The lights can be operated by using a remote. Best part, you don’t have to worry about purchasing a real tree every year.

Trev's old frame - have you tried making moulds of the decoration bits and use those to make new infills for the missing bits - Then reguild the lot. Love Harold's frame - he looks very "dom". I get the pair thing. Years ago i found a Chelsea figure, then quite by accident found its mate 10 years later. I'm sure they look happier together.

Watching channels like this I often wonder if the enthusiasm displayed on camera is authentic or simply for show. With these young men I believe it is authentic which is very heartening. I up-cycled a mirror this year that was in a similar state to your frame and I too removed the last few bits of ‘edging’, smoothed the rest of the section with wood filler, sanded that area then used Rub’n’Buff gold paint/polish to match it all again. It looked wonderful once finished - the mirror was a charity shop find at £2. 💚🧡

Also, you can repair the frame with clay, make imprints with small tools to match it up as best you can and use a rub and buff type product to match the frame colour x

I always prefer a real tree, but about 11 years ago was persuaded by my husband to buy an artificial one from John Lewis which looks quite good (but wish it had lights wired in). Last year I placed this tree in my dining room, and bought a small real tree for my living room, which sat on a table and looked lovely, without taking up too much room. Your home always looks so warm and cosy, and you both work so well together

My wreaths are big as well, the bigger the better 😂. My mom makes them for me, she has a garden full of materials. My Christmas decorations aren’t ‘allowed’ before 6 December (Sinterklaas) but as soon as that holiday is over I go in overdrive. Decorations stay until Twelfth Day (Epiphany). This year I plan on a decoration of the tree with snow owls and my great-grandmother’s glass bulbs. I have a fake tree (but very realistic, it was a small fortune) because my dog would absolutely trash a real one.

Absolutely lovely wreath! I’m about three weeks behind on your videos, so you’ve probably made a Christmas wreath by now! I love the artwork, and I’m so glad you kept the husband and wife together-she deserves her place beside her husband!! I would use one of those kits where you recreate missing trim pieces for your frame, or you might be able to buy that exact piece of moulding piece and glue to the frame. Then you could diy a gold leaf finish. Just an idea. 🤔
As a history student I think it would be a shame to remove the trim from Trevor’s frame, because it would strip away some of its value as a witness of the original period’s artistry. Maybe you could touch up the gold on both the trim and the bare patches to give it a more uniform colour and make the difference less noticeable?

My wreaths are big as well, the bigger the better 😂. My mom makes them for me, she has a garden full of materials. My Christmas decorations aren’t ‘allowed’ before 6 December (Sinterklaas) but as soon as that holiday is over I go in overdrive. Decorations stay until Twelfth Day (Epiphany). This year I plan on a decoration of the tree with snow owls and my great-grandmother’s glass bulbs. I have a fake tree (but very realistic, it was a small fortune) because my dog would absolutely trash a real one.

You hang the smaller baubles at the top of the tree and grade the size of the baubles as you go down.

I do make my own wreaths for the doors and windows outside, with what l can forage and what l pickup from the farmers market just down the road, they have a great selection of greenery. Beautiful portraits and also Christmas bubble's, everything looks really lovely.

Absolutely lovely wreath! I’m about three weeks behind on your videos, so you’ve probably made a Christmas wreath by now! I love the artwork, and I’m so glad you kept the husband and wife together-she deserves her place beside her husband!! I would use one of those kits where you recreate missing trim pieces for your frame, or you might be able to buy that exact piece of moulding piece and glue to the frame. Then you could diy a gold leaf finish. Just an idea. 🤔
As a history student I think it would be a shame to remove the trim from Trevor’s frame, because it would strip away some of its value as a witness of the original period’s artistry. Maybe you could touch up the gold on both the trim and the bare patches to give it a more uniform colour and make the difference less noticeable?
I agree, I’m not going to remove it. If anything I might try and replicate it by using some sort of moulding putty!

I love big wreaths. The ones you buy are small and expensive here in the states. I have slim and full trees depending on the space. I prefer the mirror where you had it.

Ash the portraits of the Victoriancouple are charming but you might want to swap them around. They were designed to 'face' each other - at the moment you have them facing apart. Just a suggestion. :-)
I think Aunt Willimena ought to be in the guest bedroom and you can then get one of those wooden or brass signs for the door 'The Wiillimena Room's or some such other un printable derivative!!!😮
