Coolant Pump Failure! Replacing the coolant pump and thermostat in a 2015 Porsche Macan S / Turbo

In this video, I share my experience replacing the coolant pump and thermostat of my 2015 Porsche Macan S. I accomplish this replacement without having to place the Macan in service mode. Finally, I figured it out! I modified the Diamond Button SW Control for my FYT 12.3 Android unit
มุมมอง 1K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
The 12.3" Android unit does not allow to customize steering wheel controls, as it is an FYT 7862 unit using CanBus. All steering wheel controls are hence hard coded. But there is a way to intercept this signal using 3rd party developed middleware and make it do something else in the unit. In this video, I detailed the instructions on how to do this using the FytHWOneKey.apk app. Relevant Links:...

@@ronytv9904 you need to create a boot logo that is 1240x700 natively. The one I linked is not going to work. So you use the procedure I used either for logo or animation to create your own, making sure the appropriate resolution (1240x700) is used. Thanks for watching and subscribe to the channel!
I ended up purchasing this unit for my 2018 Porsche Macan and overall the installation went well. I noticed that there has been a couple of times now that when I would get into the car there would be no sound and then if I shut the car off and then restart again which of course reboots the screens the sound will suddenly work. Have you experienced anything like this?
I have the dual screen installed in my 2015 Macan S. I have not experienced this yet. At cold start I let my engine idle down before driving. During this period I let the unit boot up fully so that I can open the Torque Pro app
I'm always looking out for new videos from you, you have helped me out so much with my macan turbo to do DIYs. I cant thank you enough.

Great as usual! Based on your experience, is it better to install this dual-screen unit or the 12.3-inch one?
It all depends on what you want. Some of the guys going for it want to have dual display to be able to run CarPlay at same time they have an app like Torque displaying car parameters on the other. Some others just want to give passenger ability to watch movies, etc. In my specific case, I still have the 12.3" unit in my car and giving serious thoughts to get a dual display, but haven't made my decision yet. I'm very happy with the 12.3" unit though. You can also get the 12.3" with discount code (MACAN123) from ACAR. Thanks for watching and subscribe to the channel!

No videos of how the adapter is made?
@@drrckhamilton I think I got only part of this process in video, but still unedited. Will try to finish this and publish later. I have looked at several of your videos on audio/ PCM upgrades. As of 11/30/2024 what would you recommend being the best most cost effective option for my newly acquired 2014 Cayenne GTS with a Bose Surround system? Would like car play as well as better audio control other then just bass and treble. While retaining as much of the original PCM features. Thank you.
Based on your requirements, the best solution to me would be Mr12Volt, if you are looking at retaining the best audio quality. If audio quality is not an issue for you, and you would be content with analog to digital conversion, then Isudar is also a good and cheap option. I always wanted to preserve audio quality, hence why I went with Mr12Volt (after owning Joye and Isudar). Thanks for watching and subscribe to the channel!
Great video. Almost makes me think I can do it myself.
Of course you can do this. I know of one person, over 70 years-old with little experience installing these, who just installed one in his Macan yesterday during Thanksgiving… and did it alone. He watched my video a couple of times, asked me a couple of questions, and off he went… So, if he did it, I’m sure you can too. Thanks for watching, and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t done so yet!
If you filled pump with 500ml, some of the fluid got left in the hose and didnt make it all the way into the transfer case right?
@@kiefbox4908 theoretically, when you fill the syringe at 500ml, the tubing is filled with oil. So the content of the tubing already accounts for that difference, hence you will be putting 500ml into the transfer case. Thanks for watching and subscribe to the channel!
prior to filling with nitrogen, how do you remove as much air as possible from the system?

What LAUNCH tool do you recommend to code these exact options on a 2017 911?
I’m not sure if you can in a 911. I also belong to the 718 forum community (as you know I have a 718), and I asked some folks to try this in their non-sport+ 718 (since mine has sport+), and they could not add this. It seems this is a loophole in the Macan only. However, you can code many other things in the 911 using a Launch X431. This is the one I have: a.co/d/8P5K9FB You can get a cheaper version. As long as it has ECU coding capability, you’ll be fine. Thanks for watching and subscribe to the channel!

Do you know if I can add Sport Plus to my 2014 Cayenne GTS? I do have sport mode but would also like the Sport Plus option. Thank you

do you know the name of the male pins on the quad connector? I'm trying to keep this neat with connecting the mic to the other side of the quad so I don't interfeer with the OEM wires, but the quad is missing the pins on those positions.
The new Mr12Volt doesn’t require the hack. OEM mic should work out of the box. Did you buy recently?
@@porscheDIY no I have an old one, just trying to hack it to work. I know which pins I need to use from the quadlock, but the connector that came with it only had pins on the used slots so I don't have any spare pins and I don't know what size they are. they look like dupont 2.54 but look a bit different
@@MrNunoVaz in mine, I already had pins there. I just had to tap into them… unfortunately I don’t know the type of pins you would use. Maybe get a full quad connector from AliExpress and scavenge some from that (they are inexpensive). Pins are easy to take out, but you need a de-pinning tool with a single small blade (maybe from Amazon)… That’s what I can offer. Sorry… and thanks for watching.
Did you get rid of the whining noise after the replacement ?
@@healthimpactmodeling3096 No. the high pitch noise was actually the differential. When I was installing the differential inserts (which I ended up removing because increased NVH), I loosened the differential without removing e-brake…. Big mistake. I think that the differential suffered. It was still good, but I found one cheap with 30K miles in eBay and replaced it. High pitch noise gone.
I'm finally at the last step of getting ready to roll the rear subframe under the car. I really like how you provided the torque spec diagrams. My BIG gotcha is with the air suspension. I don't have Pwis or Nitrogen. How do you have Pwis? I suppose I will have to lower the car without air and try to get it to dealership for alignment and air suspension.
Do not drive it without air. If you need to get it to dealer you will need to tow the car on a platform truck to dealer. I do have access to PIWIS and nitrogen, you will also need an adapter hose that can connect to N2 cylinder to the front strut tubing. Contact me directly at porschepcm31@gmail.com and I’ll provide more information related to PIWIS.
Is it possible to split audio between screens? Meaning …can the driver listen to music while the passenger is watching a movie with Bluetooth headphones?
I’m not sure. What I heard is that is not possible at least for now, but we are checking with ACARDash.
To understand it well - the pipe which is under intake manifold is going straight to rear of engine just only to turn in turn around to right side of engine bay? Nice.

Another great video, thank you! What tool did you use for tuning the car? Looks like an ipad?
Thanks for your kind words. I used REW in a Microsoft Surface laptop. You can use Mac as well. I used a calibrated mic I got from Parts Express with a calibration file that I loaded into REW. I entered the values for the Harman reference curve. REW is free to download. When doing the tuning, I use an uncorrelated pink noise as a source which is played through the system and captured by the microphone. I move the microphone at ear level from left to right to left and so forth until I get a good average. Then adjust frequencies in the unit to try to match the reference curve. Let me know if you want to know more.
Excellent! I have 2013 Cayenne. How would I determine the size of the tap plug for my vehicle? Thanks again!!
I’m not sure about the Cayenne. I would start by measuring the diameter “X”, the distance between threads “Y” and then the length of the plug “Z”. The size is given then in the form of MX x Y x Z… for example M12x1.5x15. This means the plug is 12mm diameter, the thread distance is 1.5mm and plug length is 15mm. Please confirm, I’m writing this from memory. Some of these plugs may follow NPT pipe measurement convention. In example, 3/8” NPT… My recommendation, search it in internet and follow recommendations from experts. Or maybe do a search in FCPEuro for your specific transfer case, if they have it, sometimes they list the size.
WOW !do all the functionality’s of the car still work? Great job
@@WilliamvanNunen A lot of the functionality is retained due in part to the CanBus decoder. For example, you have the ability to lower and increase volume using steering wheel, including muting. Also you can control functions in your car using a specific menu, which allows you to set some options that you would normally access via MFD or PCM. Rear view camera works, as you saw in the video, etc…. Since you can’t connect LVDS cable, you lose the connectivity between the unit and the MFD, meaning that you can’t see the map in MFD anymore, etc…. But these are things that I never used.
Awesome vid!! Definitely purchasing this in the near future. I noticed you mentioned in the vid you had tuned the sound to Harmon and sound really good. How did you do that? Is there a video on how to tune the sound? I have a 2016 Macan S.

cpmpatible with the pcm 4.0 no problem.
Having seen this in person…….this one of those upgrades that is transformational. The car inside looks completely different. The leather, available in red and beige also is great quality and near perfect match. The unit boots fast and is snappy. Swapping the screens around is a trip ! CarPlay auto connects every time, reliably. The audio is better now than stock Bose because of the EQ and ability to customize. I can’t find any faults, but OEM microphone integration would be terrific and this has been relayed to ACARDASH. Buying Androids off of Ali is frought with challenges, return, refund and support, we have all been there !, This does NOT exist here. You can buy with PayPal. The support for the device is proven, we used it….and continue too, even free towels, they care. This dual screen from ACAR makes my 12.3 FYt look …...dated……oh well, time to upgrade.
So I originally had a sound issue after installing the dual screens in my 2018 Porsche Macan. The sound started to work after a restart but today the screen closest to the driver went black and so I restarted the car and I heard an electrical noise and tiny smoke came from bottom of screen and now the screen is messed. Based on the acardash site I'll have to pay for the shipping back to get the screen exchanged. Hopefully Milo is easy going and all goes smoothly.
Thank you so much, I own a 2018 and this is very appealing. Does the unit retain any of the vehicle specific screens that show vehicle status, mpg etc?
It doesn’t retain specific PCM screens, however, there are alternative ways to get ECU information in these type of screens using OBD2 dongles with appropriate App. With these type of apps you actually get even more information in these screens than what you can get in PCM. You can partially see some of this information when I’m showing how to scroll app from one screen to the other. You can also change vehicle settings from the unit, thanks to the CanBus interface. Thanks for watching and I hope you are subscribed to the channel!
What an awesome video , it’s easier to install than the FYT for sure. The dual screens have great contrast and a snappy processor. Have to have this !
