Fixing Worn-out Self-Propelled Lawn Mower Wheels - Part1

Is your self-propelled lawn mower no longer "propelling"? This video shows you how to refresh your worn-out plastic gear teeth in your self-propelled lawn mower drive wheels. My video features a Craftsman lawn mower that has worn out plastic gear teeth on the inside of the wheels. These plastic gear teeth are worn down where the drive gear runs. But, there are fresh teeth farther in the wheel. I use a lathe to cut down the wheel so that the drive gear now contacts these fresh teeth. Husqvarva lawn mowers also use this type of drive wheels.

I have the same one only difference is mine has a red engine cover, replaced it with all new wheels which made it look much nicer than these older ones and it runs so well for being a 2007. Love it

I just order a dust guard today for my Craftsman push mower. it does not work well without it. I had completely removed one. Because it started tearing up. I got a lot of build-up without it. I ordered one from Walmart.

I also tried running without the wheel guards...ONCE. Like yours did, my gear teeth plugged up severely.
