LOL I messed up on the Dynaflat ED part, so I cut out that part of the vid. Thanks to @loganjones4650 for reminding me that they're technically just dynaflat HD sets that only do really 480p/1080i with the 1080i input disabled in the service menu.🤣
They are a cool novelty though. I sought one out to be my 6th gen set. They are lagless for 480p and my ps2 and Dreamcast light guns work in progressive scan mode which is neat. So this is different than the more recent Samsung hd crts that can’t do 31khz
I own a Samsung Syncmaster 955DF PC CRT monitor, it's dynaflat but the dot mask is 0.20mm and 19inch. It's sharper than an FW900 Sony PC CRTs (that one is 0.24mm). I own this because it's my 4:3 1440p (1400p) monitor (max res is 1856x1396).
Also you are right about the color convergance, my 955DF has basically none. The colors and contrast remind me of Samsung's current QD OLEDs 😂. I watched Tron legacy on my Samsung monitor and compared it against my AMOLED phone, my AMOLED phone struggles with the highlights (the colors lose saturation), meanwhile my Syncmaster looks HDR-like. Nowadays when you watch extremely high end displays they artificially push brightness way too much and colors may look fake and not natural, it's was a huge breath of fresh air using my gem.
question not particularly related to Samsung , what's your view on crt's with dark/black glass vs grey glass with respect to contrast or color separation in bright scenes ?
I just found a Dynaflat 4 in 1 set from 2004 model# CXM2785TP on the roadside on my way to get my daughter from school. It has a built in dvd player and a built in 6 head vhs player. It has built in hi-fi sound as well. The onky downside is that it only has composite input. Gonna do some digging to see if it's RGB moldable? It's my first samsung CRT and I have many others but this one is intriguing. I was wondering what your opinion on these combo sets? Are they as good as a normal set? I've never had one but I know the toshiba combo sets are not nearly as good as there regular sets.
I assume you've opened these ones up - what does the yoke look like inside? Is it a standard purity/convergence ring setup or a perma-bonded situation?
@@P-0-Seventeen Great, thanks for confirming! I used to have a Loewe TV with a philips tube that was permabonded with no rings. In any case, I hope you eventually get a chance to lag test 480p mode with the 720p-capable Samsung models. Would be pretty juicy if they were good.
These are great TV's. Huge scanlines. My 2004 27" Dynaflat has the bad coil issue and likely also needs a recap. Otherwise they are great. Their service menu is a dream. S video is best.
The Samsung EDTV sets cannot do native 240p/480i. They linedouble those resolutions with lag too. The ED model is dual scan with its 1080i mode turned off in software, but you cab reenable it in the service menu.
I have an RF only Orion 1323 set (can’t find a single photo of it online, it uses the Orion 2550 chassis) and somehow it looks amazing even though it shouldn’t. It must have an insane comb filter because RF looks on par or better than s video on a lot of other sets. I bought it with the intention of RGB modding, but honestly I prefer it unmodified as there is just enough color bleed to blend dithering but is otherwise very clean. (It blends the sonic waterfall without any rainbowing!) On 480i there is a very tiny amount of dot crawl (the lowest I’ve seen on 480i composite/RF on any set) but otherwise looks great. I honestly prefer it to the JVC D series 27d201. Haven’t seen a Samsung Dynaflat in person since I’ve never seen one on craigslist or Facebook marketplace before.
Basically all my consoles except the genesis supports s-video which is why, some older consoles don't output component (and output usually RGB which isnt supported normally) while some do output component, but that's usually the later gen consoles. Also there's not much quality difference between the two anyway
Please help me with the deflection settings on the Samsung TX-R2435 PLEASE!!!!!! It doesn't need to be perfect it just needs to get back to something I can work with I had somebody adjust it who didn't know what they were doing and now it's a bit wonky. PLEASE 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
i don't know why but every Samsung tv i've ever seen always has that problem with geometry, where the left side of the tv near the left speaker is always vertically stretched more than the right side. what a bummer because i really like their pictures tho
Is there a discord or some other resource available somewhere for CRT enthusiasts. I would like some help with the geometry on my 27" Dynaflat. I would like to stay away from just trial and error in the service menu.
Yeah but it's a bit hard to get to ATM, it's just called CRT and I found it on reddit through a dead discord server that has another invite to the actual server
They are cheap mate, Samsung were always a budget brand. I don’t know what Sonys you have but the ones I have against Samsung are far better quality with a better picture

Picked up a 27in Dynaflat for free from marketplace. It was a nice upgrade to my VHS setup, love the picture quality.

Picked that same one up at a yard sale recently. Amazing little set!

I have dynaflat from 04 and it’s really nice.
I have a 27" of the silver 14" you have and I love it I use it for my wii & PS2
10:10 Sony KV32XBR48 !!!!!!!!! You gotta do a video on that set I just picked one up recently and its amazing how it was built!
question not particularly related to Samsung , what's your view on crt's with dark/black glass vs grey glass with respect to contrast or color separation in bright scenes ?
I like the Samsung dynaflats they look good on GameCube and PlayStation
I have a few Sharp flat screens. very nice sets you have.

had no idea you uploaded content! nice!!!
Ahh. I thought I recognized his name from somewhere lol

@@HRCtypo42 they're all your usual cone + 6 piece convergence rings, last I remember only Thomson tubes really were known for having bonded yokes

Oops I forgot about that, I'll probably try to correct if I can
I have a 30 inch TXM3096WHF model. It’s the 1080i hdtv Dynaflat model are those models any good? I’ve seen some reviews that say they’re terrible.

Why do you recommend S-video over component for these sets? I recently got the 24" model you have displayed

I have that black 13 inch tv in my kitchen.
How good or bad is the latency when retro gaming on these?
the refresh rate is the latency >:) so it's raw
