I could be wrong, but isn’t the texture of the leather on a wing shooter due to the wax impregnating for waterproofing, which is the unique feature of Wingshooter hunting boots. Let’s keep in mind that wingshooters are hunting boots…not work boots. If they were work boots; well, then they would be 10877s or 877s or similar. Ashby’s are a Irish Setter styled work boot. They seem like a nice boot, though I have never tried them on. And I have run across a lot of welders in particular, that where Wingshooters because of cold environments they work in since you can get Wingshooters insulated and they come with more lining than the basic redwing 10877s or a likeness thereof.
They have both wingshooter hunting boots and work boots. The sole is different on the hunting pair. Which I actually like and am thinking about grabbing. I originally got the brunt marins but just returned them and planned to get a pair or ashbys but we'll see after some more research

Got the ashbys and I think they’re pretty good. I work as a sheet metal worker in particular sheet metal roofing and that means I’m handling 10’ sheets of sharp metal working at a very rapid pace. The boots are holding up and protecting my feet when I hit them while flipping the sheet on a bend.
Thanks for doing this video. I just returned a pair of brunt marins and plan to grab a pair or irish setter ashbys once I get my refund. The marins were comfortable but too clunky and had a very strong chemical smell. Ashbys will be much better
I’ve had both boots never had one issue quality wise but if I’m being honest Wingshooter is a really warm shoe compared to Ashby I’ve had both numerous times and sometimes I swap to Ashby and it feels like my feet breathe again lol

I love the ashbys over the wingshooters honestly. more comfort and they last just as long also if you mink oil them it waterproofs them.
Thank you for THIS comparison!I
