The 12.3" Android unit does not allow to customize steering wheel controls, as it is an FYT 7862 unit using CanBus. All steering wheel controls are hence hard coded. Looks like I’m joining the club! My ‘15 Macan S took a wee this morning. Bottom dollar bet that this is the problem. Refilled expansion tank, fine at idle, but temp up and leaks post short test drive. Great video and thank you! Two questions: 1. Did you leave the original T there (along with old tubing thru engine)? 2. Can you provide any info on that zip tie / clamp that you used to secure new hose? Thank you (all) again. I’ll be further investigating tomorrow and will do this “upgrade” even if it’s not the source of the leek. Best, Rob

      The original “T” needs to be cut as you saw in the video but the rest of the tubing can be left in place. For the clamps, contact me direct at porschepcm31@gmail.com or in Macan forum (SANTIRX). Thanks for watching and subscribe to the channel!

    Santrix, my coolant relief hose finally blew up while I was driving to work. I have seen your videos on the modification but have just failed to get to it. Well last night I got all the hoses and clamps and successfully bypassed the original location. but this morning when I start up the car, there is no hot air and the engine is overheating! I do not see any leaks and the water pump and thermostat was working fine before the relief hose blew? Could it be that the hose failure has caused a cascading effect that has now ruined by thermostat/water pump? I also don't have a coolant fill vacuum like you so I just filled the reservoir with coolant, could this be cause by an air in the system?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You need to properly fill cooling system. Fill reservoir, and while car is coming to temperature, you need to actuate the vent valve to let the air out. You actuate the vent valve by lifting the metal handle on the valve. As you do that, you probably will see reservoir level go down and you need to refill. This will take some time until your system is finally free of air. I’ll do a short video on this and post it tonight. You probably have a lot of air ingested in the system. Once you get a pocket of air in the pump, it will starve the pump and coolant will stop flowing.

    • @pandabmw
      @pandabmw 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Okay, I have ordered you coolant purge kit from Amazon. A video on how to properly use this would be great! Thank you so much for all that you do for the Macan community! I’m also going to prepare myself for a waterpump and thermostat replacement. With 90,000miles, I know it’s just a matter of time.

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@pandabmw Sorry, I didn’t mean for you to buy the vacuum fill system. I meant you could still purge system using the vent valve. You turn car on (open the reservoir a bit, not completely), let car get to temperature and actuate vent valve by lifting the wire on vent valve. That will release air. If you still want to fill using vacuum, then you need to empty the coolant completely and fill using vacuum system. Starting at minute 38:12 of the following video: Coolant Pump Failure! How did you change the bootup logo?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Copy the BMP format boot logo I put in the link in video description into a thumb drive (thumb drive needs to be less than 32GB and formatted to FAT32). Once you do that, place thumb drive into data USB port of unit. Then, go to settings - car infotainment - about device. Then hit the gear symbol near the first line and enter 8888 as code. You’ll see a menu there, one that says Boot Logo. Press that and then you will see the screen with different options. On the left you’ll see the USB, press that, that will bring the logo in thumb drive. Select and save. You will need to reboot. Hopefully this helps. Subscribe to the channel!

      Do you have Bose or base system? If you connect direct using RCA cables and connections, there is a possibility that you are introducing ground interference. This is very difficult to address… I would recommend to do a search on how to resolve ground interference in audio systems. If your system is Bose, you may still be introducing ground interference if a connection is not well made or if there is contact of RCA metal parts with other metal parts… I would tape over all audio connections with electrical tape. I just installed a new screen in my Porsche Macan. I bought and installed the MOPC-1 box that you recommend. But, I only have two front speakers that I can hear (effectively). All of them are active. If I try to "zone" to bias the sound toward the back of the car, when I pass the halfway point (behind my seat), the sound goes dead completely. Have you run across this issue before?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching! So, only two speakers are working? This unit produces stereo audio. This means that stereo audio will go to your speakers (L/R) only. All speakers (including rear) will produce that same L/R sound. Fading is not possible, hence you need to keep the fader in the center or to the front. Audio should come out at same output through all speakers front and rear. This is a disadvantage for these units when compared with PCM3.1 or 4.0. Thanks for your support and subscribe to the channel!

When you turn on the "Surround Sound" feature - the sound comes alive for the entire car and you can bias to the right rear, left rear, etc. So - they had the ability to do that several years ago and have stopped. I can't imagine how that helps their sales.

Well, the dash in the front area of the passenger IMO is wasted……just decorative. Why not add a screen, after all, this is optionable on all Macan, Cayenne, etc, moving forward, get over it. Screen 2 is for PASSENGER use. As you can see in the pictures you can keep them busy with Live TV, Netflix, Games, whatever you want including side loaded .APK. Did you confirmed that the noise is coming from the cardan drive shaft bearing? It turns out my noise was coming from the differential front bearing, not the drive shaft support bearing. The shaft replacement is not bad. The only part that may be difficult is detaching the differential flange, because it tends to fuse in place. I detail a procedure on how to un- fuse it in my video. Otherwise it can be done even without removing the exhaust as you saw in my video. Let us know how it goes. I still need to edit and publish my differential replacement video… thanks for watching and subscribe!

      @@victoro6310 I guess you can use either or. I also got braided stainless steel lines from Flat6 and will be doing a full brake service this week as well. I may use the ABS bleed procedure this time. I have used the Schwaben pump for a few flushes with no issues.

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ If you are only doing the braided line installation, there is no need for OBD computer. I did end up installing mine as part as a whole brake replacement and everything went well. My only recommendation, put a lot of rags around the area of the lines you are removing because it will start to drip. The brake oil is corrosive to paint, so if anything gets into a painted area (like sway bar or caliper, clean immediately). I had rags all over those areas. It is pretty straight forward. Start at the far end away from caliper, then remove from caliper… installation in reverse. Then you need to bleed the brakes. For that you will need something like a schwaben kit, of an OBD2 scanner to have the brakes bled. I was intending on using OBD2, but didn’t have time in the end and went with the schwaben kit which I have used before and I know it works. Everything is working perfectly for me.

    • @victoro6310
      @victoro6310 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@porscheDIY Yeah that's what I did. I used schwaben pressure also and only used pretty much exactly just 1L of fluid to do the car. Sprayed a lot of rubbing alcohol to get rid of the fluid that came leaking and a lot of wiping. No OBD was used. Seems ok. I've not tested if the ABS is still working. I also didn't forget to lock the air suspension. I didn't know how much to tighten the new lines coz it's a bit worrisome since it's the part that's making the car stop. I made sure it's not loose.

      @@skeeterjeep145 To be fair, my Macan S base price was $58K in 2014. It jumped to $68K with all the options I specified. The Macan shares suspension components with Audi, so most, if not all of these suspension components can also be found in Audi Q5 and even the Lamborghini Urus… exact same. They are still used in more modern Macan generations. Also, I found only one bushing in dire need of replacement. All others were relatively OK, but I still decided to replace everything. In addition, a factor that may have accelerated bushing degradation is that I lowered my Macan by 30mm and didn’t losen and retorqued bushings at new height. So bushings were probably stressed for a long time due to this… leading to this specific bushing premature failure. Thanks for watching and subscribe to the channel!

    I've seen the vent tube hoses priced between $175 from u.s. sellers all the way down to $17.00 from China. They look the same do you think the eBay Chinese vent tubes are adequate for the same modifications using the silicone method as you employed?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The fittings I used when I made video as you probably saw belonged to a OEM Porsche part tubing. Later, I got a chinese knock off just to get fitting dimensions so that we can make a 3D design and eventually make an aluminum fitting (which is ongoing). Honestly, the chinese knock off tubing felt softer (not rigid), even the fittings felt different. So, for sure a different material. Whether is better or worse, I don’t know. Only way to know if chinese is at par or better than OEM is to subject it to same stresses as OEM and see what happens. If it was me doing this again, I would go OEM just because fittings seem to last longer than tubing itself and is the known material in my view. Would not risk this for a $150 price difference.
