@Gearoid35 Thanks, Gearoid. Yes, my dad and uncles all had cool Opels through the 70's and 80's and I always loved them. I bought a lovely Opel kadett Coupe in 2006, restored it and sold it on. I really should have kept it.
HV Mackay were building and selling self propelled headers (combine harvesters to some) from 1927. It was a self propelled version of their very successful horse drawn machine. It had a Fordson motor on it right beside the driver so it would have been a hot thing to drive on a 40 degree day in the Australian summer. There was a strong connection between HV Mackay (Sunshine) and Massey Harris. Massey Fergusson ultimately taking the Sunshine company over in the 60s I suppose. I have seen a Sunshine self propelled header in the museum in North Battleford in Saskatchewan in Canada with Massey Harris written all over it. It was definitely a Sunshine built in Canada. It would have predated the Massey Harris machine you speak of. No doubt the MH machine has had a lot of tidying up in the design studio as compared to the Sunshine machine which was rather primitive in comparison, but it worked and worked well. There were plenty of them around. Jeff.
When I was younger, in co Antrim everyone either had a Matbro , or a Krammer handler , Fraser , or Marshall trailer , J.f or Mengele harvester , most had a Thompson dump trailer and most diggers were a haymac , how times have changed,
