    The documentary I watched many years ago addressed the different functions of each bird...those that developed the beak to open the carcass & feed superficially, then back off to allow those birds that cannot attack the flesh but are designed for cavity consumption. Also, there are those birds found in forested regions, how do they find carcasses when no visible means is possible...they have acute smell. The researchers tested this by placing a chicken under leaf litter under the tree canopy...by golly, the vultures found it!---I'd love to see more of the variety of vulture species you research so well!
