Vintage camper renovation 1969 Winnebago
Wow, you did an absolutely fantastic job! Now, I'm on the lookout for a contractor who can match your incredible work.
Thank you I appreciate! Good luck
Where can I get that wood for the ceiling from?
Lowe’s or Home Depot
How did you attach the insulation to the building? Just the foil tape to the steel studs? You didn’t use any adhesive??
Just foil tape all the way around to the studs, but I cut all of the pieces oversized so they are wedged in tightly
I’m about to start my 20x25 with 14 ft walls. Trying to decide between the 1 or 2” foam board. Do you find you get what you want out of the 1 inch. I’m in south Louisiana and probably have the same climate somewhat.
It kinda depends on how you’ll be using the space 1” had been pretty good but if you’re gonna mostly be cooling the space and keeping it closed up I’d go for 2”. That being said when i do close up the shop and want to cool the space it does work decent
Metal building on insulation
How wide are the boards around the top?
2x12s
why would you put the air conditioner behind the toilet it will become covered in feces and urine and the bathroom has no door so the main cabin will become heavily humid anytime someone showers and there is no carbon filter or vent for the kitchen area so now your camper is gonna be humid, smell like fried eggs and feces
Did you need permits for this?
What brand or name of the side entry door did you use when you replaced the one that came with the building.
Looks nice
Thought foil dide faces down
This is just beautiful! I love Vintage RVs, especially old Winnebagos, and I would love to Reno an old Brave in the exact Harvest Gold motif you’ve got going on! Kudos!!!
Floors and cab corners intact? If so that’s a win!
Yep, everything‘s in great condition 👍🏼
Wonderful. Liked supported and subscribed too fellow vloggers and content creators
This is beautiful! We are about to buy the same pool in 12x24. The build looks straightforward enough. My question is about the equipment. My pool service company wants to charge me $2000 for a Jandy pump and $1700 for a Jandy filter which is obviously ridiculous. May I ask what brand of sand filter you bought? Or if anyone else reading this has a suggestion, I'm all ears! Judging by the comments, it has worked out well for you! Any other advice or tips on equipment? Thanks!
This is a Intex sand filter/pump same brand as the pool going on four years now and it’s been just fine. I’m sure they make one. That’s the right size for your pool seems to be really good for the money.
How many yards of concrete did it take to fill that 24 by 25 form? What is the ballpark primcost of a unit like that the in your area off the shelf? thanks
Man, I’d have to look back at some paperwork off the top of my head. I thought that they ordered 10 yards to play it safe and that was with 17” x 12” footers I believe… and if I remember correctly, we had about a half a yard left over
I did the same thing when my son came here to Mississippi go to college, same size shed but we built it into a tiny house for him to live in while he was going to school. I already lived in a tiny house and still do so he couldn't live with me so we just built the shed into a tiny house for him, he's graduated and moved bought a small 2 bedroom house in town so I rent it out to a married couple that are both in college.
Nice 1981 INDIANA license plate!
This is not a Winnebago. It's a trailer
I just saved this video for my future metal barn. Thanks for sharing!
Glad I could help!
How far apart are the 1x4 horizontally? And I'm still confused on your corner trick
Their run so that a sheet of plywood can land on them at the bottom, middle and top leaving 2 inches hanging out at the top to overlap the next piece of sheathing… If that makes sense. The corners you’re just adding blocking like you would, if you were doing drywall so that there’s something to mount too, and you can, butt your sheeting up to the corner
Wash the dog in the kitchen sink... I don't think so.
How did you do the foam board and plywood around the roll up doors?
Yes I am wondering the same what size is this ?????
10x14
What did you use for the undercoat?
For the subfloor? I used flexseal rubber coating… Two coats. First time using it it actually worked really well.
Great work. Just curious, did you not have to put any rafter vents in the ceiling for the hot air?
It had a small roof vent already so I just left what was there
That's a great idea for selling a house because some mortgages won't finance a new buyer If a house has an inground pool.
Have you experienced any issues as far as moisture in the insulation walls or ceiling?
None 👍🏼
Is doing the cieling a choice about looks or cost/labor? I want to drywall but i know lifting it to the coeling wouls be murder on me
This just happened to be the look we wanted, but it did make things a lot easier to manage since I was working alone
How big is this 9 x 9 ?
It says 14x10x10
The building is 10x14 with 10’ center ceiling height
what did you use to attach the 1x4's to the metal? self tapping screws?
Yep 👍🏼
Wow… that looks fantastic! Great job!!! 👏
Thank you! Cheers!
How did you make the LED block behind the wings...? @theheights
Kind of hard to explain, I found some plastic/PVC type material at Lowe’s. Cut out the shape and attached the LED light then mounted the wing directly to the block.
How is it holding up
Would love to have a digital plan/blueprint if you have one
Unfortunately, I don’t have one. I was kind of winging it during the building process.
Looks great ... Question about the AC ... This is where I'm struggling is the window AC is normally those for windows. I can see yours like that too and the vents on the side of the AC will get covered on the wall? If you can give more details about the framing. That will be helpful. Also, great idea about the ceiling wood plank ... When you get a chance ... do you have a link of that product?
Are you looking for a link on the AC unit? a.co/d/4s6qvAx The AC unit does have a vent on the backside to get rid of the hot air/water. The space between the vents in the front of the unit and the back of the unit fits perfectly inside my 2 x 4 wall the same way it would in between a window frame , if that makes sense and then it is completely foam sealed inside the 2 x 4 wall framing
Fantastic build btw. It's been another 6 months any issues with teh AC unit being inside the wall? Cause that unit looks amazing for my shed to office conversion
There’s about a 4 inch section of the center of the unit that is solid. These are 2 x 4 framed walls. All of the venting hangs out the back of the building and all of the interior venting is on the interior… None of it is covered up. It all has room just as if it was in a window. The 2 x 4 section that frames out the actual unit is completely watertight and sealed …if that makes sense
@@fullfacejosh6809 the AC unit has been fantastic. Everything works great no issues very efficient.
Do you collapse the pool in the winter, or do you leave it out? I'm considering using your idea, but my wife is concerned that it is not a good idea in Swedish winter temperatures.
We don’t really get a winter here in Florida, but I will drain the pool and just keep it covered… It gives me the opportunity to clean the liner and prep everything when refilling it for the next season. And because of the size of the pool it’s very inexpensive to fill.
I just did my 1976 Shasta 2400 RBR for a reintroduction back on the market to bring some vintage style back with a little personal touch. Great to see another person out there like me, and loves dogs. Bailey is the best project manager!! Best wishes for your continued success going forward from my little fur family to yours.
Nice ! Thanks i appreciate it!
Man that really looks great! Nice work!
Thanks!
Around 4k
Nice 👍🏼
How much did the shed cost to convert?
Around $4000
The bathroom in the middle that you removed, with walls running from floor to ceiling, more than likely gave the camper it's structural integrity to a large extent. Now that's gone and it's just some spindly sticks trying to hold their shape in gale force winds and bumpy roads.
In this particular build, we used angle iron in the center, and in the ceiling in place of wood framing
Looks good. Sand filters are not an upgrade to filter pumps though, at least performance wise. Much lower microns with pleated filters.
The small paper filters would clog up quickly and were high maintenance for cleaning and changing them out. The sand filter is just a much more maintenance free set up.
@@The_Heights then it was too small of a cartridge (undersized). Properly sized, the carts are soooooo easy, clean, and most importantly effective.
@@GarbageMan2025 yeah I wouldn’t be surprised. It was undersized. It definitely seemed that way. It was the stock filter that comes with these pools, which seemed really cheap.
I love it❤New subscriber🎉
Thanks for subbing!
Came out awesome!!
Thanks!
Great job!!
Nice work! We spent 7 months renovating a 1995 travel trailer. Nice touches!
Thanks !
What brand of insulation did you use on the exterior?
Polypro - from Lowe’s
What was the silver foil on the floor? Insulation? Can you provide a brand name please.
Not sure the brand it’s just a boil/bubble insulation they sell at Lowe’s
I'm getting ready to do this with my '59 Traveleze. This might sound odd, but how do you attach the sub floor to the metal frame? Did you add those cross beams so you could attach it to those? I don't really understand how the trailer stays securely on the trailer frame. Thanks!!
The subfloor attaches using carriage bolts through the floor and through different parts of the actual frame, depending on the type of camper and brand
