As an "elderly" owner, the comfort of the ID4 Pro S seats, the seating height & ease of getting in & out of the car are all really great. And the tight turning circle makes it park like a gocart. The driving range is totally adequate for my purposes & I like the solid feel of it. I bought mine used, with less than 25k on the odometer for less than $20k, after the $4k direct-from-dealer IRS rebate.
You are right.
So lemme get this straight. You guys are swimming on the edge of a 6000 ft drop?
Yes…..with a shark.
Ah yes, a thirty foot long dinosaur is small enough to walk into a house without waking someone up
You do realize there is a ID4 ID5 ID6 ID7
Not all available in U.S.
$6,000-$9000 represents what exactly? Also what size is the massive jet black upper anterior in the center of top shelf. Id say thats the largest in this collection and id guess it’s about 6.3-6.5?
Are you serious? You can’t make a video in your own driveway?
The Tesla is more convenient I’ll have a Tesla any day.I did own a id4 and when I found out about the tires I traded it in after 4 months. The id4 is very comfortable on trips but if you have a blowout 😢.its going to be a long day.
Wow that was so cool seeing you going through the shipwreck 😮!!

Scuba Diving by far but when I am out of time before I can go down again I will do some snorkeling

Under no circumstance do I condone this behavior! LOL I used to scuba but i remember being down and looking up at the boat on the surface and having a near panic attack about all the things that could go wrong between me and up there. That and I'd have nosebleeds and get seasick every time I came back up. LOL BUT...there is no way on earth I'm swimming along the edge of somewhere where the bottom is a mere 6k nonstop trip down below me. NOPE. NOPE. NOPE.
I didn’t even know you could take the covers off 🤦🏻♂️ The wheels look waaaay better without the covers
I test drove the id4 Pro S. I like the way it drove but it only gets 209 miles and the interior looked boring to me. The outside looked good. I ended up not buying it cuz I couldn't justify paying $46k for a car that only gets 209 miles

The problem with Tesla charging is when you get stuck in traffic. Gas cars don't burn much fuel at idle in traffic and still provide heat or AC. A Tesla's efficiency is best when moving, not sitting in traffic. Many years ago, I could not always afford to fill up my VW Rabbit fuel tank. Range anxiety is real.
They have now updated the ID4. It has a better motor and better tech. I wonder what the view would be today?
(my video...different channel) I do too. I really liked a lot of things about the ID4. If I could merge the tech, size, and charging of Tesla with the interior seats/features and body of the ID4, that would be an outstanding vehicle.
Agreed. Just forked over $350 for a feature that should be standard on a semi-luxury car. My Honda Odyssey had this as standard 😂
Yeah. My 2005 Toyota had it standard as well.
I am constantly hearing that Tesla has quality control problems from many of you guys on TH-cam. Fit and Finish is lacking in many new vehicles. I watched a TH-cam by a guy called 'Care Car Nut" who did a review on Tesla Model Y and came up with a great idea: Tesla should license its EV tech to real car companies who know how to build a vehicle . He praised the EV stuff but ripped Tesla on fit and finish and interior and paint quality. This is a great comparison, thanks.
Another level when he says listen carefully guys😂

Let’s take a 8 hr drive and see who gets there first … its that easy lol
I'll take EV charging at home over winning on trip time any day. It's liberating to never have to worry about making a trip to a gas station in the rain/cold/heat, and price of gas.
@@NCX23082 you can say the same thing about a long drive i dont want to wait at a charging station for a couple hours i can just gas and go ? They both have pros and cons but on long drive come on theres no comparing.
@@chrisrendon461 that's just my preference, you do you No tech is perfect, it's always a set of compromise
Yeah, no, gas is less time.
Per "fill up" yes..... Per "my time" absolutely not.
7:41 Road trips with options within walking distance of the charger. After sitting for a few hours, It’s better to walk a little and move the body. Eat at some good places I would not have noticed before. Way better than a gas station that horrible choices for food. And hope you don’t have to sit on the toilet at the gas station.
You ever been to a bukees😂
Buc-ees are starting to have Superchargers.
Interestingly, the only time I ever hear about 'range anxiety' is from drivers of internal combustion engine vehicles. My car effortlessly navigates itself from charger to charger on road trips, and the luxury of that experience is simply incredible.
I am polling EV drivers to see how many have AAA or other roadside assistance plans. What is your plan if you get stuck in traffic and can't make it to a charger?
Generally it takes 5 to 10 mins to fuel my car. I'm taking delivery of a model 3 performance in July. My plan is to plug in at home and at work. Set charging for 70 to 80 percent based on what I learn for batter protection. In 2023 I drove from North Georgia to Boca Chica Texas for starship launches. It takes about 18 to 20 hours to drive. I will drive there again for IFT5 so it will be an interesting comparison.
Do you know, who would strongly disagree? Those people who claim to do 1000km all the time without any stop. Self delusion at its best. They're never hungry, never need toilet and neither do their kids... Good summary, thanks for the vid.
Exactly this. I actually do regular 1100km trips. I live a couple of hours north of Sydney, and my kids live a similar distance east of Melbourne. I leave at about 3am to miss Sydney peak traffic and stop about an hour south of Sydney for a sleep for about an hour then breakfast couple hours later for 20~30mins. About 3 hours later I stop for lunch another 20~30mins. By time I get to the border I'm pretty low on petrol so I usually stop for fill up that takes 30mins out of my way as got to drive into town then back out. I've even put my trip into several EV planning apps and they all have travel time faster than I do it.
Not anti Ev but this has to be the dumbest comparison ever. 1 power outage and you wasting most of that saved time. If you account for the walk time, every time you have to park in a specific spot made for EVs, then you aren't saving any time either. People in gas car never have to walk or park in designated areas specific to their car. Just accept that each has advantages. You sound more like a person trying to justify a dumb purchase.
"People in gas car never have to walk or park in designated areas specific to their car" yes they do, they're called gas stations... Every day, I step into my car with an 80% charge, just as I’ve set it, and I'm ready to go. Having driven gas cars for most of my life, I can confidently say I would never go back to one unless absolutely necessary.
@@punkwarlord The fact that you ended it that way tells me this is all about you justifying your purchase.
@@medhue ok, I can play your game... Fact that you started by saying "Not anti Ev" lets me know you are anti ev...
@@punkwarlord Not the same at all. You are leaving open the possibility. When I tell my neighbor about the awesome battery powered lawn mower I got, I don't tell him I'll never go back to gas ...... unless it's absolutely necessary. I'm never going back period. I love my battery power lawn tools.
@@medhue While I can't predict the future, my preference is clear: I will always choose an EV unless absolutely necessary. There may be unforeseen circumstances, such as my car breaking down, that might force me to drive a gas-powered car. However, given the choice, it's EV all the way....
Your scenario is cherry picked.
And the ICE comparisons of "I drive 800 miles ever day" aren't cherry picked? This is far more realistic than the nonsense extremes people use to argue against EVs. Like who actually drives 500miles without at least one 30+ min stop for lunch + toilet breaks.
The scenario is my experience driving both ICE and EV. It's not an extreme example by any stretch. How is it cherry picked?
@@lankyscatchannel9032 the problem Is that most people wont have your experience. Most states just don’t have the charging infrastructure. Even then im sure there are some inconveniences like having to look for parking spot with ev charging at the mall.
@@OTPulse there is no need to argue against evs. They suck objectively. A Honda Civic is more economical. It would take you over 10 years to break even on the cost even you are charging the ev for free.
@Rafa_guitars Ah yes, compare a Civic to an EV in the same class. And your example falls flat. It's not 2014 any more, there are quite a lot of EVs close to the price of a Civic at a similar size. Your "objectively suck" is your opinion, but plenty of people disagree. Constantly have to go out of your way to refuel and constantly need services, leaving you careless for chunks of the day or having to skip work because of them. That sucks! Also, he said specifically Tesla because non Tesla charging sucks-ass. His experience is more in line with the majority.
yes when the chargers work and arent backed up with other people .
That's why I specified Tesla. I've never come across a spot that wasn't working. Worst case scenario 1 stall of 12 doesn't work....but I get that at gas stations as well. Electrify America is another story. I'm shocked when they DO work!
...and other wonders of Star Trek lore. Absurd - the current would just melt the charging cable.
Unless you got a bigger cable...
How long does it take to change the oil on the Highlander?
Bam! That's right. Same with smog checks. Not often, but definitely takes a lot of time.
@@lankyscatchannel9032 Who has a complete racist chode as a founder/CEO?
I'm 27,000 miles into my Tesla adventure. Like you I charge at home, but I use an ordinary wall outlet in the garage. So I don't spend extra time looking for HOA surveillance. As a retiree, I spend a lot of time at a municipal park to get some physical activity. They have a free solar power station there. These two methods account for 100% of my around town charging. As for range anxiety: I really spent a lot of time planning my first 740 mile (each way) trip to Florida. I used A Better Route Planner and PlugShare to research routes and stops. Then I started the drive. It was so easy! Using navigation, the car finds superchargers for you and preconditions the battery for fastest charging. After the first charging stop range anxiety and extensive planning ended. I do admit to restroom anxiety, however, as this first roadtrip was at the height of the pandemic panic and most rest stops were closed and fast food places were drive thru only. But that was nothing to do with driving an EV. Added bonus: No more inhaling gasoline vapor waiting in the local Costco gas scrum. I sure don't miss that.
FYI, I don't know about the other 48 states, but in Illinois and California Home Owner Associations cannot prevent you from installing an EV charger.
@@lawrencewittenbergii4309 I was not prevented from installing a level 2 charger. I figured that I didn't need one and it's worked out fine for me. I don't even plug in every day.
I charge in my garage, out of the rain and snow. Far more convenient than going to a gas station. When on a trip using a supercharger the charging time usually aligns nicely with bathroom, meals, and leg stretching stops that we would also make in an ice car. I agree with this guy completely and don’t need the math to convince myself of the overall superiority of the EV experience.
Tesla takes less time than refueling your ICE car (sort of) if you are rich. If you have the ability to install a charger at home (most people physically cannot, most people do not live well enough off to actually afford a house with a dedicated garage or driveway). Parking space is already very limited for a majority of humanity because most humans live in much more efficiently built places than the US. If you drive maybe 20 miles a day, sure, an EV can be charged at home over night with just plugging it in, but once you start getting into longer drives (aka, the ones that actually would justify taking a car over just public transportation in a real country where you have much more efficient forms of transportation than battery EVs even) is when the EV starts losing even if you are rich, because you are gonna need to park up at a supercharger for like an hour before going again, maybe even multiple times, depending on what you are doing exactly. Oh, not to mention superchargers being a horrible idea because they absolutely murder battery cycles. And if your gas station bathroom breaks take long enough to fully charge your battery then I suggest visiting a doctor
1) Home charging stations are not prohibitively expensive. You do not have to be rich to buy them, or to even have them installed. I have two in my garage and I am by no means rich. 2) Scarce parking spaces is not something that EV's claim to fix. That is a car problem in general, but it's usually only a problem in the parts of cities that were built before personal automobiles became a thing. 3) Supercharging typically only takes about 30 minutes, not one hour. Most people do not fully charge their battery after 80%. Also, after 200 miles of driving, which is roughly 2 1/2hrs at highway speeds, most people are ready to take a break anyways, especially if they have little kids in the car. 4) Supercharging is not any worse for the battery than regular charging. You can find Tesla's with the same mileage, but one mostly supercharged and the other slow charged, they will both have similar levels of battery degradation.
@@seanplace8192 The charging circuits are in the car itself I am pretty sure, not in any sort of charger, you could probably just rip out a few cables and connect them up (would be a bit of a fire hazard probably), the cost comes from... Owning a house or garage? Which I implied in my post Most cities are designed around density these days, not automobiles, the main exception being the entirety of USA and most of Canada, which entirely rebuilt themselves around sprawling, unsustainable infrastructure for personal vehicles. In fact the best way to improve the enviroment is to just... Remove cars off the road 2.5h of driving is practically nothing even driving manual, much less a modern automatic car Battery degradation is very much a lottery, some batteries simply degrade more than others, the one study that is most commonly cited seems to have been carried out by... An EV battery manufacturer. Li-Ion batteries are very much volatile things as we know for a fact (their main redeeming quality is energy density) and we know from other usecases that they do degrade from being charged at a higher rate faster. Oh, and not to mention that it will likely not be sustainable to convert current ICE cars to battery electric without like, adding 1/3 more generation capacity to the world, which in most cases will mean a shitload of pollution
The guy's a hopeless cult member. There can be no logical intervention for these freaks.
Me: I prefer a hamburger to a chicken sandwich graham: CULT MEMBER!!!! Please explain. You're denying my experiences and opinions driving gas vs ev.
Agreed! Charging an ev is way more convenient and does save time over the long haul. Btw, I’m living vicariously through your cat after purchasing a knock off (ID4) and clunky autel charger… wishing I had just bought that Tesla 🐱 ⚡️ 🐱 My dog has never bitten me though, so I have that going for me
Did you happen to see my video of when I owned both and compare? I wished I bought a Tesla too.......so I did and sold the ID4 thankfully when the value was still high. Dropped like a rock after. Not that I care since my previous care was a 2005.
I drive to Las Vegas from Central Utah. I spend 10 minutes refueling in a 500 mile trip. You can't speak for everyone.
Well since you're charging for literally HOURS every night, you lose. Even if it took 10 minutes per fill up, that's 3-4 fill ups per month--40 minutes tops. Nope. EV's the loser by a continent.
I'm sorry, you have failed to change my mind....by a continent.
@@lankyscatchannel9032 Can't argue religion; can only argue facts. You have to have the courage to admit when you're wrong.
@@billcichoke2534 I mean his car is charging, sure, but he is in his house while the car is charging so time is not wasted.
@@billcichoke2534 You make it seem like he needs to be awake at night for his car to charge 💀 the heck
@RxPharmer Unless you're in the habit of unplugging right after plugging in to go somewhere at a moment's notice, then plugging right back in at your stop, then unplug and come back home and plug in again, you're leaving the car and assuming it as not available until it's chsrged. Most EV owners don't do this for fear of ruining the battery and other parts of the power management system. So no, it's not a matter if 'while you sleep,' per se. It's more of an 'after it's fully charged' thing.
