How I Made Journaling Easy (and how you can too)

  • I’ve had a consistent journaling addiction for over a decade, but before I managed that, I barely ever touched a journal. Any time that I tried to, I immediately became overwhelmed by all the stuff built up in my head. There was no one clear place to start, so I didn’t.
    How did I change that?
I found a way to cheat, and it gave me the emotional release I needed to start dealing with my shit. Today, I want to offer that hack to you!

I hear it from all around: journal! And I still don’t want to do it.
I’ve got this big inner resistance.
Maybe ( just maybe) , I might start with writing that I do not want to write about the stuff in my head and heart.

@@melonydee I did it 😁 just one page with one argument why I don’t want to journal.
But I know another reason why , so maybe ( just maybe) I’ll write that down tomorrow. I might make this into a complaining-journal 😏.
I am so good at being critical but I hate that about myself aaaah 🤪

yea, hearing it from others really built up my resistance to it as well. I "accidentally" fell into it which helped me feel like it was my idea, lol.
before that moment it was always someone else's idea, therefore I could never get into it.

I did Morning Pages for a few years, then time became a problem. I have since just journaled on my phone every time I notice something coming up strongly. It’s not perfect and I don’t do it nearly enough (although it’s already quite a lot) and I’ve found that very helpful. Still wish to get back to writing on paper but the quick and snappy ability to just use a journal app on the phone became too convenient. Thank you for your video, and good luck with the channel!

You are so welcome :) and rather out than in I say - so whatever works to move the strong feelings out. Thanks for sharing this. I'm sure this is going to help someone get started, and I appreaciate you taking the time to watch and comment.

Hi! I stumbled upon on your channel and I've been journaling when I was 16 years old thanks to Anne Frank's book.
Im in my late 30s now and I have this on-and-off relationship of going back to writing my journal, I skip a year for no reason at all.
Thanks for this video, I hope it reaches many people who are in the brink of leaving journaling like I did!

Thanks for sharing your habit. I totally get the gaps thing...I did that too, but I found that my head stoped working properly.

I have been falling in love with journaling in the last couple of years of my life.
Some how, using an iPad to write on with an Apple Pencil, was the beginning of falling in love with the journaling experience.
Then, recently, I started searching for Journaling prompts and mental health workbooks on Etsy that others have created, and I started using prompts from those mental health workbooks to further and deepen my journaling.
Recently, I've been finding Inner Child mental health prompts, deeply supportive for what I'm working on.
Anyway, thought I'd share since there's a similarity to your story! Finding someone else's prompts helped take the pressure off of me getting started.

I have a notepad where I oftentimes write some things down in the morning that I want to do on that day. Then I write down later what I accomplished, how it went for me and oftentimes also thoughts that pop up in my head. I don't do this every day though, but the days I am, I find it very helpful and encouraging. I do like your idea with the book, just writing down the words and then the thoughts that are coming up. It reminds me of how I used to study in college. You are so right by the way, I have several self-help books sitting at home already that I could use... Thank you for this encouraging video! ❤️

I like that. Jotting things down as they come up, checking in later. Good practice. And you are welcome. 😊
