Thanks for checking out my channel.
I am in no way an expert on this hobby. As a matter of fact I’m very new to it, started in the summer of 2021. Join me in my journey of what to do and probably more often what not to do when it comes to building my layout and repairing my trains and accessories
I’m not one of these guys that has tons of money to throw at my hobby and you’ll see that I do things as least expensive as possible.
I’m always open for your suggestions and comments
Hopefully you’ll find this channel entertaining and maybe even at some point informative

I love it!!! Now we need to work on those streets. I've got a technique that you can make your own asphalt that looks super real.
Planning on redoing that entire section of the layout in the fall. I don’t want any permanent streets until then because it will be a major change
@@Pvilletrains that makes perfect sense.
Looks awesome! 🎉
Where did you get the green terminal? Thanks
Amazon
Great job 👍
My guess is the what you paid is probably about right just for the American Flyer cars and transformer.
I was there as well. There was not much O gauge stuff. I saw mostly smaller scales. I got there around 11:30 and the inside of that building was like a sauna.
I got in early and left about the time you arrived and yes it was kinda uncomfortable in there. I felt sorry for the vendors that didn’t have fans close to them.
@Pvilletrains I believe I saw you leaving, but I didn't want to bother you. Thank- you for letting me know about this event. Galesburg did a nice job with this town wide event.
You should have stopped me. I really enjoy meeting my viewers and chatting about their collections.
Those bi levels are a wood kit for sure. Very interesting find. I am a big Williams fan I have tons of their locos they are such a good value. I like the pair idea I do the same type of matchups when I find another for a good price all the time. Geared the same, paint matches.
Great video. You can see me and the family at the 12:10 mark on the far wall. I'm the big grey thing there.
Very nice! That is a fine haul. The Marx will probably not take too much to get them working properly. It would be nice to put those C&NW bi-level cars behind an E8. An excellent video, as always.
Nice haul and video! 💯
Really nice American Flyer Trains. And the Marx. Enjoy and thanks for sharing. Cbtrainnut
Marx guy here, as I see it, one Marx 999 at $35.00 and eight cars at $5.00 each at $40.00. A good deal for $75.00 total. While at the show, record some time digging in the junk boxes under the table.
The 3 A.F. Car are at least $15-$20 ea. I have no idea how much the HO stuff goes for. Looking forward to seeing what kind of deals I’ll find next week at the Galesburg train show.
Nice haul on the American flyer. I hope to see you at Knox college for the train show
The plan is to be there Saturday morning for a couple hours, but if the Mrs decides to go we’ll go on Sunday. There’s a ton of stuff to do In Galesburg that weekend
@@Pvilletrains yeah I want to check out the Depot in town there. Plus it's only about an hour drive for me.
About an hour from my work location ( Sterling/Rock Falls) but 2 1/2 if I come from home.
Another great find. Thanks for sharing your find with all. GMan
They may be a type of locking key
Nice haul. It’s always interesting to see what comes out of these lots on the internet.
That is a nice haul, for sure. Now and then, you have to pay a bit more for something that you really want. That is some nice Marx equipment. I don't know much about American Flyer, especially their pre-war O gauge. Plenty of people would like that HO stuff. It looks like it would be a good starter set for someone. A good deal, all the way around. An excellent video, as always.
That's a british o scale model. It's a brakemans car. Change te wheels and run it.
I also live in Illinois. I have looked around the internet, but I have not been able to find a good list of when train shows are in the state. Do you know of any listing of all train shows in Illinois? Thank-you.
There’s one in Galesburg next weekend Saturday and Sunday. I think the dates are the 28th and 29th. I’m planning on going to that one. I’m just not sure which day it’s held at the Knox College Saturday is 10 AM to 4 PM Sunday is 10 AM to 2 PM. There’s also one in Springfield in the fall. I can’t remember if they took October or November.
Thank- you
What gauge wire are you using?
That video was from my old layout, and if I remember correctly, it was 18 gauge. Since then, I built a new layout and I use 14 gauge to my track and 16 to the accessories. But also my new layout is tubular track and not fast track. Thanks for watching
Nice acquisition, PaPa! The AF 355 Baldwin diesel loco has a rear screw hole crack, VERY common. The 290 Steam Loco has a tin tender, fastened to the chassis by four metal tabs that some/all are twisted off. Both locos are good runners. You did VERY well! Enjoy! 🚂
enjoyable thanks for support friend please stay connected thank you
All the videos were great! Seeing Adam win that drag made my day.
Cool stuff! I always love hitting the road and having fun!
The wooden car is a nice piece, I likem. I wish the maker had I.D. it. On all my creations, I place a dated label, Plunkerville R/R, and my name. Could that number be 6-7-17?
Nice vet, it sounds great!
What a beautiful locomotive. (And cars). Had no idea they existed. Planning a summer trip to KY. now…Also a fantastic museum/displays in plant city, Fl. Right next to the tracks. Make sure you support them for what they do for all of us.
WAR ZOO!. I want a go home to my little Marx Train work bench. My poor mistreated Commodore calls out to me.
I liked that 1955 Pontiac Green and white station wagon if only it had stock hub caps. Love the 1956 Corvette as well.
In New Hampshire, we have car shows up the WarZoo, but little to no train activity. I`m all WarZooed out, just give me a pail of Marx Train Junk to restore and I`m happy.
It’s a trip my oldest son and I do each year.
That's awesome lots of beautiful cars I remember lot of them from my youth woe seems like such long time ago lol
That dinning car looks like it was used for paintball target practice
What a great find! Thanks for sharing!
I'm happy you discovered this and shared it with us. The summer of 1971 I was employed by the Monon Railroad, in the Monon Shops in Lafayette, Indiana, repairing and servicing the diesel locomotives. That is the summer the Monon merged into the L&N. Somewhere in my old papers I have Monon pay stubs, and one from the L&N. Maybe I serviced this locomotive. If yuo weren't supposed to be there when it is closed, at least there is no video evidence that you were.🤣
As a GM Engineer for nearly 28 years, and working on 4 generations of Corvette, I have to say, thank you for the great video!!!
Maybe you will find some trains
well explained thanks
Can't wait to see the cars 2morrow
Excellent Work……outstanding craftsmanship……. Only a very very small suggestion….how about the dowels that you place on the far side of the track, being placed under the track? If you replace with metal pins instead of wood, you could also use them a s a contact or “power track BREAKER” to stop the loop. No trains fall into or hitting the bridge 😂 Quite frankly….you have taught me a ton…….again OUTSTANDING CRAFTSMANSHIP! Thank you
Yay! Looking forward to those videos!
A lesson - - The bulbs you call post bulbs are really known as bayonet bulbs. You push them into the socket and then you give a little twist. Now you know the correct name for these bulbs.
Yes, I do know that those are called bayonet bulbs. I had a bit of a brain fart when I was making that video. Thanks for watching
When you use a junction block - you can jus strip the insulation off of a short piece of wire then you can just screw the bare wire to the terminals you want all together. No need to use those crimp on spade lugs. Easier and less work and cost.
Sound like you have a big project ahead of you. You really do not need 2 bus lines to the far distant track. The outer rails are the ground and so send th electricity back to the source. You need the center feeder wires only. Save yo a lot of wire to do just the center rail. You use flux when soldering the wires to the track. Flux would also make soldering the tracks together easier.
Great show! Great video! But that American flag on the floor is disrespectful to see! The American flag is never suppose to be placed on the floor. Shame on whoever did that! Totally disrespectful!
She`s a Spicy Meat Ball.
I have wondered why the prewar Flyer gave up three rail and converted to S . Could they have been infringing on someone`s copyrights?
I saw a video somewhere that told the story of why but I can’t remember what it was
Contact- Classic Toy Trains on TH-cam
This video will help you with that 290. I was given a 293 that did not work and got it working wonderfully now. The only difference between the 290 and the 293 is that the 293 has red glow in the smoke stack and a pair of rubber tires on two of the drive wheels. th-cam.com/video/yqKjsGSDhLw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=UNHZBROFsnaZ6j05 I will be happy to get that 290 working in exchange for that Hudson tender.
