- Scotty Kilmer (the national treasure that he is) is wrong about EV charging.
You need a Tesla if you're going to use use my crap setup. 😂

Thanks for considering.
@scottykilmer Don't copyright strike me. I'm just a little guy.

That's trippy. I literally found Scotty's channel a day ago (I watched the video about the cheap Harbor Freight tire changing machine thing that nearly did him in). Is there a way you could put the solar panels on the roof of the garage while using them? 3:50 Who was that cat in this video, Slim cat?
Those solar panels look neat!
what I love about EV's is the cost of fuel is more stable. Gas prices are dependent upon wars and questionable countries. My local PUD doesn't adjust the rates all the time.
until you learn that power companies still rely on fossil fuels to power those chargers lol
@@ItalianMetalHED I live in Oregon. Our power is 97 percent hydro. And like lanky didn’t buy an ev to save the universe. It’s a nice side effect.
@@dethpuck price of electricity has gone way up and in many places costs more than gas. The upfront costs is usually daunting to get home charging and when batteries do fail can be half as much the car price! Tesla battery average 15-18k
This is somewhat true currently. I pay hardly anything to drive it. If the battery dies in 8 years it's under warranty. If it dies after I've easily saved that much in not buying gas. Push at the worst.
I'm going to speculate (as Scotty does) that the battery price will come down significantly in the next 8 years. I'm not the least bit worried since battery tech has improved greatly just in the last year as well as coming down in price.
When the US finally realizes nuclear power is the way to go.....we all win.
"They" will have to raise grid electric prices as demand increases. "They" will also have to raise some other cost/tax to recoup the lost gasoline per-gallon taxes. But, I think it was Ford or maybe GM that said by 2025, every EV they sold would have the ability to power your house (within it's limits) in the case of a neighborhood power outage. That's something that could temp me to buy an EV. Plus, making/storing your own electricity (solar/wind/hydro/gas generator/hamster on a wheel/whatever) is going to become more affordable over time. Panels and Batteries are both getting better & cheaper. I'm not ready to commit to an EV just yet, but I will be at some point. For now, I'm still shaking my buggy whip at all the new fangled electro-cars.
Hey Lefty. Long time listener of the cpap channel and mask bright user. As far as charging when the grid is down you demonstrated you can. There are videos and products out there like the span electrical panel, Tesla and enphase solar setups that allow solar only charging up to 48amps. I am 1 of 4 people at my work that own Teslas. All of us have different political beliefs and backgrounds, not one of us bought for environmental reasons. I have owned 3 brands and 4 models of evs and currently have 1 MY and 1 M3. I have also driven 4500 miles on one trip in our Tesla MY.
Just did a long trip in my MY and used a supercharger for the first time in a year of owning. I can't believe how much better Superchargers are than Electrify America. They just don't compare.
Hi from the UK. Great vid. Completely agree. I didn't buy a Tesla to save the planet or be green either. I don't particularly care about where the energy comes from. I bought it simply because it was BETTER than my diesel. It's quieter, smoother, faster, easier to drive and about 1/10th of the cost to drive around. I never have to service it and I never wake up thinking "damn, no fuel in the tank". The energy prices can only go up so far because people need to LIVE in their homes. Even if I wasn't on a cheap EV tariff, it would still be 50% cheaper than my diesel. Honestly lets feed the EV trolls, that way I can enjoy feeling special on the road for a little bit longer ;)
This channel is great. Always puts a smile on my face. Those little panels are doing decent. Imagine all the people out there who could buy some full sized panels without the risk of being shanked by the HOA. Then you’re really cooking
The HOA will target those big fish first giving me time to escape the dreaded.......letter in the mail (that I never respond to).
I've watched Scotty for several years - His videos are where I first learned to hate EVs , btw Scotty also hates solar panels
If you watch Scotty enough, he hates....everything.
@@lankyscatchannel9032 I agree, that’s why I like him so much

I always like experienced people telling me about things. This man just told me he knows nothing about cars but can tell a car expert that the expert is wrong! Wow! Let me say, as a tech person with 9 robots. Scotty Kilmer is pretty darn accurate in talking about EVs!
Does the man’s honesty count for nothing? Scotty undoubtedly knows cars, but much of what he does is speculation when it come to the future of EVs. As shown, he contradicts himself on these opinions often.
About cars and troubleshooting, fixing, etc….Scotty is the man.
@@Freecpapadvice I think the best way to go is a hybrid until they get the kinks out. My son's Toyota Prime can get over 100 mpg. But if he doesn't plug ot in, he runs on gas at 50 mpg.
Thats a copyrighted photo from the "HOA"
HOA owns everything. You should know better than anyone that in this neighborhood there are two things that "always be creepin'." HOA unrealistic car lift Kyle, and the translucent jellyfish.
I like the Hybrid. I've had a Prius for 11 years (cost 22,000. in 2012) ...and still no brake job. Also my friend's EV ( not tesla) only gets about 200 or so miles where then needs recharge. Takes forever to charge at our house just so she can return home. None of the charging stations were working and she was out of "gas" so would have needed a tow ;)...plus slave labor is used to mine the lithium ...even use little kids .
I love you anyway Jason :)! ps there are the batteries piling up in the landfills. Dang Jason I came here to see cats.
I swear I had a cat in the video. In the future I’ll do better. Trying to train Stewie to just sit on my head while recording.
What EV and how far away does she live?
@@Freecpapadvice haha. You probably did. Yes, I'm not sure ref k8nd of EV...will have to check, but lives in Phoenix, We live in Tucson. Def not Tesla. She ended up buying used (gasoline) car for longer trips and keeps EV for city.
Im not be-grudging your Tesla :)
There's no way you could even charge a lawn mower starter battery to start a Toro with that setup 😂😂 even if you covered your whole neighborhood
Disagree, have electric Ryobi mower and this would charge the battery easily.
Of course he is, the guy has hardly any clue about cars.
Scotty rules.
scotty is youtube’s mechanic i trust him when it comes to cars
Same here. If memory servers, he has a PHD in EE..
No question about it. He's the man when it comes to cars. But I question him on energy speculation. That's the point of this video.
EVs are the real prepper vehicles
I think Scotty's overview is not very balanced. EV technology isn't perfect but it is cleaner and safer. Electrical energy is also less subject to pricing spikes as compared to fuel at the pump.
It is amazing how people assume they know more than scientists. The research shows car emissions are a problem, and getting an EV helps that industry, which helps the World. Also, people act as if it is impossible to build power plants. Like Nashville has grown a lot in recent years. Does this mean electricity costs go up. No, they just build more plants. But the EVs need to be sold before they do. But to assume as Scotty and this guy do, that this will make electricity rates go up, is not a proven implications.
I don’t say rates will go up as Scotty says. I say they’ll probably go up.
To your point, build a nuke plant and problems solved.
@@FreecpapadviceI think nuke gets a bad rap.
100% Very inexpensive energy.
Lol....this video convinced me Scotty is right.
The important part is that I DID persuade you. 🫠
Hey if you can actually afford solar panels and a Tesla good for you.
i think there for i am . I think animals (beasts of burden) including humans would work out best . Dreamers what has made the world great . MAD MAX BEyound thunderdome . long live the king . and gas and electric
