Is it impossible to get perfect geometry on a crt? I’ve had 4 CRTs recently, and all have various issues. The most recent and best one has a weird vertical pinch/bowing downward in the top left and bottom left. Do I need convergence strips? It’s a flat screen CRT.

P-O, have you found a way to get around or disable the “BLE” or “Black Level Expansion” function of the I’Art? My 20” and 27” does not have an option in either the User or Service menus. Not to patronize if you’re aware of it, but it’s essentially dynamic contrast with only on the fly adjustments to the black level being made depending on the current frame’s APL. I’m close to just desoldering the pin on the IC that handles the “feature” because otherwise I love both of them, but the dynamic adjustments the sets make to the black level because of it can be annoying depending on the game.

My parents Back in 2013 used to have a samsung tv which it had a blue light under the on and off button. Idk The model of the tv but it was a tv that can be mounted to a wall. and had the same chime as your other two tv's

I have a 27 inch model. Theaters pro mode make the images super dark.

Following the service manual to do a full color calibration on this TV is very difficult because it is not written very well in English, and it does not appear that they actually calibrated or designed these to work exactly at industry standard color temp of 6500K. the service manual literally just says to go by eye to set the color drives. Also the contrast and picture calibration steps are not even possible to follow at all, even with a BRAND NEW TV which mine was. If you follow the steps for brightness and picture to the manual you will overdrive the tube and everything will bloom out of control. also, the calibration also depends on what input you are using. calibrating on component video will result in a very bluish and ugly composite output. i could not get the set to have a consistent picture or color temp across inputs and have settled on just adjusting 'brightness' (higher for component, lower for composite). if you are stuck with a lot of blooming, turning down the 'picture' setting will mitigate the issue. however i'm not sure if it is still doing long term damage to the electron guns doing it that way

Could I make these screen alignment adjustments on a Jvc av27230?

I have a JVC I'Art with broken ABL, the contrast won't increase more than half, it just snaps back down. When it goes from a dark image to a light image, after a quarter of a second the contrast snaps down. I tested all the capacitors with ESR meter and they seem okay. Does it need a new flyback?

I have the 14AF42. The set reminds me of Z reviews talking about the FW900, the way to describe it is like colored milk. Sprite art looks smoothed by the glass picture window you're looking into. The only issue I have with it is that with S-video, the reds are pushed into pinks.

do you think crt monitors are better than crt tvs in term of response time and color accuracy

Great video. I'm trying to mod component through the DTV tuner on my Magnavox CD130MW9. 2 questions. Do you know if the aftermarket remotes will work as a service remote? For example, there is a ne241ud remote on eBay but it's an aftermarket remote. Second question. Is the service menu able to change the input options? For example, when you switch to the "DVD" input, instead of receiving y/c input for the DVD player. You change the input options so that "DVD" is composite or ypbpr. And vice versa "Aux" input can be y/c or the DVD player. Hopefully I made this clear. Thanks

My Samsung flim fit HD CRT is starting to have issues. It was beautiful for a couple months now there are lines flickering up and down the screen. Is this fixable?

My HD Samsung Slimfit has unfortunately begun to have an issue with lines flickering up and down. It's not very noticeable during movement. How easy could this be to fix? I was thinking of just replacing it with another HD CRT or plasma

One thing I'm having a hard time finding about this set and it's older non-component input KV-32XBR45 brother is an accurate weight measurement or specification. Are these any lighter than the flat screen Sonys with the same screen size?

A lot of people don’t know this, but you have a lot of tv models which show VM in the service manual but don’t have it installed. You typically only saw it in larger high end sets 27inch and over. My Sony and Panasonic sets show VM in their respective service manuals but neither have it

I have the JVC i'art 32CF36 with a nice Philips tube inside. It's one of my sharpest and colorful crts in my collection.

My family used to have a Samsung HD CRT that would make those sounds upon startup and shutdown!

I had a Samsung Slim fit HD CRT 27in similar to this, same start up chime. Had 2 HDMIs and all the other inputs great tv. I got a PS3 in 2006 and the TV in 2007. LCD 1080p was very expensive back then and hybrid CRT HD TVs were cheaper and a nice compromise.
