I made one of these back in 1978 at 18 for a High school seniors dinner and dance. I made it in a black and white zebraish print, very DVF. I felt so posh in it.

Such a cute dress! I do not have the patience to do a rolled hem without the specific foot. My rolled hemming foot is the best £10 I've ever spent. The first thing I hemmed with it was a five metre circumference gathered tier that would have taken an age to do without the foot. It paid for itself that very day 😅

I’m measuring up for the M8282 and my measurements are lining up with the 14, 16 and 18…all over the place. I’m reliably a dress size 12 and smaller at the top where this dress is fitted. You said you went for the 12 and would do the 10 next time and I think I’m probably a similar size to you. I’m very confused 🤣 any advice?

It's such a beautiful dress. I like the first option with the halter. Just some more ideas, you could probably do a keyhole back if you use some extra fabric from the sleeves. You could also probably save the cuffs of the sleeves and add different fabric for the upper part if you wanted to have sleeves. HobbyBobbins has a great channel about vintage wedding dress restoration. You have to take off any buttons before you soak because they can rust.
