Threshing Barley with a 100 Year Old Threshing Machine

We are running our 100 year old Case threshing machine. Today we are threshing or separating barley. We feed the threshing machine with bundles of barley. The threshing machine knocks the seeds out of the head of the stalk then shakes and blows to send barley (the seed) out the grain pipe and the stalks, chaff and hulls out the wind stacker pipe. The threshing machine is stationary and is powered by a 1943 John Deere Model A tractor. Nowadays, the harvesting of grain is performed by one machine that is driven through the field and combines the stalk cutting and separating of the seed...the Combine.

We did some extensive repairs a few years back to get the thresher up and running. Raccoons had chewed up a lot of the wood inside. Plus, they used it as their outhouse which rusted some of the sheet metal. Thanks for watching!!!
