***Cheapest*** DIY Gantry Crane On YouTube
We build a gantry crane from two scrap bed frames. We recycle the bed frame's steel tubing to create a truss configuration for the vertical columns. And, we use the bed frame's wood legs for the column feet. Total out-of-pocket cost is only $35.

Threshing Barley with a 100 Year Old Threshing Machine
มุมมอง 590ปีที่แล้ว
We are running our 100 year old Case threshing machine. Today we are threshing or separating barley. We feed the threshing machine with bundles of barley. The threshing machine knocks the seeds out of the head of the stalk then shakes and blows to send barley (the seed) out the grain pipe and the stalks, chaff and hulls out the wind stacker pipe. The threshing machine is stationary and is power...

    • @keepcalmandfarmon5401
      @keepcalmandfarmon5401 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question...the green you see are weeds (some sort of grass) that have grown up along with the barley. The barley was ready to be cut, but the weeds were still growing strong. Once cut we let the bundles dry for a week so that the green weeds have a chance to dry. Then we throw the bundles onto the wagon without fear of the weeds rotting. Thanks for watching!

    You guys are awesome! Great job! You would have had issues welding bed frame steel. It does not act like normal A36, I think it might be high carbon. Screws hold lots of things together. By the way almost every car and truck have two bolts holding the brakes on each wheel. I also love that band saw! Holy cow, what a saw. 👍👍👍👍

      The bed frame tubing is 5/8 inch diameter, 0.020 inch wall thickness (16mm, 0.5mm wall). Much too thin wall to weld with our welding skills. We considered using pop rivets in place of the sheet metal screws...we opted for self-drilling sheet metal screws for ease of assembly. The pop rivets will be "plan B" when the screws come loose. That's a good question--the tubing is 5/8 inch diameter, 0.020 inch wall thickness (16mm, 0.5mm wall). The long side rails were noticeably bent during daily use by a young teenager, so you are right that the tubing itself is not real stiff. However, in a truss configuration the system is much stronger. Our hoist's max lift is 300 lbs so we have tested this gantry crane to about 300 lbs.

    I don't understand how the pump can become exposed to water internally. Presumably, it is sealed, and constantly has a small flow of fuel vapor purging any moisture that might be in the pump and bringing it to the engine to be burned. Explanation?

    • @keepcalmandfarmon5401
      @keepcalmandfarmon5401 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Changing out the evap leak detection pump likely may NOT fix a P0457. P0457 is a code for the evap system detecting a large leak, so the evap leak detection pump seems like it is working properly (because it detected a leak). You may have a bad gas cap or a hole in the gas filler neck or in some of the piping to or from the evaporator--best to trouble shoot for leaks before changing out any parts.

      The big ring gear that is exposed on the JD No. 1 and No. 2 sickle mowers can be adjusted axially with adding and/or removing washers. This big gear is on the 1.5 inch diameter axle that runs between the two drive wheels. The spacing between the big ring gear and the smaller pinion gear--there is no adjustment that can reduce the gear teeth mesh spacing, for example, to account for gear teeth wear. You can get a FREE parts list with illustrations from Deere at partscatalog.deere.com/...search for "PCH74" for the No. 1 sickle mower.
