard, so unusual. I finally discovered it was the scrub jays imitating hawk sounds.

Barn owl screeches like banshees

I had to get my ruler out and go back to the beginning for reinforcement of just how small this bird is!---And, living in the rain forest areas, wouldn't one think they'd not NEED to migrate?---Thank-you for another interesting presentation.

The burrowing owl sounds like a coyote. I am glad I came across this video, Cuz last night I heard a barking owl and was trying to find out what kind it was. 😊 They all can mimic so much. And when birds migrate we get to hear treasures. 👍

Waited for that barn owl to come and rattle my bones and it came and did just that. Their calls are scarier than synthesized demon screams

Great horned owl is freaking my dog out right now. Thing is she's 14 years old, heard it all before, and deaf as a stone. I have no idea how she's even hearing this. I went outside and it's at least a km away. But it's cool, call and answer.

I think there's been some chatter about barred owls invading atypical locations. Interesting about hooting patterns. I just now realized I hadn't heard any owl soundings in my area of Central Coast California since last fall. Hmm!

I woke up at 4:40 in the morning to a what sounded like a pack of something communicating in the area for about 5 min. I thought it might be coyotes because we are in the suburbs and they are putting up so much housing that people have been spotting wildlife in their back yards. Turns out it sounded like barred owls. I’ve never heard them before. They were extremely loud.

Why does the barred owl sound like it’s dropping bars?
