Marx guy here, I make my own red lenses from the plastic covers of refrigerated meats, such as Harmel or similar products.

That’s a great idea. I’ll have to do that, cheaper than ordering them.

    Great job, Derek.
I went to Dollar General and bought a red plastic report folder from stationary section. Then i cut out an insert piece for the stack on my Commodore Vanderbilt.
The report cover was less than a buck and I have enough left to make all the inert pieces I'll ever need.

Thank you! And that’s another great idea for those plastic inserts. I’ll be mentioning them in my next video. I love it when people find ways to save money on their trains.

@@Pvilletrains You're welcome . Just trace around the outside edge of the smoke stack cut out the piece and then trim the edges until it fits snugly inside the stack.

Nice video. Marx is so easy to work on and their price is fairly low, still, but climbing. Unless that it is one of their 'rare' items, restoring them is a no-brainer. The paint job is excellent and makes the engine and tender look even better than the original. As far as bending the tabs, there are plastic screwdrivers and small pry-tools available and they won't scratch the paint. I've actually used the plastic 'tire irons' that are for removing the tires from my bike, to bend the tabs. I'll send you some pics of my new layout, which is a 24'x18' L, a bit later. The inside main and industrial loop are up and operating, so I can stage the town and industries and get things just right, before I start the scenery. As always, a fine video.
