- I love this little CRT TV, and this is my 4th Samsung Dynaflat too. Easy to work on and have fun with plus component video!
• horizontal samsung tv ... Initial video with the horizontal screen fix
I have an Advent CRT TV similar to this Samsung one! Manufactured in late 2004, I've had it since 2004-2005! My Mom got one for me and one for my sister! I can't believe I still have it even to this day! Every year or two, I continue to test and see if it still works!
TH-cam finally recommends me something I actually want to see.
CRTs are something I'd love to have again for specific consoles but literally no one in my area sells them (Italy moment lol).
Anyways great channel man, lookin at the other videos now cause I dig this stuff.
Have you searched for just "television"
A friend found this set in the trash for me one late night. I thought it was a really nice set. When I looked at the back however, it blew me away. I've hear of component being a rarity for these sizes of CRT televisions. I have had an NES, Dreamcast and an Xbox hooked up to it. The Xbox displays beautifully through component. So do the others, but for some reason I do tend to have some convergence issues when hooking a console through composite. All in all a great set. Mine came with the remote so it was a plus as well. Fiddling around with the settings and service menu is pretty fun too. Thank you for showing yours off friend :^)
Maybe the problme with the compositor cable was the reason it was in the trash.
Really nice TV you have there, I have one myself and I truly am always blown away with how nice they are able to make composite look. Been trying to get mine up to snuff with geometry but even in the service menu it doesn't seem like these have many adjustment options unless I'm just being dumb, I don't have a service manual to go off of 😂
This is the set I wanted to find for my light gun kiosk since they are relatively thin compared to the Toshiba 14”
2 days ago, I found a samsung Slimfit TX-T2782 (manufactured January 2007) in my own neighborhood that is likely in mint condition, as the convergence and geometry are almost perfect, as well as the fact that the picture tube is so clear and so bright, that the contrast still looked bright when set to 15, so I doubt I'm in need of new capacitors (unless they're dried of course). Sadly, this is a 480i slimfit CRT TV, which I didn't even know were around and was unlucky ): Also, as for finding people speaking about fixing these samsung CRT TV's in another language, it's because CRT TV's are still in widespread use in those other countries, as the last CRT plant closed in europe in 2015, so for at least the next 5 years or so, keep expecting to find these repair videos about CRT's in another language, since nobody in the USA uses these anymore, at least not even 10 percent i'd say, just only gamers for th most part.
I am collecting Phillips,Bang and Olufsen, Loewe, and a variety of tiny portable CRTs.
Edit: I also own 2 1 inch CRTs out of Video cameras because i planned on some day building a VR Headset out og them.
First time ever seeing zoom on a US set.
It's actually super useful, if you're doing something like GBA with CRTEmudriver or Pi4 then you can fill the horizontal completely thanks to the 2560 super res, this gives you a very stretched horizontal image since GBA only uses 160 vertical lines.
Now hit the zoom button, if it does the same amount of zoom as the sets here it'll make the screen fill vertically but still leave slivers of black borders, giving you a basically perfect aspect ratio for GBA that utilizes the most screen area possible.
Same thing works great with GB/GBC (144px). If the zoom is too much, then just decrease the horizontal size in the config to whatever custom value (RA CRTSwitchres output).
Jurassic Park on SNES utilizes 192px only, and everything is squashed in that game (circles, squares) where it looks correct if you let 192px fill the screen. There's a few 192px games like this that look better stretched vertically. Especially with 192p arcade games (since with arcade machines you're always meant to adjust the H+V size and positions when switching games).
I have clips of this I can show on discord if you want.
How would you compare the PQ on component between this and the 14” Toshibas you mentioned? I have a choice of this one and a 14AF45…will mainly be used for xbox/halo 2.
@Anthony_K they're pretty close to same so you can go either way, at that point I'd take whichever one is in better condition
@@P-0-Seventeen fair enough, thank you for the swift response and thank you for this video as well!
Cute kitty 🐈
nice I have only seen component on plasma TVs
Hey man ever gotten your hands on an XBR trini?
If zoom streches the top and bottom maybe is usefull for games like stree fighter 2 from snes/genesis. They got a shrunk image, and this often fixes/improves it.
Do you know where I can find what the service menu acronyms actually refer to? I'm trying to shift the horizontal position and scale
@jonebize13 it's in a paywalled service manual so I couldn't tell you lol
@@P-0-Seventeen I found it if you want it. The codes at least
Also, just wanted to ask your opinion: the screen is shifted to the left and the right side of the screen is pretty warbly, lol. Not horrible but not good at all. I'm wondering if you think it could need new capacitors or if just shifting it is the best I can do. If it needs new caps, is it that hard or dangerous to learn to do on your own?
@jonebize13 if the right side is a little underscanned and warped a little then it should be pretty normal, crts are weird where they do that depending on where the screen is displayed
@@P-0-Seventeen It's kind of weird because different input modes show slightly different overall widths. Everything is shifted to the left about equally though. I was silly to buy this thing with more imperfect geometry than I'd like. After a week it wouldn't turn on. I took it in for repair ($150) and he told me that a capacitor had failed and it caused a power issue in another region, so both parts had to be replaced. Originally I asked him to check all caps and replace any that require it. He only addressed the pertinent (power) issue. I'm thinking that if that capacitor failed, others might be on the verge of failure as well, which would be causing the geometry issue. Maybe I can try shifting the image and see if it's acceptable. Unfortunately on my Genesis, at least, the image is not wide enough to even fill the screen if I shift it. So I'm not sure what to do. What would you do? Thanks for the advice btw. I bought this TV after I saw this video of yours!
I figure, if capacitors are addressable by a non-professional, I might as well learn how to do it. Would like your advice though. I can also send you photos somewhere if it would be helpful in giving a better opinion. Thanks P Oh 17. =)
Could you link the video for the fix horizontal screen issue. Have the same model with similar issue
I added the video link in the description now, so go ahead and look there >:)
@@P-0-Seventeen thank you! Maybe this will also help someone in the future but I placed a magnet on top of the horizontal coil on the board itself and it had the same effect and fixed the horizontal issue
I found one at a flea market yesterday for $10 but it is a 27 the plastic is very cheap on it more so than any pvm I seen S-Video composite component video
What TV do you think has a better screen this TV or a Sony Trinitron KV-13M42?
I liked this better just because it has component video lol, but i've owned a kv-13m53 too. Composite for composite this samsung also looks better because of its comb filter
Zoomer CRT energy ftw
Heh heh heh!
This is a serious video???
dunno what will this guy say the day he will see a sony BVM in component
