damaged, but not broken - healing your self worth
If you do not learn how to see yourself as good enough it always puts you in a position where you are less than other people and when you believe that you are less, you lack self-esteem and it makes you behave in ways that are not good for you and which reinforces to you the message that you are not good enough. This reinforces your insecurity and insecure people are easily manipulated so it is really important to make yourself feel safe and secure in the only way to do that is to find your goodness, be a good mother to yourself.
I hope with this video you will be able to understand why it is important to be able to say I am good enough, I am worthy, to yourself. Even if you don't believe it yet. By repeating this to yourself, over and over you can condition the mind to thinking differently about your goodness.

    Excellent video! Boundary setting is not easy for me, especially with people who react quickly in a defensive or angry way. It's so true though, the more clear we can be about our boundaries, the better and the more likely that we don't get a lot of backlash (and even if we do we can be ok with it). It's definitely a learning process. I like how you reinforce/ highlight your messages with written text popping up in your older videos.

    Excellent video! I'm very impressed how many bad habits you were able to give up! I am currently trying to reduce my coffee intake long- term, I don't necessarily want to give up on it completely but just not be so dependent on it, especially when I feel stressed or tired. It backfires as it makes me feel more anxious and my energy levels are going up and down in a very unsteady way. I managed to reduce it from a lot to two cups normal coffee mixed with decaf per day, but I still have cravings for more in the morning. What helps me is keeping busy and going outside to get some fresh air. I like your affirmation: "I don't do that anymore." Waiting like an hour until I have my first cup in the morning helps me as well.

    I have a notepad where I oftentimes write some things down in the morning that I want to do on that day. Then I write down later what I accomplished, how it went for me and oftentimes also thoughts that pop up in my head. I don't do this every day though, but the days I am, I find it very helpful and encouraging. I do like your idea with the book, just writing down the words and then the thoughts that are coming up. Thank you for these helpful suggestions for better communication! I think with some people, I would probably state what I want first, in a clear and not too emotional way like you suggested. And then I would state the facts. In my experience, some people feel offended/ attacked just when you state the facts (even if you try not to do it in an aggressive way). Then they get into a defensive mode easily. So by stating what I want/ need first, I would put the focus on the fact that there needs to be a change. I think it could even be combined with a boundary, what I would do for myself, in order to get what I need if the other person isn't willing to change. That way I'm not dependent on their reaction. But it obviously depends on the other person and how much they are willing to listen/ make changes. Other than that, I do like that you make us reflect on all the different types of reactions and which one we most likely display ourselves in a certain situation. Oftentimes, we react so quickly in a non conscious way, even if it's not helpful, just because that behavior pattern is so deeply ingrained into us.

    • @melonydee
      @melonydee หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are right, one must be carefull not to be robotic in stating the facts. When a person reacts defensively, it is becasue they are feeling attacked. I had to learn to balance my delivery, with compassion. It is possible, but it takes time to learn this. Luckily I get lots of practice in my day job :) Yes, it's also right not to attach to the outcome because we have no control over other people, only ourselves. I have a phrase that I use: conscious conflict: state the facts as I know them, respectfully, if possible and necessary...or let it be. It takes practice, so patience is paramount. Thanks for this great message. Love your comments

    Thank you for this encouragement to feel into our emotions and to name them! I agree with you, this is so important! I still get overwhelmed by my emotions (or just by life in general) easily. So for me, it's really essential to take some quiet time for myself and to rest and reflect often. When an emotion that's coming up for me is particularly intense or tough, I like to feel how it shows up within my body, where do I feel it, where do I feel tense, heavy etc. And then relax into it, relax my muscles and talk compassionately and in an understanding way towards myself and my feeling. It helps! I like your idea with going through the day and journaling about our feelings as well. I think for us women especially, it's not only childhood experiences/ programing, that can lead us to push our feelings down and instead, focus on others. It's also role expectations in society. Women are still seen as the ones who are supposed to care for others and not be too selfish etc. It can get so draining though! Thank you for reminding us to take time for ourselves and our inner state, who we are and what we truly want in life! ❤️

      It can be so daunting to set out on a journey of discovery. The uncertainty is common and I found that when I persisted, I got better and better at it. Happiness comes when you have dealt with the suffering. But know that you are always loved. Thanks for sharing so bravely

    I like this idea of naming our different personality sides, it helps to see ourselves and our behaviors with a bit of inner distance and also humor. Not taking ourselves too seriously. We are truly complex creatures and it pays off to face ourselves bravely! Personally, what helps me a lot is to try to be loving and accepting to all of my sides, as some of my behaviors (like my scared and anxious self) got shamed a lot as a child, so I would probably not call one of my sides "bitchy" but I get what you mean. It's a relief to know that we all have those different sides, none of us is "perfect" and sometimes, society or how we were raised is the "broken" part in all of this, not really us. Thank you for sharing all of your thoughts and ideas!

      You do mention the judgement free observation of our behaviors later in the video (I wrote my first comment prior to watching the whole video...), so thank you for that! I think that part is so important in order to be able to truly see ourselves!

      Thanks for this. I so apprecaite this amasing message. I was wondering just this morning if what I am doing is of any use. So thanks :) Yes, I found it very useful to identify my parts. It's a Jung thing, but I adapted it to make sense to me so I could see myself better. I'm sorry to hear about you as a child. I also understand, because it happened to me. I now take great care of my Little Mel so do take care of your little person inside.They are still there. I get what you say about bitchy. Funny thing is, after all this time of seeing her, she's no longer there.

      @@melonydee So true! Thank you for your thoughtful and kind replies! Yes, I'll try to be kind and loving to my "little me". I found that it also helps me to be more compassionate and patient with others, particularly my children. And yes, what you do is of great value! You help others see things more clearly, even if we have already done some work ourselves, your videos are great reminders and I like your journaling ideas!

    Thank you for the video. Your journey reminds me of my own. When I stopped being responsible for my husband to change and started working on myself and my own goals I started feeling empowered versus drained ,deflated and depressed. Difference in mindset brings freedom to our lives. I like the words you use creator instead of rescuer and the victim. Good stuff!
