I like the effect mink oil paste has on suede. Hardens it some and gives it a shine without the skin texture of normal leather. My suede wallet has gotten to the point it heals scratches just by putting it in and out of my pocket. Does darken, but it's worth the trade off imo. Thanks for the video!

After soaking feet in 3% hydrogen peroxide, rinse and dry. Then, wipe one foot with povidine iodine, using a flat cotton cosmetic pad. Drive iodine under nails and between toes. While the iodine is still wet, put your foot in a shoebox full of borax powder ( borax available at grocery and hardware stores) . Leave foot in the box while you cover the second foot in povidine iodine. Shake off excess borax and put on sock that was either washed with bleach or washed in at least 140-degree temperature water. Repeat with other feet. Do this every morning. In the evening, cover feet in either clove or tea tree oil and put on fresh socks. The hydrogen peroxide only kills off some of the fungus, and will set you up for worse problems if used alone. It will definitely soften the skin so the iodine and borax can penetrate. The recommended course of treatment using the strongest RX is one year. So eradicating this problem even with an RX is a long-term commitment. You will get excellent results with this home remedy. It is important to continue for a month or so once all visible signs of fungus have disappeared. Then begin a step-down regime like every other day, or skip the weekends. It is very important to never ever wear the same boots/shoes more than 1 day. Then, rotate to another. The boots should be blasted with a hot hairdryer at the end of each day and, if possible, set in the sun. For toe fungus, it might be necessary to LIGHTLY sand the top half of each affected nail so the 3% hydrogen and the iodine will penetrate. Nail fungus may require cutting a flat cotton cosmetic pad to the exact size of the affected nail, and putting a few drops of 2% lugol's iodine (available on Amazon) on the cotton and then tape in place so it has all day to penetrate. Nail will turn orange, and that is a good sign that it is penetrating the nail. DO NOT put 2% iodine on skin, only povidine iodine, which has glycerine to keep the skin from drying out and getting damaged. The reason this is so hard to treat is the presence of bio-film in the body. Start each day with 1/2 lemon squeezed into a cup of hot water (throw in the rind) OR 1 tsp. of apply cider vinegar in a cup of warm water first thing in the morning to start breaking down bio-film, systemically. Lay off of sugar and sweetened drinks. Starting brewing Hibiscus tea (buy in bulk on Amazon). Delicious. If you need a sweetener use honey or Stevia. Corn syrup and sugar are inflammatory and promote to growth of biofilms and fungus. If you can't commit to every part of this protocol don't waste your time. There is no easy fix and you must permanently commit to living a healthier life, or it will come back. Research bio-film disruptor supplements.

For those that don’t know, IF you use mink oil paste on suede or leather, IT WILL DARKEN THE SHOE! I personally like it but most don’t. If you want to draw the mink oil out, cover the shoes with baking soda or cornstarch! Cornstarch is best. After they sit in the cornstarch for a couple of days, simply brush the cornstarch off. Voila. It absorbed all the moisture and returns your shoes to its natural finish. You’re welcome.

A mink oil paste usually contains a significant amount of wax that gives greater water repellency than a liquid.

Bick 4 will not change the color of your leather - because it does absolutely nothing at all. Just pray over your boots. Same result and less money.

Hands off! Keep your hands away from your feet when you have an active infection! Use gloves all the time.

Mink oil darkens leather - either decide you don't mind, or use something else Saphire makes a suede and nubuck conditioner / water proofer.

I’ve had both boots never had one issue quality wise but if I’m being honest Wingshooter is a really warm shoe compared to Ashby I’ve had both numerous times and sometimes I swap to Ashby and it feels like my feet breathe again lol

Got the ashbys and I think they’re pretty good. I work as a sheet metal worker in particular sheet metal roofing and that means I’m handling 10’ sheets of sharp metal working at a very rapid pace. The boots are holding up and protecting my feet when I hit them while flipping the sheet on a bend.

In this kind of situation or job you need a lot of spare boots.. Gore-Tex lined preferably. You need to take a spare pair of boots and fresh socks to work every day and change them half way through the day. Let your feet dry in the air before swapping footwear and maybe cover your feet in anti fungal powder before the fresh socks are worn. The secret is to keep moisture away from any kind of fungal growth or sore skin, which is hard to do in this environment. I use raw bleach on a cotton bud and literally smother it in between my toes and it stings sometimes but it definitely clears the fungal problem up. Another important thing to do is always stuff your boots with newspaper or a dry 100% cotton pillowcase or old cotton sheet ripped into sections and packed into the front of the boots.. you should really have a rota of boots which need to be bone dry ready for the next day, that’s a key factor.

How do you get the smell of mink oil off leather?

Scrub your feet, toe nails with nails brush use soap. Dry. Use cotton ball dab toes and affected area. Dry. Everyday

The absolute best work boot money can buy. They are nothing less then an investment. zero break in period. I’ve had 15+ pairs of these I usually go through 2 pairs a year I work with concrete I never oil or take care of them though so if you did take care you’d probally get better life out of them. As long as timberland keeps making these boots you couldn’t pay me to wear another boot.

My problem is an 8.5 boot size is slightly too small for my foot arch and a 9 is slightly too big with heel play.

Great review, I learned about shoe care while working at a country club where we did shoe shine. I recently found and bought some vintage orginal military boots from the 80's and the first thing I did was use Bick 4 to make sure the leather hadn't dried out over the decades. After watching your video, I think I'll stick with it as it doesn't darken, seems less messy to apply, and doesn't seem to leave much residue a few days later

Timberland polishes the leather with a wax spray which makes is water resistant, using soap to clean will take off that waterproof coat, wax spraying your shoe will keep their water resistance till they last

Soak your feet in apple cider vinegar for 30 minutes. It will eat away at the fungus . Then rinse with water. Make sure to dry your feet good and dry between the toes. Soak your feet in apple cider vinegar every other day until you see results. Don't put lotion between your toes.
