You saved me from buying it! Thank you for releasing a review on this device! I don’t even like a handheld that you need to connect it to your PS console all the time with internet connection. I mean it’s good if you can play the games as long it is connected to your account not on the PS5 or 4 console but i doubt Sony will ever launch it since the consumer will not buy their other released handheld device and i find it really greedy in so many ways.

great video, love the edits, stellar blade was aces for me, i think since i missed alot of ps4 titles, i am enjoying the ps5 now, and experiencing all the backlog plus this generation

I bought mine almost now three weeks ago, i left pS back in 2016 when i ventured into PC. Let jist say it like this.. $1,100 to $1,500 to have the same or, if not just slightly better performance, of course.. dump more into the PC and yea you get more FPS and better res, trust me i know.. But with all the hacking on so many games.. why.. whats the point then.. PS5, $399.99 AND WOW So much has changed and i love it so much.

Have really good WiFi and plugged into Ethernet and still getting really bad frame drops and stuttering. Can the portal smoothly run call of duty or is it a WiFi issue. In which case how can I go about fixing it. Thank you!

Streaming has audio popping, low compressed frame rate. Graphics glitching. 90% of the time the games won't start. Can't skip cinema scenes. Cheaper to buy a emulator with all PS2 and PS3 games.

I like you have read a hell of a lot of the various different Spider-Man comics through the multiple decades and this is why i like insominac they do a great job with spiedy dropping comic references throughout the series . Great video

I am watching this video in June 2024 and the panorama is not that different, at least here in Chile, a remote country which has excellent internet service but the cloud gaming offers are very bad, this Nvidia Geforce experience with a very "Latam" cut plan since in the USA it offers 4k 120fps (RTX 4080) for $20USD per month in Chile it only offers 1080p 60hz for the same price... I think the best option here is remote play.

For me nvidia is the best because I do not even wanna spend 1 dollar on these so yea.

I've had GeForce ultimate for a while now. Not perfect but man do they get close. Still an alternative for me as a busy dad with weird hours but I long for the day it's as good as native because I love playing on my phone.

Price is so high because they have sent it free to a legion of TH-camrs for review! Its unfortunately about $50 more than I think its worth.

I agree totally remote play on the portal for me has been a stuttering mess,remote play on other decives on the same network work much better.ive read that some of the stuttering might be due to the differences between the ps5 and portal refresh rates.lets hope sony sort it out.

When are people gonna learn to stop taken these “ Reviewers” serious when everything they do is for likes and views. Firstly your router is crap, but secondly this is a * REMOTE PLAYER* which means it’s not meant for everyday use. It’s only for when the tv is used or when you’re out and want to kill sometimes. Had mines since November and had no issues still. The thing is I don’t play with it like an actual handheld device

The cutscenes completely take over and ruin it if you've had time off. I was coming up to a 2 year break when Lance Reddic passed and wanted to go to the Tower. So I reinstalled the game, etc but was forced to watch a multitude of cutscenes etc and was then thrown straight into a mission. Fortunately I could back out but now when I return proper I'll be even more clueless.

Geforce now works flawless for me , its so good , almost no lag , and maxed out graphics on every single game. Cant recommend it enough

I've got the ultimate tip to fix most freeze frames/shutters on Portal. Go to your network setup name on PS5 settings. Press options for advanced settings and switch your mtu to manual, then slightly lower it to 1473 from the default 1500. This simple change made my experience basically flawless, combined with the other tips you mentioned. Let me know if it works for you... 😉👍

Sorry to hear about your experience. It sounds like you need to give it up. I guess I'm fortunate. I've had no issues, but I'm more of a casual gamer. Mainly use it to get a few matches of FC24 before falling asleep in the comfort of my bed. If i feel like having a long session, I just use the PS5 on the oles tv.

Love my portal. Do I wish it was oled, absolutely. Blacks could be better, but otherwise it's pretty awesome. I use a £5 Bluetooth receiver off Amazon, and I actually have a receiver from temu I picked up for 75p, but my JBL headphones won't connect which is annoying, as it's not the fault of receiver, but rather JBL not allowing connection without certain standards being present. I understand that the experience for secondary user isn't ideal, but when that's same for all similar devices, it tells you that's just unfortunately limitations of the wayt the technology works.

Judging from how they gave us shoddy quality controllers with the PS5 and then released a Pro model later; They're gonna update the chip, work out a couple of issues here and there, and try to sell us the Portal 2 or Portal Pro blah blah blah. I'd been eying this ever since it came out but I wanted to wait and see what the reviews say 6 months down the line. Thank you for saying me $200.

Good video, but there are some holes I see in the video, for example, if video game cost is based on the human element, then why did the industry lose workers across the board with layoffs. Also I’ve checked the PlayStation storefront, and yet, ghost of Tsushima, demon’s souls, fifa, and returnal are still 70 dollars. I know this is probably not a good comparison, but re4 remake and dead space are newer, but go on sale way more often. I’ve seen dead space reach 30 or so Canadian dollars on sale, and re4 fell all the way to 53 Canadian (roughly 35 pounds). Also comparing cinema to video games to movie tickets isn’t really a good idea because the ticket is a one way experience( once it’s used it’s done), while video games can be played with the same hardware more than once. Also people eventually can do the dev’s job and mod the games when they emulate them on pc to be compatible with haptic feedback. But your previous point is true as gamers are impatient and want to experience these games right now.

But I am still ok with it, the only problem that I found is the battery life. I wish it was alittle bit longer. Now i am getting around 4.5-5 hours gameplay.

Thanks for the review but I’m sad to hear you had such a negative experience. I’ve had the complete opposite experience. I love my portal. I’ve played all of God of war Valhalla and cyberpunk on it and had no real issues. It’s worked almost flawlessly. My Ps5 is in my basement and it works great in 2 floors up in my bedroom. Even sitting in my car tethered on my phone works great. I would 100% recommend it. I honestly think you might just need a better router? The portal has really opened up my gaming time. I have 3 kids and don’t always have time to play. But with the portal I can sit and play 20-30 minutes. I’ve had a great experience!

So, all of your disappointment comes from using the ISP router? What do you expect? The takeaway should be to not buy this if you don't have a good router.

Use my phone? No thanks. Backbone £100 and no haptic feedback and worse controls. My phone is 6" and small. No thanks I'm on virgin media and only 130mb speed hub 4 and I've had zero issues except if I was downloading games. There's clearly something in your virgin hub set up that's not right. You would be best contacting them to try talk to technical support. That thing about removing hdmi cable is clearly not based on any logical reasoning
