Great video thanks, well explained on the pro’s and cons. I’d love to play FIFA (or EA Sports FC) on a handheld but from my checks it’s not available yet on the beta cloud platform. Also just a quick question, can you connect Bluetooth headphones which aren’t Sony ones?
Not directly no. The only wireless audio connection turned on for the Portal is PlayStation Link. You can however use a Bluetooth adaptor in the 3.5mm headphone jack to add Bluetooth. I show a couple of options for this in my original review from last year
hello, i dont own a ps5 or portal but wanted to get the portal. does this update mean you can buy a monthly subscription and instantly get access to a lot of ps5 games?
It does yes. Bear in mind that the games and their streaming are in Beta, so lots could change very quickly. But with the purchase of a Portal and the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, monthly and annual options are available, you can play a curated library of PS5 games
the drop outs your having would that be due to your internet speed? reasons for asking is I have a 1gb connection and my rog ally never drops out or has bad quality and always feels like I'm playing the games natively
I also have gigabit broadband and suffer none of those issues on any other device. The Portal has the Snapdragon 662 entry level phone chipset inside, which isn't good in phones let alone a gaming handheld. It's just not as capable as a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Ryzen Z1 even a Lunar Lake. That said the issue only crops up with remote play and the PS5 has a static IP and is hardwired. So who knows
Feels like somewhere along the way OP forgot this was a BETA release. Most things noted as negatives such as world wide release, trophy screen, lack of PS button functionality, all these issues must be because it’s in BETA. One would hope anyway.
One would indeed hope. I did mention the Beta first in my drawbacks section, so of course all of those challenges could change, improve or be added to during the Beta phase. Global rollout however, has been an issue since PS Now launched in 2012. 12 years later I'd personally hope for a better advancement than 8 additional countries. Who knows though, if the Portal Cloud gaming takes off could be the sign Sony needs
I had poor connection via laptop or my phone, Portal has the best connection for me - very polar opposite experience to Doragon. - maybe because my PS5 is wired via ethernet cable. It's great they have finally released cloud streaming to Portal - they mentioned about it in one of the interviews at the release that it might be a possibility in future and future has arrived.
Hello, thanks for the video. Quick question from a dad who does not really understand all this. We have a PS5 and 4 children. Child A will want to play COD while Child B Fortnite at same time. Would it now be possible for Child A to online stream one game on portable while Child B plays another game on console. Would this mean having two separate Playstation plus accounts? Cheers
With the example titles you give I'm sorry to say no, however that is only because neither Fortnite nor Call of Duty are available on the PS Portal Cloud Catalogue. If one wanted to play COD on the console though and the other wanted to play the likes of Ghost of Tsushima, which is included in the library, then it does work, I tested this exact scenario with my partner playing on the main console. Depending on the games that each wants to play, it does open up the options for multiple people to play at once
I wanna know if I buy games online through the PlayStation, will I be able to play them in the cloud? That will be a game changer for me. I don’t want a handpicked Library. I don’t really care about.
