Plenty of Fordsons still doing small work in Finland. Very popular. We got two legends, Fordson Super Major - 64 and Massey Ferguson 135 - 65.
@apuuvah Very good. Look.after them. Thanks for watching 👍
When a machine has an ECU in the seat you know the whole thing has probably got too complicated. Good expensive tractors are going to the wreckers because they are too difficult, costly and complicated to repair. In late 1981 two young Australians farmers and one young English farmer went on a several thousand kilometre car trip across the top of Montana, North Dakota and back up into Canada into Manitoba and back to Saskatchewan. The 55mph speed limit didn’t cause us much trouble because we hardly got below 80mph. That is another story. We happened to go straight past the Big Bud factory in Harvre in Montanan. Unfortunately we were a bit too late in the day to get a factory tour. There was a new one out the front taking pride of place. We also went to the Steiger factory, and up to the Versatile factory in Winnipeg. We got a tour there. Big Roy was out the back amongst the other discarded ‘good’ ideas. At least they didn’t scrap it. Those were the days….. Jeff.
Alan Brilliant again There is a couple of interesting points that was missed There is a you Tube channel TH-cam · Welker Farms 580K+ followers · 3 months ago Big Bud Tractors 360° Farming Part 1 - BIG BUD Tractors - Welker Farms Inc ... Big Bud Tractor Restoration 2 - Time Lapse - Welker Farms Inc. Welker ... I have been following their channel for some years and brilliant for anyone interested In American big iron it’s all there Last year at Farm Progress show At Decatur Illinois 2023 I had the good luck to catch up with the Welker family on the Titan Tyre stand where there and the new Big Bud was on Display I had the honor or luck to have a chat with Ron Harmon ,who I would describe as a real gentleman He spoke about his aspirations and future dreams for Big Bud , and yes you are correct about the component design It’s unique design is its advantage His dedication to the project is phenomenal ,unfortunately like myself he is getting older and the world needs younger people like you with that dedication The Farm Progress Show is back In Decatur Illinois in 2025 as it alternates between Boone, Iowa on even years and Decatur Illinois on uneven years Ie 2025 I hope to be there The BB is a big Tractor but until you feel a 500 Hp Tractor spinning under you pulling a 50 ft bar seeder and all that goes with that air cart etc total weight + 50 tons + the pull on app 100 tines in the ground “anyone remember the Triple K behind the 35” and spinning on dry ground it’s then you realize the requirements for weight and Horsepower, hence the Big Bud Anyway keep up the good work Alan
It would be fantastic if they could start building and selling tractors like that, but im guessing whoever is behind the monopoly of the other big manufacturers like john Deere, will likely stop it from happening. Probably pay some regulation people to say they are not up to date enough to be sold or something.

Great video Alan, I never heard of the big bud. I always thought a 747 was a big plane not a tractor.😁😁..

I used to work at a quarry (I was a Fitter/Welder there) and they had an MMD rock crusher fitted with the 16 cylinder Detroit 2 stroke engine, full chat for 12 yours a day, what a noise!. So I bet that 747 sounds well and drinks some fuel. Great video Alan🙂
@m0ogy I'd say your ears knew all about that at the end of the day. Dave 🤣 Thanks 👍
They had them in the 85 ton Terex dump truck on a mine near Kalgoorlie when i started there in 91 Horrible things oil leaks all the time now they were well worn at that stage I consider the Cummins 1710 V 10 a far better engine The boss was a Galway man a great character Mick Duggan Clare Galway

Good show today Alan. Sounds like the back to basics, over engineered approach could be a winning formula. There was a great turnout of 1200's and 1250's last werkend, its a shame you missed it. But there'll be more to come, i'm sure. Thanks for the shout-out 👍

Had that on a poster years ago! Comparing it to a mf 178

@@AgrimotiveFarmMachinery 178 would hardly pull a bowzer for that behemoth
Back in the 1980ies I was doing most of my tillage work with a Massey 1080, my brother had a Leyland 2100 i remember borrowing it from him th drive a Vicon 14foot power harrow the 1080 would be struggling driving this harrow especially going up hilly fields, the Leyland 2100 would be humming along- no bother at all, the 2100 was 8 hp more than the Massey 1080, I said at the time that it was the best 8 hp that I have ever seen, I would love to have a 2100 syncro, but alas, they are as scarce as hens teeth . I currently use a Leyland 472 syncro a beautiful running engine.
@@DmitryMurphy-p7h Great information there. Thanks for that 👍
I’m still working my 154 mini here in Texas. I think it is about a 79 or 80 model. Not a lot of Leyland tractors here in the US so parts are a little difficult to acquire but the 154 rarely breakdown. Yes it’s diesel and going strong.

Was shocked to find out that deutz no longer supplies exhaust for early agrotrons but has they cost a fortune probably most people would get one custom made
Yeah, that's true. Most will go with a nice custom one now. Stainless steel ones are very popular
Great stuff Alan, very interesting, have a real soft spot for them, Brother in law ran them in the late 80's into the 90's, great tractors, Thank You👍🙏

Hi Alan, I had listened to you in the past via you tube whilst driving the car to and from work (screen down), so equivalent to podcast. Now that I don't travel so much, get to watch. @darrenstone1320 That's good to know. Thanks, Darren. I appreciate that. 👍
Excellent Alan, few Deutz up our way, more of the modern stuff than the older gear. We have an old fhar mower and it’s still going. 👍
@FlyingFergyMan Thanks Cathal.. I'm always fascinated by the history of these German companies through the war and the role they played in the Nazi war machine
Another great video thanks. I remember driving a DX90 on a neighbouring farm when I was young
@philgardener7018 Thanks Phil... I drove the DX 90 myself as a young lad. Super tractors 👍
In the early 1970s my father had a Bautz combine. There was only a few of them in Ireland. German built, Bautz was bought out by Claas in the late 1960s. The Bautz model we had (a Commodore) had an air-cooled 4-cylinder 4-stroke diesel engine. We assumed it was a Deutz engine, it looked just like one and had the same Bosch ancillaries. But it was actually a Guldner engine. Guldner was the inventor of the 2-stroke diesel engine. Guldner made tractors in Germany from 1935 to 1968.
@dellhell8842 Great information there.. some of those Bautz combines had an MWM engine and some Perkins, but I believe the most popular was the Güldner as yours was. Thanks for watching 👍
@AgrimotiveFarmMachinery Our's was the mid-range model so to speak with an 8.5 or 10 foot header. A toy by today's standards. The smallest model had an MWM engine and the later larger Titan models had the Perkins 4.236 or the ubiquitous 6.354 engine. I was curious how Bautz got to Ireland. I've never seen evidence of one in the UK. There's just a few vintage versions on TH-cam, all in continental Europe, mainly the Benelux countries.
@@dellhell8842 I must do some further research. Thanks 👍
@AgrimotiveFarmMachinery There seems to be very little information about Bautz in general. The combine we had was built in 1968, but it had an early 1970s Roscommon registration number. So it seemed like it was imported secondhand into Ireland. The other Bautz combines I knew of were in counties Galway and Mayo. Did someone in the west of Ireland import some secondhand units back then, or maybe bought from a fire sale of unsold new stock as Bautz was folding into Claas at the end of the 1960s? Some of the Bautz Titan combines were sold in Claas green colours in Germany. The manual we had was in German. Not a word of English in it. No Google translate. So we just studied the diagrams to try to work things out.
@AgrimotiveFarmMachinery For reference the one we had was identical to this one: th-cam.com/video/ydFtLIBaWps/w-d-xo.htmlsi=r6PVI8JwPaS-RTs2
in the olds days each countries got their own machineries.....now 2 or 3 big compagnies taken all ! it ls like the communiste country.....all the same... no good
Yes, it's a shame things have gone like that. The big companies now.have the monopoly on price etc
Definitely learning early part of history of DF, i know farmer who owns DX 4.5 its nice tractor to operate but ĥad more time with new DF testing 5105G when dad was looking for tractor. Wouldn't mind 8 series Warrior. Podcast i listen to is Barn Talk n Shawn Ryan sometimes defence channels.

I've been pestering you for this for ages anyhow I don't pod cast to answer that question. My interest in these tractors is my father was a dealer here in Australia in the early to mid 80s I remember the intrac we had one for a bit think it had a lot of potential but yeah just never sold in any numbers a very rare machine in Australia. We sold plenty of deutz hay bailers and rakes Plenty of dx series machines come up for sale from time to time. Love those air cooled engines very reliable and easy to maintain.
@@Thepigfromthepot Thanks. I hope you enjoyed it and found it informative 👍

An uncle of mine had a dx110 and a dx90,both 4wd back in the ‘80s. Did loads of work with them and gave great service. They punched well above their weight and had a superb bark. I came across a dx90 2wd barn stored two years ago and I couldn’t believe how small it was!! They were huge back in the eighties but of course times have moved on. Lots of interesting information there thanks. Keep it up
@faFsman Thanks for that. Yes, they were a big tractor in the 80's but a small machine in todays standards.
