Old men need higher cars to get easier out of I reckon 😆 Quite the hood-barge-look that 17" abominations made of the previously nice mustard-colored Esprit I'm afraid. I do not deny restomods by principle, but that rims and tyres are not cutting any mustard.

Both those esprits have the gas struts fitted upside-down.

All the charm is in the original stock specification. It’s design was literally perfect. Why fool around with it?

Resto mod stance looks odd. Wheels are too big,…sits too high. Like the mechanical mods and some cosmetic.

Holding out of focus for that long is not artistically compelling. It is frustrating at best.

I think finding a 16" wheel with a tire to keep the same or only slightly larger tire diameter, would look mu h better than thos 17s. Ive seen 4x4 trucks with less ground clearance.

I used those brake dust covers just long enough to realize that my brakes would very quickly overheat and stop working. Also, I might've like the 17" wheels if I wasn't directly comparing them to the stock size. That said - it is smashing, mazel tov!

Got to get rid of those God aweful and illegal black plates on the restomod car. Just dont look right on a new car.

I would have gone with black and gold wheels (kind of a John Player theme). 17s are fine but I would have gone uber-low profile - 35 series are available. Then, if you've got coil-overs on that thing, you may still need to ratchet it down about an inch. It's too tall as it sits.

Does the seats on these has recline ?

Wow, two stunning Lotus’s. I owned a 2005 Elise, and a 2011 Evora 2+0. These just look so much cooler!

Remember as a boy looking in an Elite parked on a city street. The interior looked like science fiction.

I dont like how the "improved" looks.....

The rims seem too large for the car, especially the thinner front rims. They're beautiful rims but they're out of proportion to the rest of the car, they just don't fit.

WHEN YOU ADD A LARGER WHEEL TO THE ORIGINAL DESIGN IF AUTOMATIC THE TRANSMISSION WILL WEAR MORE OF THE INTERNAL CLUTCH PLATES, IN A MANUAL THE RELEASE OF THE CLUTCH WILL TEND TO SLIP A BIT MORE BECAUSE THE DIAMETER OF WHEEL IS LARGER BUT IN THIS SETUP I WONT REALLY MATTER MUCH , THE AXLE SEALS ARE A CONSTANT LEAK ON THE RENAULT OR FRENCH MANUAL TRANSMISSION THE HIGH VOLTAGE COIL WHEN HOT ARE INTERMITTENT ON ORIGINAL LOTUS COILS COMMON PROBLEM, THE V8 ESPRIT HAS A DRIVER TRANSISTOR WEAK SOLDERING INTERMITTENT HIGH VOLTAGE SPARK PROBLEM ALSO, RE-FLUX RE-SOLDER DRIVER TRANSISTOR PINS AT PCB BOARD ECU

I very much enjoyed your Esprit videos in part because I owned a 907 S2 in metallic gold. I have always wondered if my car is still in circulation and if you guys have access to records or currents cars and owners or if any watchers know anything. My car must have been one last 2 litre cars and sitting for a while in a new dealer showroom because it was on a 1980/81 W reg plate. I bought it from the Norwich Lotus dealer in 1982 with low miles and sold it on to a London car dealer a year later in mid 1983. I put a private reg plate on it and because I kept the plate it would have remained on a W plate because of it's date of first registration. Unfortunately, I do not have the chassis number but what might set it apart is I had the cylinder head was rebuilt following a cam belt failure and Dave Smith Engineering of Gants Hill area NE London did a big valve cylinder head rework with a claimed 190 bhp. It was faster but only above 5000 rpm. If anybody has the car today I have lots of stories to share. Thanks and great videos guys.

Was the fact that they came back flat because they made them that way? If so, that's rather concerning because as you say they aren't going to fit like that.... Thanks!

Does the S2 have the dual fuel tanks or was that just for the S1? Also do you think they is room in the engine bay to put in either a 6 cylinder engine or an Emira 4 cylinder turbo engine?

You’ve killed the stance of the car with those wheels, just shows what happens when you mess around with things you don’t understand. ,

if this has the lotus CR gearbox , its a matter of when not if it the gears fail... if you do clutch it might be a good idea to replace teh problems gears..

Like some of the mods on Marks car and getting 225bhp from a 2.2 litre engine from the 70's is very impressive but not a fan of those wheels.

This local garage in the countryside of England, with an amazing collection of cars and can service a lotus has the perfect setting, character and atmosphere. Visiting here from Canada this week and I've fallen in love with the country. A Lotus car and these roads were made for each other!!!! Very smooth music for the video also 👌

I wouldn't have traded the elan+2 for an Esprit, I would have fixed the roof as the elan is a better useable car. I've tried both.
