I have some classic muscle, GM’s, Ford’s, Mopar’s and even sportbikes and the occasional import. I also turn my own wrenches and do 90% of my own repairs or modifications and restoration. Bought this 2002 Camaro SS and the alternator was faulty. I replaced it with a Amazon ordered Ac Delco Reman Truck Alternator that didnt work for more then 10minutes. I then had Amazon send me a new alternator which was then cancelled bc of their poor customer service after delaying my shipment. Settled for a CarQuest New Truck Alternator and so far so good. I got a 2011 grand marquis. And she gets stuck on high and sometimes a pulse. I got the resistor but I’m a bit nervous on taking it on myself. I live in Canada so its getting colder out if I’m dealing with plastic clips. You think it’s worth doing it in my drive way with my father. I’m 19 btw. Or just go to a shop. Also when u disconnects that hose is it not a coolant hose ?
@@davidkuestoni9261 it’s not too bad especially if you loosen the hose. You will lose a little coolant but i just pinched it closed and elevated it and all was fine. Could plug it with a socket you arent using too. I would say even if you are new, it’s fairly easy and i would think even easier on a 2 valve since the motor is smaller. Give it a shot, just take your time and keep track of what you are doing as you do it. Good luck

@ the auto and the manual both feel comparable. If you get time, on my channel i did two seperate videos with multiple races in them from dig to roll race of my 02 Z28 vs my previous 04 mach 1 in auto and my 04 manual. My most recent video on the race was posted the beginning of this year, it includes all the previous races and newest ones, it was a lot of fun actually comparing the two…stock for stock

I love my C5Z the side profile is soooo unique it gives a nod to the C2 split window, it’s a “notch back” I guess, makes it look way more “raw” like a hot rod vs the long sloping hatchback look

@@Crich224 Marauder for sure. Marauders came with the 32 valve 4.6 dual over head cam where the crown vic was the single over head cam. Marauder motors are similar to what came in a Mach 1 or a Terminator without a supercharger

@lsx_doc I'm in a 91 miata with a turbo but my dream is to have that yellow z06 you have as well as the miata. Or well, the real dream is to put your motor into my miata. Haha. But that's down the road.

The C5 fixed roof body is something else. Has aged amazingly well... love the car.

@@lsx_doc I agree with you. When I started Vette shopping I didn't like the FRC but when I drove the C5Z I own now I, didn't care at all about the rear glass just for the driving experience. After owning it a while I love that it makes the car look different from a base C5 and now I prefer it. Especially with a small lip spoiler or a duck tail.

Very nice car, all fixed up, and well taken care of. It's amazing just how many mfr.s have serious design issues with their cars, and they just deny their mistakes/failures. And I think all mfr.s have had issues! It's an industry wide problem I guess.

Customer Service is EVERYTHING. It takes years to build trust and a relationship, and only minutes to destroy it. I'm glad the company that you bought the POS slave cylinder returned your money. Good for them. I bet you'll buy from them again, but the slave cylinder mfr. again? NEVER! Hey, BTW, have you ever thought of putting coilers on the C5? I'm considering doing it on my C4 convertible. I just think that any shock that starts on one side of the car get transmitted to the other side through the transverse leaf spring. Do you have any thoughts on that topic?
@@jimmerriman6920 very true and unfortunately i know faulty products happen, just hate it happened and didnt know till reassembly lol lookin back i was livid. It all had to come back out
@@jimmerriman6920 as for the C4 im not a suspension expert but the only real time i have with a C4 was my 88. It was a great car and i thought it handled amazing so i never looked into doing much suspension wise. It did have bilsteins i remember that much. If i did coilovers i would do adjustables for sure. Chevrolet made them so well balanced and up until the C8 Corvette, i believe they were GM’s biggest investment on research and development for handling….they spent a fortune on getting that car dialed in which later in the 80’s did so well it caused other manufacturers to withdraw from racing completely. It may very well transfer but i felt the car transferred weight so well it never got lose on me. Maybe just fresh shocks could help. My mom had a 94 and that car was very stiff from the factory, much more stiff then my 88 was. She never drove it hard though
Regarding, cleaning AL suspension pieces to look brand new, etc... I've seen a couple of videos from guys that restore cars, specifically www.youtube.com/@M539Restorations This restorer concentrates on BMWs in Germany. Apparently after a restoration is done, or when a car is registered with new ownership, the car must be inspected by German DMV. It is a very rigorous inspection, far more rigorous than any inspection I know about here in the states. To do so, he goes through the car with a fine tooth comb, replacing anything that even looks dirty. He uses one of these dry ice machines. While trying to find the video for you of this process, I found another video that details this. th-cam.com/video/-O4gemWrn84/w-d-xo.html I don't have a clue what these machines cost, or if there are shops that do this cleaning for a fee. I have to believe that there are. If not, this would be a nice business venture to get into because I can definitely see the benefit of the dry ice cleaning process! I think there must be shops offering this service though, specially in FL where you live and the car culture is alive and well! But check the video out and let me know what you think.
Your attitude regarding when to back away from a project when one is feeling frustrated by whatever part of a project one is working on, is right on. Most people will make more mistakes when they are frustrated. It important to know when to back off, not quit, but just take a break and start fresh another hour or day. Good for you!

@@lsx_doc Being 6'4" w/ an 36" inseam, I can't fit into C1-C3. I have a C4 convertible which is "new to me" this summer. It's a fun car with the LT1 engine... no where as powerful as either of your two, but honestly, I don't want too much HP and TQ in a convertible... I am considering a C5 Z06 in the future though.

What’s ever bro, the c6 ls7 427 will beat that ls6 in a flash. LS6 can’t even beat a base LS2 or a ls3, what makes you think they can hang with the 427? LS6 can beat a báse ls1 only
@@tedruis967 an ls6 can very easily beat an ls2 and with bolt ons easily make over 500hp beating a ls3
A base C6 LS2 is close but not quicker stock for stock to a C5Z.

The LS7 Corvette is a legendary car that still is very relevant today. It’s imo the ultimate Corvette. Raw power. I added a carbon fiber steering wheel and black ball shifter and it transformed the driving experience.
