Wow… it has not been my experience. Once I lower the green lever arm, I have to rotate the axle so that the axle bolts don’t interfere, but I always manage to take it out without having to remove the axle. You need to be able to freely rotate the wheel/axle because if one of the bolts is at the very top, you won’t be able to take it out. So, I always lift the car in Neutral with parking brake off and that allows me to rotate the wheel/axle.
