I had absolutely the same impression of Sa Pa. The city itself in my opinion is not really worth it to visit. "The hunting" was wayyy to much for me. But the countryside around, trekking, staying in a homestay on the other hand is an amazing experience.

I just did the Ha Giang Loop beginning of April, watching your Videos is like a Flashback. I would def. go again and can totally agree with u! One of the best views I´ve ever saw in my life so far! Absolutely insane!

You'd have breezed 2 days on a $100 10-15 years ago, but unfortunately these las natural frontiers get discovered and consequently rise in price. The best example is the once stunningly, beautiful island of Palawan in The Philippines. When I was there in January 2001 there was only about 55-60 places of accommodation on the entire island. Ranging in price from $1.50-$70 per night.That's now tenfolded along with exclusive resorts that are basically for multimillionaires and beyond. With a price tag of $3000 a night! To think I could have a beach hut 10 yards away from the water for $10, eat for $1.50 and drink a bottle of San Miguel pilsner for 30 cents is totally flabbergasting. I've only used US$ for clarification, as opposed to GB£ because I'm from The UK.

In the early 90's my Thai girlfriend's family collected all the garbage trash in a large 'longtail boat'. They lived opposite Koh Phan Yee. I often helped them after all the tourists had gone . Early evening and we would load all the stinking sacks full of seafood parts and plastics. We went to a carefully hidden disposal incinerator somewhere behind a nearby island! We unloaded the sacks for the later burning. I often see the pictures of this place and I'm sure people would never realize what happens to the trash created there! I'm amazed I did that! Good vlog!

It's about the journey, mate.

One of the most magical nights of my life was spent having dinner there last December. We had done an afternoon boat tour and arrived at 5:30 to have dinner. We were the only tourists on the island and was able to listen to the calling to prayer which I filmed and sent to a Muslim friend who now wants to take his family.

I would like to see you one day row a small boat or a kayak from Chaingmai to Bangkok in the Ping and Chaophaya river.
