    @Santirx - I want to thank you for your amazing videos. I would not have been able to install a similar 12.3 unit in my Panamera without all the guidance and advice you give in your videos. I have used all your videos as my installation guide and everything went so smoothly. Everything worked first time and I was relieved and surprised! I am new to this sort of thing and your videos inspired me to have a go, and I am so pleased that I did. My car is now more functional than OEM and looks better too! Great job - thank you.

    Great video. I have a Macan and would like to do this upgrade. Can you tell me if the reverse senors and rear view camera still work on these units?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rear view camera works well. Now, the proximity sensors will still work, you’ll hear the sound as you get closer to an object. The radar display will only show up when you are in reverse and not when you are driving forward. You still hear the warning though. Thanks for watching.

    Great video! Clear instructions. My question is… how are you, or better worded. What microphone are you using for the Bluetooth connection.

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks for your kind words. I don’t understand your first question, is it associated to the second question? On your second question, the system either connects to OEM or has its own mic. I think it has its own mic and it works well. There is no need to install a separate mic.

    Nice work! Looks like a nice upgrade. Will you do another video on the UI/interface of the unit?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Coming soon…. Then I’ll do another one comparing the 2 12.3” units when I receive second one. Then a full review if that other unit with UI/Interface review. And some tricks of the trade I have found in hidden menus to make the whole experience more OEM like…. Stay tuned.

    Santrix,En la Macan S, recomiendas el motor 3.0 turbo de porsche?( 2015-2018) o el single turbo de audi ( 2019 en adelante) ya ves que dicen de la HPFP que hay fuga de gasolina que puede danar el motor

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yo creo que los dos motores tienen sus issues. Personalmente me gusta el 3.0 Porsche primera generacion manufacturable por Porsche. El issue mayor es el likes de aceite por la covertura de la cadena de tiempo, pero tiered arreglo facil. El motor es confiable. Pero tampoco he escuchado muchos issues del motor segunda generacion. Gracias por tu apoyo y espero que estes subscrito al canal. Gracias!

    Excellent video! Waiting for this very long time. Did you find that you loose quality of sound on the speakers? It happened to me with other aftermarket radios

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Originally, yes. It all depends on the quality of the converter. With this specific unit, they sent an optical Toslink to MOST25 converter and quality was fine but not great (considering I have a full aftermarket system - close to audiophile quality). So, audio quality was key for me. I then connected optical Toslink fiber directly to my aftermarket amplifier (something you can’t do if you have Bose or Burmester - you need the converter box for that) and audio improved considerably. So, there is something to say about the converter quality.
      When I installed the next unit (DaiNav Class) portrayed in later videos in my channel, it didn’t come with the optical Toslink output originally. The converter they provided with the unit was analog to MOST25 conversion and it was crap. Audio degradation was very noticeable. I then bought a different converter with very nice reviews in Amazon, and that made a whole lot of difference. Even with its analog to MOST25 conversion, the quality of audio was superior to the optical Toslink to MOST25 box converter.
      After some negotiation with DaiNav, they sent me the optical Toslink board which I installed in the unit and I connected optical Toslink directly to my aftermarket amplifier. Audio quality improved but I have to say it was very similar in quality as with the latest Analog to MODT25 converter I got.
      As far as comparison with PCM3.1 full digital, with this latest configuration (either the latest analog to MOST25 converter box or direct Toslink connection) I don’t feel I’m losing anything with audio quality. And I even venture to say, there are gains. You gain a full equalization module with very nice features (rather than the bass and treble).
      If you like Bose surround, you don’t have that with the new unit, although you have a different module to achieve surround. But, if you like Bose surround, you can activate it before you remove PCM and it will stay on, as this is activated at the amplifier. But once is on, you will not be able to turn it off unless you reinstall PCM. I don’t like the Bose gimmicks, so they were all turned off when I removed my PCM.
      Hope this helps.

    Hi. Thanks for the video. How do you find the gloss black of the unit where the new vents are against the Matt black of the centre control trim. Thanks in advance.

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not as bad as it looks. Honestly the fact that the vents are so small is really the issue.

      I purchased mine in AliExpress. Just use their search field and write “12.3 android unit for Porsche Macan”. It will bring many options. Then, communicate with the seller to ensure compatibility with your Macan model year and type of audio system you have.

    hello, I want to ask you because I saw in one of you videos that you have an Porsche software for updating and installing of modules. I installed an chrono watch on my Porsche macaw but is not working. Do you know anything about it how can I code or how can I download any software that you use for downloading. thnx a lot

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Did you have a clock before and swapped it with a Chrono Watch? In what way is not working? Is it not turning on? Or is it turning on and you just can’t use it as Chronograph?
      If you had a clock before, swapping to a chrono watch should work at least as a clock. To add chrono option, you need to code it. You can for it using a Launch X431 or Otofix/Autel with ECU coding capabilities which you can buy at Amazon. I don’t remember right now how I did mine (as I did the same) but I’ll post instructions here sometime this week.

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KaloshiLizi did you connect it to the PCM? If you didn’t have a clock and now you are adding one, you need to wire the clock and tap into certain specific wires in the rear of PCM. Did you do that?

    Thanks for video. So the backup camera works fine? Also how’s the air flow compared to the original setup?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The backup camera and radar works fine. The airflow with this specific unit is severely reduced. With the other unit I installed (which is linked in the description), it has larger vents and flow is similar to OEM.

    Can you do it for pcm 4.0 macan 2017+?

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. Just let the vendor know that you will be replacing PCM4.0. You will need a different optical conversion box, I think that would be the only difference. Thanks for watching and subscribe!

    Does this unit replace the factory pcm mine keeps resetting and trying to find another option

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. Your PCM may have a faulty hard drive. When I had my PCM installed I made a hard drive backup and replace it with an SSD to avoid the issues you are experiencing. But to your question, yes, you should be OK with a unit like this one as a replacement to your failing PCM. Thanks for watching BTW.

    Hey quick question how is the ac? I see that you lose 2 vents. It’s hot where I live so not sure if I should do this or not

    • @porscheDIY
      @porscheDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don’t lose vents. They are rerouted to the bottom of the unit where the CD used to be. If you watch the installation video you’ll see this. However, the video you are pointing out here is for the first unit I installed which I ended up returning. This unit has very small restricted vents. The new unit I got has a more OEM feel, it intercept air duct behind the existing ducts and vents are more functional and bigger. You will have almost same air flow from this new unit… also rerouted to bottom of unit where the Cd would be.

    Mr Raul I have this unit that I bought many months ago and did not return. My issue is the back up camera won't work. Do you have any input? the signal is coming from the car and when plugged into that connector and put in reverse it does not show the image. tried to play with the settings but im sure im missing something.. also when I use the turn signal the radio screen changes to display that side image (if there was side view cameras) how do I disable that? and lastly the USB will charge the phone but will not work for CarPlay. CarPlay will only work via wireless. Any input is appreciated!

      Thanks for watching. Not sure what to do with your comment… is one of those things… to each their own. But I didn’t have this specific unit in my Macan for long. If you watch subsequent videos you’ll see I installed a unit that resembles PCM5.0 much better. So much so that when my wife and I went to a Porsche dealer to test drive a 911, we also looked at a 2023 Macan and she said that the unit looked like mine. It modernized the cabin… so much so that I don’t feel the immediate need to go and trade my Macan to improve the interior tech…. Hey, thanks for watching and for your support!
